i hate the sufis, so much bidah ahs come from that group of deviants. some sufis maybe good and i am not denying that, but the sufis i have met are all ignorant deviants.

Ppl should try reading the works of Muhammed ibn Abdul-Wahhab before slandering him. We must follow the Qur'an and the sunnah of the prophet (pbuh) as understood by the Sahabah. No one says dhikr is kufr! The point is you should do dhikr as the prophet and his sahabah did it, otherwise it is bidaah. The basic principle of fiqh is that any ibadah is haraam unless proven to be halal, whilst everything in dunya is halal unless proven to be haraam. Do dhikr as the prophet and sahabah did it.

as for the music industry, its not just sufi's but other muslims who sing with music too. music is permissable as long as it doesnt arouse too much emotion. having said that, many muslims take it to extremes. i personally listen to music but i accept much of the music i listen to is haram. some are not. i will not put my aqeeda at risk trying to justify my weaknesses. (actually music is about huqum, fiqh, & not directly related to aqeeda)

akhee, no, although ive met hundreds of salafis ive never met one who makes another a diety, unfortunately thats what some ungaurded, uneducated sufi's do. the biggest form of shrik. but i what i have come across, a lot, is salafi's give phsyical attributes to Allah. i mean literally. that Allah has physical hands similar to us and literally sits on a throne.. and he takes steps. this is in melbourne.

I've talked many times with sufis because of tawassul with the prophet. they say it is permissible and say that the four ulema (malik, hanbal etc.) allowed it. they also bring their "dalil". can you give me some dalil or somethin so I can show them, that the Ulema didn't allow it with dead people

I never really understood the concept of "Islamic" music---a lot of it is marketed just like western music, and you have to question what is the intentions of those involved.  Not to mention the major issue, which involves the deviant ideas propagated in the lyrics.

I agree that listening to music is at best a waste of time and at worst something evil. However, I do not listen to "satanic' music, in the sense of genres that promote satanism. There are sub-genres of punk that deal with social and anti-racist issues, not to mention those which openly oppose drug use and violence.

The "religious" music I would oppose would only be that which promotes any form of shirk---perhaps my use of the term "sufi" is too general and maybe biased.

I agree with you jaalius and I really only rarely listen to any music at all. But unfortunately, the only kind of music I like seems to be a little hard-edged.

Every culture, including those of the Muslims, have traps that take us away from the remembrance of Allah. YouTube, to be honest, is also one of those traps---but it's nice that there are Muslims here who can remind us to check ourselves. Peace.

Interesting video.

I have spoken to many Sufis and spoken about this issue of music, and whether it is allowed in Islam or not. My reply from the Sufis was that their are Hadith which support their actions in the books of Sahih which narrate that the Prophet of Islam used to also listen to music when he was with Lady Ayesha.

How would you respond to this argument?

and the question here isnt music it'self but them taking this practice as #1 WORSHIP AND also #2 the words that they use....dancing and going wild in the name of ALLAH in the masjid or any other place is not ISLAM...
