I can understand you saying that Spanky isn't better than Aaron spears and TR, but Jerome floods is still young, and his chops are pretty much regular, Spanky is however known almost 100% for playing completely outside the box which he learnt alot of from Chris Dave.

for example: this is a tricky tune. lots of time signature changes and breakdowns etc. is he counting all along not to get lost? or is he just going by feel?
You can sorta put it down to doing your h/w! Work on the different time signatures individually, then as an exercise compose a signature piece which includes everything you've practised so you can practice in a more challenging way.
you know i have all respect for his technic. but few times its too technical. and it messes up the feeling. my opinnion, you have to mix technic and feeling. or feeling the highest i dont know.

eh, not really. Jerome is nice....very creative...not taking that away from him at all. But, listen to how Spanky breaks beats in between constant rhythm points. He bends measures like crazy! And his improv to me is second to none. I can't recall a drummer ever doing some of the things Spanky does. Jerome, without this type of music, it's hard to tell if he can play that way. The only way to see how deep Jerome is is have him back up Black Surfer's sound.
I would term Tony more a technical monster...not a free-flowing beast like Spanky.
Have you ever seen the video of Tony in Poland? Tony goes NUTS! And I mean bonkers on his solo! but, I don't hear him bending measures like Spanky does. tony has major speed and technique which allows creativity.
But Spanky plays with more of a feel than Tony does...just two different styles...both awesome imo =]

he just bends the tempos anyway he wants.. its just another language at the drums.. not saying that jerome sucks (coze he doesnt.. he is great like i said) but they arent even close

eh, not really. Jerome is nice....very creative...not taking that away from him at all. But, listen to how Spanky breaks beats in between constant rhythm points. He bends measures like crazy! And his improv to me is second to none. I can't recall a drummer ever doing some of the things Spanky does. Jerome, without this type of music, it's hard to tell if he can play that way. The only way to see how deep Jerome is is have him back up Black Surfer's sound.

I would term Tony more a technical monster...not a free-flowing beast like Spanky.
Have you ever seen the video of Tony in Poland? Tony goes NUTS! And I mean bonkers on his solo! but, I don't hear him bending measures like Spanky does. tony has major speed and technique which allows creativity.
But Spanky plays with more of a feel than Tony does...just two different styles...both awesome imo =]

I didn't say Tony doesn't have good timing. I said he is more a technocrat. If i didn't study drummers, I wouldn't have said that. I stand with my original statement. Tony is a monster drummer...I never took anything away from him.

thanks bro. but the way I see it? you can never compare those two....they are both giants in the drumming game and I'm sure they both respect each others talents very much. Who am I to sit here dogging one drummer against the other because of what I feel? Just listen to them both. they BOTH kill! So yeah, you have to respect people that are that good.

Man my boi spank got crazy skillz and I mean crazy!!!!!! Who would ever to think to do the things he does on the set. Man there are alot of pro drummers out there but I put him up there in the top five of my favorite drummers.
