Sophiia: At this pace, 2009 may prove one of the largest sea turtle stranding years, perhaps second only to the 1999 season with just shy of 300 turtles. Cold-stunning is an annual event when young sea turtles get trapped in Cape Cod Bay as they swim south in the late summer and early fall. The number of turtles is a result of a complex set of factors, one of which is the temperature of coastal waters during the summer. There was a large swath of warm water off New England this year!

Isn't that a high amount of turtles stranding themselves. Does that indicate something?
