  • Fake, there is no way you can do that with one hand!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • speed up, fake!

  • if you think that no one can play that fast, see mr. Arcadi Volodos, he plays twice that fast and cleaner too, so stop saying nonsenses

  • LOL sped up

  • It seems that, if it's not a guitar cover... it's nothing..

    Typical.

  • good try

    speed-up

    fake!

  • Hmm this guy moves weird, or this is just sped up. Because the way he moves is very unnatural.

  • hahaha speed up

    LOL

  • man .... it is sped up :(

  • @jjaye1 hell no it aint watch the headphone chord

  • Ok, now try without fast forward!

  • I am listening to what hes doing.....

  • this video is speed up LOL

  • Technically its impressive but musicially...its uninteresting scales with no real melody and no passion....

  • @RichTancredi listen to the song first....

  • When I start to think that I just can't play the keyboard, I watch videos on youtube to inspire myself and end up even more depressed :-(

  • He's not using the best camera, they experience lagg sometimes. it causes it to look like its been sped up when stuff happens really fast. And even if it is sped up, its not sped up alot. and learning it sped down is probably even harder than the fast one cos you gotta do alotta stuff yourself.

  • Very well played! One of favourites!

  • If you listen to it without sound you can clearly see that it's sped up.

  • @alsa005

Lololol I agree so much :')

  • Fucking excellent!

At first I thought it was sped up but if you look at the headphone cord on the bottom right it doesn't move fast, and it reacts when he moves his head.

  • sped up ! lol ..but still nice moog sound !

  • EXCELENT! MAN!

    ONLY ONE WORD!

    EXCEEEEEEELEEEEENTTT!!!!!!!!! 50/1

  • it doesn't take an ambassador of logic to tell us that this video is a text book example of a video sped up. End. (The irony is that it probably takes more energy to deceive us than it does to learn the solo and get it to the correct tempo.)

  • great. but why you r using midi in that music. :D try to make it more rel cause you r a great player

  • he's playing the right notes but slower. the video has definitely been sped up.

  • spep up, but anyway a huge playing. I'd say that playing this solo slowly could be even harder.

  • wooooooo very nice. I love Octavarium

  • I'm sorry, this is DEFINITELY sped up.

  • OMG ! He stole Jordans magical spellbook!

  • I hate to say it, but I also believe its sped up judging not only by the body movements, but also by some of the hand movements in certain parts of the video. It's great to listen to, but when I watch the video I feel disappointed.

  • His body is moving at normal speed, it would be rather difficult to move slowly, learn the solo then speed up the video to make it look normal speed.

  • accelerated video ...................

  • wow you people are pathetic. this guy cheated.... sped the video up. there is no doubt bout it especially at the beginning of the video no one moves back and forth swaying that fast. and also watch the cord swinging down at the bottom of the video. its moving back and forth faster than normal. dont even try to prove a case against that alright?? cuz you'll sound retarded. he recorded himself playing this song. then sped the video up to make it seem like he can play at full speed. nice try buddy.

  • It's hilarious how people think it's sped up from his body movements and not his actual playing. I never knew body gestures really mattered. This isn't fake at all. If you watch or listen to other things like stride piano, the left hand goes absolutely nuts, doing the syncopation and such. He noted it took him a month to do this, and it's very plausible. I'm sure it took Jordan Rudess the same amount of time to do this solo as well. Great job!

  • @saxman52 Maybe it's because the body movements are large and it becomes obvious whether or not something is sped up from the body movements. It's hard to tell from the little finger movements whether or not something is sped up. It's quite clear that the video is sped up from the body movements, since some of them don't look remotely natural. Everything else you said has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not it was sped up.

  • Goooood considering it's a one handed version... But since it's a one handed version, why not do the rythm with your left hand? XD Otherwise playing it one-handed is completely useless lol

Now try it with two hands!

  • @twitty666

i play keyboard, and i can tell you he speed it up.. just look at the last part of the solo, his hand is almost flying lol!

but i gotta say that he know what he's playing, because the video matches perfectly..

  • @emanguto then play more and try harder because it's totally possible to do this.... just working!

  • That was Immense!! It doesn't look speeded up, if you watch his body movements they don't look unordinary. I can play as fast but in no way as near perfect and stylish as this dude. RESTECPA!

  • UH whoever thinks this is sped up or fake, your obviously retarded. sorry that isnt politically correct?Your a dumbass. lol maybe if you do something called PRACTICE, you can also learn to play good like that?try to use your dumb brain a little at least

  • Clearly sped up.

  • @twittty666: he did speed it up. watch his hands again. and being a musician myself, i may be able to play something slow but that does not mean i can play it fast. maybe after rehearsing the piece for a while, but just because i can play it does not mean i can play it at the same speed.

  • @BurnitDown89 totally agreed! this is sped up! i play keyboard, and after seeing how his hands were "flying" lol i can tell he speeds it up

  • why you dont use both hands in the end? xD

  • Not even a good fake.

  • Heh, you can tell from the first second or so that it's sped up. :P

  • Congratulations. You are a very good player xD

  • Gimme a F !

    Gimme an A !

    Gimme a K !

    Gimme an E !

  • fake :D

  • Jaki żal .! hahaha xD Koleś ma podkład a Wy tego nie słyszycie ...

  • Wow, I didn't even notice the shirt. Nice.

  • i play piano, he sped this up, i can tell

  • Comment removed

  • Is this the real speed ?

  • @marsarium Yes.

  • Many parts of this solo are hard to play even with both hands. About 90% of this solo is naturally played with one hand but that 10% is insanely hard to play without the aid of second hand. This is really a performance worhty of 5 stars.

  • Really Great~!! That's very coool~!! 5/5*

  • the cables aren't swinging faster then they should be and he looks fine to me, i think most of the people here are jelouse that he can not only play the solo but he can play it well. good job man 5stars

  • Do any of you people actually know anything about playing the keyboard? Just watch his fingers - what he's playing matches the audio. Why would the guy learn how to play the solo, and then mime to a MIDI file? And to all you idiots who think he sped it up, believe me - speed is not the hard part of playing things like this, the most difficult thing by far is the complexity of the hand and finger positioning. If you can play something slowly you can play it quickly - ask Mr Rudess himself.

  • @twitty666 i agree profusely as a keyboard player but this video does look sped up even if it isn't.

  • I agree, but sometimes I can play fast something that when I play it slow it fucks with me

  • @twitty666 and of course the most difficult part of all is writing it ;).

  • @twitty666 That is entirely true. There's no such thing as speed, just accuracy.

  • @twitty666 sorry twitty ur wrong. do you have any experience with piano at all?? if you can play something slow you can play it fast? how about you play La Campanella by Franz Liszt nice and slow then just speed it up to normal speed. ya thats what i thought. where's mr. rudess's principles there? he knows the actual solo, and he played it at a SLOW speed then sped the video AND THE AUDIO up to make it sound and look like its being played at full speed. its NOT HARD TO UNDERSTAND PEOPLE. ITS NOT

  • @twitty666 Amen brother, but don´t waste words, you won´t beat human stupidity, trust me, I also try but it´s useless, and if there is something even worse than general ignorance are stupid opinions, made by people who don´t have the knowledge to support the bases of their statements. But that´s the world we live in. Have a good one. Great video by the way ;D.

  • @twitty666 That last line was possibly one of the most stupid thing's I've ever heard in my life. Okay then, why don't you play this solo at 320 BPM? If you can play it slow, you can play it fast right? In fact, your whole comment was a steaming pile of shit, because this was obviously sped up. His movements are incredibly stiff, as seen in the begginning, and by his hand's movements, I say either it was sped up, or the room temperature was negative 10 degrees.

  • @xXSTFDXx Because I can't play it slowly.

  • @twitty666 0:46

You lose. It was sped up.

  • @xXSTFDXx It's not. But it's understandable that you think that. It's hard for people like you to move up and down like that. But that's okay. Really.

  • Comment removed

  • @twitty666 look at other covers, the hands DONT look like that

    is sped up

  • @twitty666

there is not much complexity with finger positioning in this solo

try dance of eternity's ragtime piano solo :P or acid rain... it just crushes your fingers

  • @twitty666 i agree with you, but this video was made after mine, and using my audio.

  • @twitty666 I played keyboard and piano for 9 years and I can tell a fake when I see one. right he is playing but he's not playing what you're hearing. looks like he edited the MIDI signals after recording, making them fit into the tempo.. then he matched the video to the sound, watch the video closely.

this guy deserves nothing but a big FAIL stamped on his forehead.

  • @twitty666 do you know anything about video editing?? this shit is speed up ¬¬

  • @twitty666 sry mate if look at the first 2 seconds of the video you can clearly see that the whole thing is sped up

  • @twitty666 rudess himself cant do this one-handed...so shut up...everyone can do this video...playing fast is not the same of playing slow..some parts cant done one handed and also not so clean as this...maybe you dont play keyb, I do! So I can speak...you cant! Ok?

  • @rudess84 But he does play with one hand on this solo...

  • @rudess84 Rudess himself CAN do this one handed, and i play keyboard and i can play this one handed, and i know a lot of people who can play this one handed.

  • Comment removed

  • ooh gotta love the whammy wheel.

  • ahahahaahahah sssspppppped up

  • Very nice I love the tune =) and all though I can't deny that there was some video editing done here lol I still like it but to be honest Jordan Rudess can go that fast so it believable, but you can see parts of the video cutting and some parts that are obvious xD but speed is not everything if you have a solid good, catchy Melodie your set. but anyway keep it up 5/5* for effort =D

  • It's true that the video was sped up, you can see how his body movements are unusually quick and stiff at the beginning of the video.

To the guy in the video, you can lick my fucking ass and balls.

  • its an easy tune, i play it with my nose only.

  • I'm sorry... it's fake.. dude, you shouldnt do that...... lol

  • hahahahahahahaha is speed up

  • @xilionxilion is speed up? did you mean its sped up? and no its not sped up it just has a very low framerate giving the illusion that his hand is moving faster than it is (it already is moving very quickly). Watch the end of the video, his movement looks natural when he's bobbing around/humping his keyboard...

  • @xilionxilion try listening to dream theater, try playing the keyboard, try actually learning what music is aside from vocals, and you'll feel like an idiot for saying that.

think about it, the fastest rappers can hit various notes in random octaves really fast, (unless u think they magically speed up on stage too..) why couldnt fingers do the same thing with another instrument?

but hey, if you feel cool.. that's all that matters right.

you got 5 thumbs, fuckin rockstar, tell ur friends!

  • @stevedap0pe hahahah, I play in a progressive metal band, I can play faster than petrucci. I don't feal myself an idiot, I just feal 15 year of training.

  • @xilionxilion You can play faster than petrucci... so what? many people play faster than petrucci and you can see it on youtube.. even he admits saying that sometimes when he wateches youtube for a song he often finds people how play faster than him... so if u think you are better than him why arent you famous try guessing what makes petrucci better than you, maybe you'll figure it out someday...

  • Thats fake, you speed up the video ¬¬

  • thast fake

  • So is your account.

    Beh, trolls.. 'T_T

  • Some minor mistakes, but an amazing performance nonetheless

  • Comment removed

  • AHahahahahaha, thats awesome xD

  • why is this sped up?

  • it's no speed up! he's just a badass keyboarder!

  • i no that hes a very talented key boardist but some parts just look sped up im not criticising him at all

  • also if u look at him in the beginning hes moving very unnaturally

  • so what?

  • it means hes not playing it for real hes playing it at a slower tempo and cheating it up to real speed

  • of course i knew what you mean, but one can see that it is a real-time footage!

you should check out his "super mario" vid!

  • Watch the headphone cable. It swings at real-world speed.

  • well a cable can swing at any speed but for a human body to move that unnatural is sped up

  • it really doesn't at all

  • The thing that makes me go 'hmm' is the fact that not even Rudess plays this one-handed (as seen on the Score DVD).

  • the thing that makes me go "hmm" is that he sped up a video of him believeably banging on the keyboard and put a midi file of the solo as the audio

  • shit, you did it aLL right!

  • Ace work man!

  • for all the douches out there who say its sped up or fake, send me a video of you doing it, you can tell its not sped up because of the cord swinging at a normal pace, and its not fake either because look at his fingers, even if he could fake that well, he would be able to play it, dumbasses think this is fake, i love it. Nice job man

  • nahhh m8 if u look at the chord it doesnt swing at a normal speed. It's sped up but still impressive, even at the normal speed he had to play it it was still probably pretty fast :)

  • close

  • you can tell its fake because his fingers hit with so much power because it was recorded slower and it just looks to controlled and robotic only a fool would think that was real. or its just some robotic looking human being

  • HA! at least give me some credits for this patch :P

    lol just kidding.

  • Comment removed

  • Thats awesome! Now write it

  • Comment removed

  • your the retard, watch the cord connected to his headphones, it is moving back and forth at a regular motion.

  • you guys are retarted, if you watch the the cord attatched to his headphones, it is moving regularly and not sped up

  • noticed that too, but the retard is you...when he jumps from one part of the keyboard to another, it is clear it is not normal speed...you can see this behaviour throughout the whole video....maybe his body moves normally, but it could be because he practiced his movement...

  • phenomenal chops man! I can hardly believe it's possible to do this with one hand, I know I use both hands a lot while playing this. and don't worry about the transcription, I have the transcripts and it is flawless. Mind, I suppose you'll be ordering the DREAM THEATER KEYBOARD EXPERIENCE, which has this song in it!! Woo!

  • not true, I just spent several, several hours learning this... hard to believe as it may seem, this guy is legit. I know exactly what this solo looks like when played, and he is really playing it.

  • hehe nice job =)

  • Yep. A lot of synth sounds, depending on the setting, only allow one note to be played. So no chords or letting notes ring out while other notes are going on.

So what happens is the notes just jump to each other, sometimes with a slide or whatever, which can sound like hes using a pitch or modulation wheel but really its just a quick grouping of notes.

    Good stuff.

  • dope

  • Most of the covers on any instrument I see on youtube are utter shit. This one is fucking awesome!=] I'm not a keyboard player but it sounded perfect to me.

  • dude sweet...which voice do u use on reason 4.0?? is it a built in sound or just a voice u created??!!

  • but you dont do the bends with your left hand but u can hear al lots of bends -.-

  • I don't hear bends... I think it's just the sound

  • There are no bends in this solo, it's just the sound.

  • 5 STARS!!!

  • It seems to me like kind of scottish music in one hand. Although I heard it with many cuts, I think its nice.

  • incredible...

  • nice man its perfect

  • damn thats awesome

  • damn, that's a bit on the unbelievable side right there.

  • holy shit i almost thought that was sped up

    awesomeawesome job man

  • It does look speeded up, but i doubt it really is. Im playing this solo one handed aswell and i know that it looks exactly like this.

  • WTF, you're good!

  • it sounds like good battle music for an oldschool JRPG

  • dude you are great!! let´s form a band check out my videos....I´ll be in Canada in June,

  • Rudess does this one handed too, but i don't consider his skill human so...

  • hey nice playing dude, I have never played a keyed instrument before but i have just bought this keyboard of ebay and hope to learn to play. Can you explain how you custom weight a keyboard and what the purpose is? also any tips on gettin starting? jordan rudess is my favorite

  • this is not sped up you fukin gay retards...if you still want proof...watch the headset wire moving...its not sped up!!!

  • awsome man, good job

  • five stars, you make that look easy haha

  • THIS IS NOT SPEED UP YOU R-TARD-NOOBS, Look to the cable of the headphones, its just at right speed with gravity, i also can do it, its posible, if you are not talented dont post your "i cant do it" in a "this is speed up" msg,,,, ¬¬ noobs, hate you all

  • stop being so jelious moron.

  • solos like this NEVER look natural moron.

btw best interpretation ive seen by now. first song ever heard of DT (guess 4 years ago lol) u do perfect man

    5* and additional propz

  • a monster!!!

  • Looks sped up to me and here's why.

The way you jump between octaves, then slow down for a slight second then jump again looks completely unnatural. Any keyboardist who can get to this level has gotten to the level where they slide their thumb underneath the rest of their hand to sweep between octaves. Yours just jolts.

  • Speed up man!!??

    Ahhhhhhhh

  • honor to you man is great THE BEST

  • well playd, but couldnt you find a better sound in your Keyboard ?

  • speed up

  • Rudess would be proud, then he'd remember that hes Jordan Rudesss and continue hating anyone who tries to be like him.

  • SUPER!!!!!!!!

  • imposibly imposible!!! Thats great omg!

  • Is this fasten up :O

  • Am I the only one who thinks this looks sped up? It looks as if he recorded it at a slower speed, then sped it up to get it up to tempo. I'm not accusing anyone of anything...just saying: the constant rocking back and forth rapidly, the way the fingers move...just subtle hints suggest it might be. 5/5 anyways...having played it myself, I know how difficult the solo can be, and if it is full speed, you have my respect :)

  • i agree

  • nah man, it can't be sped up.

if it is, his body moves abnormally slow.

He's moving to the beat to keep in time, and if not, close.

plus his headphone cord is moving at a normal speed.

so yeah. Its just an all around good job here.
