  • I love when Crosby enters the song in Simple Man at the end. Nash's singing makes me want to cry in sadness and compassion and then when Crosby enters I get the feeling that he's saying "Hey, it's gonna be alright, I'm gonna help you through this" to Nash and that fills me with so much joy! Thank you for uploading this nice live recording ...

  • my cover of it

  • I was born in 1990 and find this song as evocative and moving in it's simplicity as anything I have ever heard.

  • I've been saving all my money just to take you there.

I smell the garden in your hair.

Take the train from Casablanca going south,

blowing smoke rings from the corners of my m m m m mouth.

Colored cottons hang in the air,

    charming cobras in the square.

Striped djellebas we can wear at home.

Well, let me hear ya now.

  • Sandra I love the vibey fourtwenty words at precisely 4:20 in the song.. diggit.

  • Is that Donald Fagen in the audience at 5:43?

  • @thewwwihate Yes! Steely Dan and Stephen Stills mingled and shared some talent in terms of studio and live auxiliary musicians, like bassist Rick Suchow

  • DAvid Crosby us the fuckin MAN.

  • this is about the prunes ans the plums youve heard of it........... youll hate them! their all trash!!!!!

  • Mr Scott.....Very Good. Let's not forget, Simon&Garfunkle and early America"

  • Harmonies. The Beatles. The Beach Boys.CSNY.The Byrds. The Hollies. The Mommas and the Poppas.I really miss great harmonies expressed so well by these acts.

  • david had a pocket full of amphetamines and, morrocan hash!

  • q buen clásico....

  • If you want to hear pure genius, go the 3:28 mark and starting listening to Crosby's backing vocal. It might be the best I have ever heard. In fact, it almost overshadows Nash's lead vocal with it's subtle brilliance. Great music.

  • Many were "stoned" in the 70's but creativity was unaffected ! The world was a simpler, better place !......Peace, A proud hippie.

  • At 3:09 it sounds like they're saying this is the song that brought YouTube down.

  • I just died and was reborn. I'll never be the same again -_-

  • were they fucking?

  • I'd trade all my possessions to return to a simpler time. Footloose in Seattle. We owned Seattle and we were her children. I loved the most beautiful creature I had ever seen, and she loved me. CSN&Y were playing and in two weeks Pink Floyd . Weekends in the Cascade's, at the hot-springs, or laying in the warm sand at Alki Point. Close to heaven. There is nothing these days that compares to the wonderful life we had in 1968-1980. RIP oh glorious memories. I'll return, it's called heaven.

  • @TheRobberoo Your comment touches my very soul. I know EXACTLY what you're feeling.I feel the same way. We didn't know how fleeting time was back then. I guess we should apply that to right now as well. Boy oh boy if I could have even one of those days back.......

  • @TheRobberoo I was born in 1974. My whole life the music I have cherished has been pre 1980 overall.

I have to agree it's just not the same now. Thankfully we have the music to relive it!

  • @TheRobberoo "Ten thousand dollars at the drop of a hat, I'd give it all gladly if our lives could be like that." Bob Dylan _ some dream he had on a train going west.

  • @TheRobberoo Indeed.. we lived in a uptopia. .of our making... we lived for enjoying life simply because we wanted tooo... loving like there was no tommorow...the best times of our lives..we changed the face of society... brought down governments.. stopped the the war... and still standing here we are!!

  • @TheRobberoo Wow, me too, riverton hieghts area, south park to burien, Three tree point ring a bell ? Dash point. Grew up overlooking boeing field, god those were indeed the days my friend. Only the music remains. Thank god ! Take care and enjoy.

  • It takes me back. Great stuff!

  • @TheRobberoo "Do't you be so sad , bro . There's a still life waiting for you ,

Never give up , do you hear me ? Peace , bro

  • @TheRobberoo I agree Rob, but I beg to differ. It's called 'good weed'.

  • harmony heaven

  • Just Cool, enough said.

  • more like david creepsy

  • This is a gem of a video...the talent of these two guys together is in the stratosphere. Just two friends strummin'

  • Master of gtr

  • My favorite song from one of my favorite singers......

  • this the best thing man

  • ♥ .

  • Orthodoxdarwinist,

All I need is this music, a nice fat joint and freedom from flamer assholes like you. Go try to bug people on some other post, you've exceeded your boredom level here.

  • Stoned huh?... your point ?

  • @OrthodoxDarwinist

Don't post unless we can reply to you. If there was no point to what you wrote, then why write it? I see you ust make a habit of pissing people off with your ways.

I'm on medication:Lipitor, Trilipix, Bystolic, Bumex, Lantus, Novolog. Pot would be a better alternative. F U!

@SaxyDan54There wasn't really an explicit point to it, it is simply for the sake of interest in the ways of a great man.

    Have you ever considered medication?

    OrthodoxDarwinist 16 hours ago

  • @SaxyDan54

Well I think your medication schedule isn't enough. You need something harder.

  • @OrthodoxDarwinist I frankly don't care what you think...I just want you to not defile this lovely music with your negative BS. Let's let it rest, OK? Jeeeeez!

  • @SaxyDan54

It wasn't negative at all, if anything it was simple a neutral observation of a quote Crosby (whom I adore) made....

You seriously need some neuroleptics or some sort of antipsychotic.

  • @SaxyDan54

Clearly you do as you just sent me a 1000 word PM going on about how cool you are because you once smoked weed in the 70s.....

You desperately need close psychiatric supervision.

  • I know it's been talked todeath but what was Crosby usually stoned on? Powder?

  • @weirdguy75 Probably pot and a little acid, maybe some speed. The normal stuff in those days.

Hoiwever, I contue to get pissed at the micreants who post to these 5 YouTube posts that show Crosby and Nash in a quiet, acoustic, friendly, mellow session playing some of th most beautiful music and harmony, saying "WHAT DOPE R THEY ON'? Fuck that! Listen to the words of freedom and the wonder tones they w people and guitars make. It's the music and how your react to it and it to you!!!!!

  • @SaxyDan54 I'm just curious because I'm a music history enthusiast and drug use was a common facet. Thanks for the reply, though. This music is timeless!

  • @weirdguy75 Timeless it is, friend. I'd like to have Lee Shore played at my funeral. It's just got this etheral call of freedom about it. All 5 of these are simply wonderful.

  • I wish the BBC would do this more often. Less soaps and more quality music sessions!

  • beautiful song

  • Graham RULED on celebrity Jeopardy! For reals!!!

  • so enamoured with Graham Nash... the things I would do with a time machine and a box of condoms...

  • Ronnie James Dio (RIP) also did an amazing version of this amazing song.

  • Is that Warren Zevon in the crowd?

  • Tune into HDNet May 22nd 7:30pmET to watch Crosby-Nash: In Concert, Broadcast LIVE from the Palace Theatre in Stamford, Connecticut

  • Sad song...

Just saw them perform Marrakesh this week.

    They still have it!

  • im 17 and this is like legit my favorite song ever lol. idk why its just fucking pure awesomeness to me

  • thanks for posting...

  • What a great voice he has!

  • if drugs is what makes them write good music then i say HELL YEA!

  • Crosby stoned as usual.

  • @marcmgm

Well in one interview Crosby said there was not one instance in his whole career (until just recently when he got clean) where he wasn't stoned on stage on something.

  • @OrthodoxDarwinist so fucking what?

  • @SaxyDan54

There wasn't really an explicit point to it, it is simply for the sake of interest in the ways of a great man.

    Have you ever considered medication?

  • @marcmgm

yes. isn't it refreshing with all the violence and anger in the world?

  • @marcmgm I dont see anything wrong with that ;)

  • @marcmgm people say stoned about everything old, but fact is these new artists are stoned on pain pills and alcohol, basically drugs that own u... same difference less soul drus are drugs are drugs fuck it music is what matters

  • @marcmgm A given, the only question is what on this time?

  • @marcmgm

    Wasn't everybody?

  • @marcmgm He sings better stoned than most sing straight.

    YAAFM!

  • that era is alive in me and man or woman, not lost, beauty is never lost while there is someone to admire it peace!

  • i just love this album songs for beginners just perfect music from a lost era unfortunately

  • if anyone has the sheet music for this on piano please send it to me.

  • They were cute wern't they?

  • I wish Stephen was here he added the heart to all these songs.

  • crosby sounds just like Bush hahaha

  • September 11th huh? Crazy.

  • Haha, that solves the problem: "where did the Spin Doctors' frontman borrow his hairdo from?" haha, great song!

  • 4:45 i love that, when he goes high there!

  • Graham Nash, the film director/ scriptwritwer Mike Leigh and the actor Albert Finney all attended same school in Salford.

  • Joni broke his heart.

Can you imagine if she had stayed and they had had children together?

  • @njJoniGuy I think they have a love that will always be....they just couldn't make it work...I love them all for always :)

  • @njJoniGuy Graham and Susan Nash have had three beautiful children, all as precious to them as can be and they taught them well. I just love Nashie for being a good father, a great friend and a superb musician.

By the way - rock on Croz!!!!

  • This is so great.

  • that is one cool clip....very nice think of the times i was turning 16 vietnam was raging and this music kept us going

  • This makes me happy and respect older generations at the same time. That's how amazing Crosby and Nash are. :)

  • holy moly, they were, they are and they will be . . .mind blowing . . . :))

  • Nash made CSNY as well as The Hollies...great voice!

  • there is a magic there

  • Goosebumps! Thanks for posting this! What a step back into the past!

  • @adamowellen same age, same view. everything about what the do is so amazing. of course, the harmonies are my favorite. such tight vocals

  • TWo Martin d-45s. what better sound.

  • All of CSNY were keyboard players. Nash or Young usually did the honors on group collaborations. Crosby shares his oddball sense of humor with a British studio audience here. He is mildly high, but doesn't miss a beat.

  • Both Nash songs.

  • No way out man Russian women **leefoxnow.info**

  • What a great couple of guys. - Wouldn't it be one unforgettable weekend to hang out with them near a mountain lake with guitars, flutes, percussion and a great BBQ!

I bet Graham has a few rich things to say about life, government, spirituality and his past experiences. I know David would.

When will you Gentle Giants of Wooden Music come visit us here in Northern Cal? The South side of Lindsey Lake would welcome your sounds.

  • love the comment from adamowellen..that's so nice for us 'older folks' to hear..we always thought it was pretty special..i do consider myself very lucky to have lived thru the days of this music.. and sorry..just don't get a lot of the stuff these days..maybe that's just me..

  • very nice!

  • I remember when this album was released....I wore it out. In my room with my black light on and my posters on the wall, and playing stinky finger with my girlfriend.

  • this is real talent.. idk how people like all this shit that people are putting out

  • david is smiling because hes high as a kite

  • Here are some b&w photos I shot of CSN&Y in Los Angeles in 1969. Google “cacheagency”, then click on “Photographers and Collections” and click on "Jeff Allen" (the photographers are in alphabetical order). Scroll to the bottom of the page once you're on my pictures and click on pages 2, 3, 6 and 7 to view my photos. Click on any picture to enlarge it. Hope y’all enjoy!

  • if i could like this a million times i would!

  • tout simplement superbe!!!!!

  • they appear to be a couple of head strong Jedi Knights, on a diplomatic mission to Alderran... thet radiate power, skill and peace.

  • they appear to be a couple of head strong Jedi Knights, on a diplomatic mission to Alderran...

  • i love this video cant stop watching it

  • All I can say is thank God Graham never gave up on David. The two of them have written & sung some of the best songs, ever. I love these guys!

  • @u2fan33 im with you brother i couldnt have say it better

  • Jim Neal my brother had bought I believe CSN first album 1969. I was 13 year old Jim was 17. It was loud rocking it was great, our dad said turn down that crap. Listen listen talk about harmony, I love the hair and now days, how groups make sound this good better without the mix !

  • Simple man

  • This is nice Lyrics

  • @TheGuitarkim

Back when music was poetry and had actual meaning.

Now it's just like: "Get the 50 dollar bill yall, hit em up, money money money, chicks, dollars, ho's and Hennessy, money money money, yeaaaaa..."

  • Thank you so much for posting this DIAMOND!

  • 17 dislikes? LOOOSERS!!!!

Like those 17 know ANYTHING about music. LMAO!

  • Very clear memory of watching this show when it was transmitted.

  • Kis lanjom en nagyon szeretlek

  • ~ o loving unity of humanity : recall :

~ THE DIFFERENCE OF PARODY AND POETRY ~

  • This is great but Guinnevere is amazing

  • So Simple, So beautiful.

  • what is the name of the jacket of crosby??????

  • @cuauthemocb

    'Arthur'

  • @frapptree ¿Artur Jacket?

    THANKS!

  • Read David Crosby's own book...and you'll understand why , he was smiling...

  • David rules :-)

  • Obvious British dentistry on Mr. Nash.

  • These two are brilliant together. Love the little scatting Crosby does!

Really- they didn't need Neil and Steven; they are a force all their own!

  • @kimatoz3 Within or outside of CSNY, these two had a special connection and friendship. CSNY are brilliant, individually or collectively. Crosby and Nash spent some years in the 1970s with their own tour. Still working today.

  • So sweet!

  • David Crosby Steven Stills Graham Nash and Neil Young ..............to this day the greatest collection of talent in a band. JMO, so if you don't agree thats cool. To each of his/her own.

  • @ra18067 I'd put them second, to the grateful dead!

  • Nash wrote this song for one time girlfriend Joni Mitchell.

  • so nice +++++

  • What a wonderful video and memories! The "Marrakesh Express" describes very well how was travelling by train in Morocco in 1966: I experienced myself :) Oh, those happy old times with flowers on the head was an impossible dream but since then the world started to change for the better.

Thank you so much Zeppelinfloyd196 for these minutes of nostalgia and happiness and yes: This video goes right now to my favorites :)

  • I was a kid in the 60's and 70's and even then we knew our music was good. It still is.

  • Being a child of the sixties, my parents were big CSN fans amongst others. How do you sum up this kind of music? I really don't know, other than to say I wish i was half as talented and that at 43 years of age i am so glad i was introduced to them. This song and in particular this recording really is something special for me. Peace and Love lol

  • @glencruitt I really appreciate the fact that I was alive when this crowd were. It's a one in a lifetime combination sort of voices, ideas and friendship (hate as well, but short-lived)...Steve was always a solo act, but these two together.....when I hear the harmonising, I could be a cat on alert claws the way what few hairs I have on my back stand to atention. Know what I mean? As a muso. I'm also impressed by 2 Martin -45s in unison, might be better if Dave was playing the 12 sring....

  • the best song ever

  • This mini concert turned me on to crosby stills and nash, in fact Ive gone through stages of have one as my fave on different occasions but this still sends tingles down my spine.

  • awesome i remeber my brother ..the first cassette tape he ever had before ..every night before going to bed he listen to this song...csyn..his fave!..thanks for posting !!

  • When you hear Marrakesh Express sung like this with just the two of them, doesn't it make the studio/single version seem so overblown? Sometimes, and often, "simple" is best.

  • yes simple is best that is very true

  • @MilesMacf

    Sublime simplicity.............

  • perfect...just perfect...

  • Anybody know the name of the song in the intro? Nash solo on piano

  • @chrsitiethebarber simple man.

  • Ah, like it says in the title! Ta

  • Simple Man. It's off the "Songs for Beginners" Nash solo album

  • This is Fabu - Thanks so much and for info under your name. Very interesting and after all these years - I didn't know the things you wrote about it! Looking forward to more of your vids.

  • Thanks for sharing ~great clip !!!

  • they should put this out on cd and dvd

  • David is always so happy, no matter what. every picture i see of him, he is smiling. i love it.

  • yeah its called pot !

  • dude, even when he's not smoking (which isn't very often, i know) he is still smiling. that's something awesome, to be able to just be happy all the time.

  • @metrostationrocks Crosby is "happy" and pleasantly high in this set. Whatever he is floating on, it doesn't affect his delivery. Began a serious affair with drugs when fiancee Christine Hinton was killed in an auto mishap in 1969, sadly.

  • @metrostationrocks That's because he was stoned most of the time.

  • @Keyboardman88 I don't know why everyone has to point out that thing about certain musicians. Of course David Crosby took a shitload of drugs, but it has absolutely nothing to do with music.

  • @cheifguggletram My comment had nothing to do with the quality of their music...which I think is fantastic. I was only making a statement in answer to a pots that questioned why David Crosby was always smiling.....sthe music is one reason...I think that the drugs is the other.

  • @metrostationrocks 2 words, Maria Juana

  • @metrostationrocks cant imagine why

  • @metrostationrocks its the drugs...he can afford the best the devil can provide

  • @metrostationrocks back in thoes days David was always high. thats why he smile alot

  • @metrostationrocks You have to remember he did a lot of drugs!

  • @metrostationrocks Cause hes stoned lol

  • @metrostationrocks Cause hes stoned lol

  • @metrostationrocks yep...higher than high can be.

  • @metrostationrocks you're right, and weed's a helluva drug!

  • @metrostationrocks It's called mescaline, I believe :P

  • @mpeters220 Who cares? If it amplifies their talent, then maybe we should legalize it for some of the modern "musicians."
