  • Voivod ponders the questions that have trouble mankind from the beginning: Who's God? Who's Dog? Whose God? Whose Dog?

  • Here Voivod ponders the question that has long troubled man: Who's God? Who's Dog? Whose God? Whose Dog?

  • Psychotic sound

  • voivod man! loved this song when i was 14, i'm 35 now and still lovin it!

  • Everybody always asks about the best Thrash/Crossover bands of the late 80's and early 90's. Waste of time. Voivod, transcended all of this. From grinding Motorhead early days, to Psychedelic jazzed up guitar excellent rock schtumm. If 'Dimension Hatross' doesn't make you go 'Oh Yesssssssssssssssssss', Then you're dead. x

  • I was fortunate to discover Voivod when they came out on Metal Massacre lp back in 84, was it? Still love 'em!!!

  • epic song

  • Piggy is Not Dead. He's still Headbanging in Another Dimension .

  • voivod,voivod,voivod,voivod,voivod.......r.i.p.piggy thank you...

  • Best Voivod song by far if you're a metalhead. I recorded this video on Mtv one night on HeadBanger's Ball, I still have the VHS tape but no player to play it :( Also on that is King Diamond's Welcome Home. 1988 I believe?

  • E T E R N A L P S Y C H E D E L I C M E T A L

  • Dear God,

If we give you Justin Bieber, will you give us Piggy?

    Sincerely,

    Think about it.

  • this band deserved A FUCKIN LOT more recognition than they got. they were the only thrash band that was different. canada has badass musicians

  • VOIVOD SO UNDERATED ... DIMENSION HATROSS SHEER GENIUS THERE STYLE IS AMAZING !!!

  • Incredible Thrash Progressive Metal... \m/ !!!!!!

  • I still clearly remember the first time I heard this song, about a week after it was released. It changed my life forever. I've shared them with many people over the years; some get it, some don't. VoiVod is a powerful band, and were always more than just a 'metal' band. They were doing something important, whether they knew it or not.

  • @drax13

fuck, same happened to me :)

  • 7 people need a tribal conviction

  • it's strange how this band proved to be highly addictive for me.

  • oi people! hello from zagreb, croatia. first tme i'v herd of vojvod was in '89. In that time it was six (6) of us in a milion town loving 'em. i stll love them. Piggy...he's in a better place now. Greetings from the Balkans

  • @zglaotse69 Pozdrav od Voivod fana iz gorskog kotra! :D

  • fucking hell, this vid is bombastic....

  • I simply don`t understand why this band is obscure, in their prime they had bands that would later be huge opening for them (metallica, soundgarden, faith no more) and i dare say these guys influenced a huge number of bands. It`s interesting that among the general metal loving folk they are not well known but almost any band from the 80`s through to the mid ninetees new them well.

  • @garden73 because they had Piggy's illness to deal with... they had had even bigger tours booked around the time of their signing to MCA, from what I understand. :(

  • All I want for Christmas is some French Canadian sci-fi thrash metal!

  • yeah...errinnert mich voll an meine Jugend...fett

  • Dimension Hatröss is the cosmic shit - outstanding divine record - not all earthlings are able to understand its greatness.

  • @SimulacronX God bless you.

  • @MagnificentBastard12 Bless you too!

  • soundtrack to my angst ridden moments in 88, still sounds fucking awesome, Dimension Hatrross, what a great album!

  • ahead of their time.....underated

  • First caught this from the "Hard n' Heavy" VHS series back in the mid 80's and have been a fan ever since. Experimental, punkish, odd, quirky, discordant, rhythmic, dark, ethereal - through their career Voivod's always just been a different kind of metal. You either get it or you don't.

  • Just an amazing classic band! This is one of my personal favs!!!

  • Fuck fucking yeah on this one...love any sort of sci-thrash haha

  • First heard this on the Doomsday News VHS compilation a long time ago, been listening to Voivod ever since, totally unique band which isn't something you can say every day!

  • Wonderful video (and song!), still very much relevant today as it was twenty years ago, and it was made with a minuscule fraction of the money any record company spend today for their promos.

  • Killing Technology was, in my humble opinion, their ultimate best album!

  • @metalslut1 I agree.

  • @metalslut1 you say this on a dimension hatross video? lol

  • I saw these guys in a record store in Québec city, Canada for an othograph session as they were promoting there new album when Jason Newstead from Metallica joined in. Pretty cool guys. Dimension Hatross fucking rocks!!!

  • such a great song. voivod were so much better than so many of their cunt-temporaries.

  • this band is new to my ears. i def like what i hear. this is the shit. im trying to explore bands that are older rather than the bs that we get today. some is good, a lot is horrible. thx for posting. rock on man. \m/

  • For over 20 years now, that we don't need Metallica...

  • @SnellSchnell Voivod is so much better than those two trash heaps.

  • Dimension Hatröss is an album that changed my head, my life. Unique gem.

  • @SimulacronX Right, i was 14 when it came out, bought it on its day of release, im in my mid 30's now and here i am commenting on a nostalgia trip.Pure fucking genius.

  • @jaydischord 14? Wow... I was enlightened when I was about 18 I think. Cheers

  • @SimulacronX i agree very much i am 37 now

  • I love this Video..........

  • my fave Voivod song

  • Piggy was the most underestimated guitar player in the metal world

He showed the world metal coud be more than silly 1/5/8 chords

  • voivod are my addiction

  • Strange to think of Voivod as obscure...they were the first real metal band I found back when I was 14...in 1985 haha \,,/ \,,/

  • Absolute class.

Who else remembers The Power Hour, with Jackie Lynn that was broadcast around 3am Saturdays around 1990?

This was one of the many videos lost as my folks had Betamax and not VHS.

Brilliant that this gem has been saved- thank you smnmblast...

  • @SQ33K i remember the show well, we started getting it in NW England in '87/88, between 2:30 & 3:30am on a Wednesday morning, i had like 27 hours of the show on VHS until they died from the damp in the cupboard they where stored in, was gutted, had some superb videos from that era.

  • oh the memories .................Flooding back ............This is absolute classic metal , original , different and talented !!! long live voivod RIP PIGGY

  • \m/ The 80's metal are First creators of The Underground Metal, \m/ INTO ASSAULT METAL \m/ if get caught drunk, head banging, fighting your way out or enjoying mosh pit ;Your being brain damage by Metallicunderground METAL.

  • just heard they are touring the USA! oh my fucking god i can't wait till march 6th when they play in NYC with kreator!!!

  • dimension hatross... definitely their best album. it's just so weird, it can only be a work of genius.

  • you like it in the ass, you negative Nellie. Now, do you like it in the ass double as much as you like talking shit? p.s. that's what punctuation and spelling look like... elipses... bitch. Go to sleep, freshman.

  • Awesome. Hail Voivod. RIP, Piggy.

  • Why does this obscure Quebec based metal song from the 80's kick so much ass? Yay for youtube!

  • saw them live in Montreal yesterday and they still kick ass !....the originality of this band is what amazes me and their members are so special !

  • @Kastlefeer because they are kickass good!!Good music doesn`t have to come only from the uk or well known places.

  • @Kastlefeer cos they are not obscure :D they are part of the thrash metal triumvirate they are one of the best and most influential metal bands ever..their music will survive

  • @Kastlefeer LSD

  • @Kastlefeer cos they fucking rock :D

  • @Kastlefeer this was not obscure in the 80's!

  • @Kastlefeer Kicking ass is just an understatement when you're mentioning "Tribal Convinctions". This song kicks so much ass that even Chuck Norris would be scared.

  • @Kastlefeer cause it's only obscure to the uninformed ;-)

  • I dk he died so how?

  • Colon Cancer.

Fuck dammit why does the various forms of cancer take away some of most gifted guitarists?

    Chuck Schulinder (Death); Brain cancer

Denis D' Amour "Piggy" (Voivod); Colon cancer

Frank Zappa (The Mothers of Revolution); Terminal Prostate cancer

Jeff Healey (Blue Direction); Retinoblastoma (Eye Cancer) made him blind, his eyes had to be surgically removed; died from 2nd Cancer infection.

  • dimension hatross is the shit.. my fav voivod

  • Peoples, ok, the 80s were great and brought us sounds like this, but we don't need to go back in time or to have witnessed those times to enjoy this f'ng great sound!

Piggy, Away, Snake, Blacky and Jasonic, thanx a lot for decades of great music!

  • RRRRRRRRRROOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRRR,

great, i want to be back in the 80`s!

  • even at 36, i still love this song. rip piggy

  • smnmblst, thanks for sharing this video

  • As good today as it was when it came out in the 80's.

  • Gods.

  • I recorded this on VHS when it premiered on Headbanger's Ball, must have been around '86. Still have the tape, along with King Diamond's "Them" video. Oh how I miss those metal days.

  • That intro hit me like a fuckin hammer against the temple

  • love it ^^ this and psy vacuum are really killer :) thanx for posting. really dig the fact that voivod wasnt just a wall of noise. they actually cared what was put on cd, unlike all these lame ass death metal bands :P

  • This is the most original and innovative thrash that I have listened...very great! and Dimension Hatross it's a real masterpiece!

  • Dimension Hatross and Rrroooaaarrr are my fave albums by this band. everything up to and including 'Hatross are perfect in my opinion though.

this band has been HIGHLY influential to me. Away's artwork has also resonated big time with me as well, especially the cover painting for the first album.

  • RIP Piggy

  • Absolutely the Masters of my heart.

    R.I.P., Big Piggy.

  • RIP piggy

  • A masterpiece !!

  • Fucking AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Too bad there arent more bands like this... Stupid DT I wish all those Technical bands listened to Psychotic Waltz or this or something other than DT

  • Tres bien!

  • Hey littlejey i was ther too at the Agora and the shiw left me the same impression

  • what is the definition of "THE SHIT!!" ? its this fucking music video!!!!! VOIVOD FUCKIN RULZ!!!!

    RIP piggy..

  • My first big concert ! Voidvod and Iron Maiden back in 1999. I was 16. The concert was at "L'agora du vieux port" in Québec city. I remember the voidvod bass drum was so powerfull that it resonate in my chess...I was afraid that my heart miss one beat. I saw them 4 years later with ozzy. I will see them next friday in "Woodstock en Beauce"

  • Conspicue-oussness with a toke of some bowl of ganja.

  • one of the best songs on one of the best albums ever...period...but thats my opinion...

  • This is how Voivod should sound this days: progressive, experimental yet raging and still thrash metal enough, I like some of his later stuff but nothing like the stuff from the 80's days.

  • katastrofeeeeee....

  • still sound like a new song from this year, no doubt voivod was a lot of years ahead from the rest of the bands in the late 80's and early 90's

  • Dimension Hatross is one of my most influential albums; no one did dischords like Voi Vod - they are the masters and forefathers of that sound.

  • This song gives me the chills in all the right places.

  • it's gonna be war, it's gonna be war , it's gonna be who's god ,who dog! fucking MASTERPIECE!

    r.i.p. piggy

  • good old times, good old school! Voivod is awesome! Dimension Hatröss and Nothingface was da best!

  • Shit, it's 2009 and this still sounds like music from the future. Amazing song!!

  • Well said! I share the same opinion!

  • dimension hatross is a must!!

  • great hyper-rock!

  • Visionaries. Probably the only TRUE geniuses of thrashcore.

  • "thrashcore"? what a bullshit moniker. It's just rock/metal leave it at that.

  • actually Voivod were (especially in the beginning) influenced by hardcore and proto-punk bands (like The Stooges) and they merged these influences with thrash, so thrashcore isnt exactly a wrong term. In my opinion Nuclear metal is a term that describes them best, especially during the Killing Technology-Dimension Hatross era.

  • YEARS AHEAD

  • Comment removed

  • Best band ever.

  • Piggy & Blacky had great custom instruments... this song is Away Cool! especially the End

  • amazing? yupperz.

  • super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you very much Mr.Einstein!

  • Haven't seen these guys for years. Last time was in FLA in like '89. Thanks for posting the vid. Great Band!

  • From top to bottom, Dimension Hatross is a brilliant and, highly underrated, album. All Voivod fans know what's up with it . . . every other metal fan has no clue. Makes me feel like I'm part some awesome fraternity!

    RIP Piggy!
