What a true bad ass. How many jumps is he credited with making? What was his longest jump? I wonder what he could have done with today's equipment? Nothing against Harley or Triumph but those things were much heavier than what his son is jumping. Without question - one of the all-time greats!

@elvez1231 In 300 jumps he missed or crashed I believe only 10 times. His longest jump was 14 buses at Kings Island in Cincinnati. He went with the Harley XR-750 because of the power and it's a flat track racing bike. He even said "if I had had the bikes they're jumping with today like the one Robbie jumps with I could've jumped the moon". Yep, The Greatest Daredevil.

I was in Butte, MT last year when the BBC was filming a documentary on his life. He was still a crowd pleaser - and as frail as he was in his last few years - he was still a showman.

He started a whole generation of kids jumping bikes - my first broken clavicle can attest to that.

The biggest mistake Evel ever made was go after Shelly Saltman with a baseball bat. Saltman later produced documents in both criminal and civil court that proved that, although Knievel claimed to have been insulted by statements in Saltman's book, he and his lawyers had actually been given editorial access to the book and had approved and signed off on every word prior to its publication.

Evel Knievel was truly the ultimate "daredevil". He didn't use any of those light weight bikes they use now for jumps, he used very heavy but powerful Harley Davidson bikes instead. The Clip from 0:59-1:11 is his(Evel's)son Robbie Kenievel doing the exact same jump that almost ended Evel's life 10 or so years earlier. Evel insisted that Robbie build a safety ramp, and that ramp saved Robbie's life, because he hit the safety ramp 15 feet short of the real ramp. If Robbie hadn't built the safety ramp, he would've decapitated himself.
