Iv had the Sony mdr xb 500 and the beats studio. And ill have to admit.... Nothing beats the Sony's. I would easily pay 400 dollars for them. But lucky for me, they are only 80 bucks

Beats are bad because they are overpriced. People buy them because they think they're cool. You can buy some 50 dollars sennheiser, or sony much better than them. I have used beats before and yes they have LOTS of bass but it sounds like crap if you turn it up louder. another thing is that beats have frequency response of about 20-20,000hz and i could go out and buy some that have frequency response twice that of the beats. one last thing, don't give me crap saying that i can't afford them. if i wanted to i could go and get a pair.
who cares about freq resp, most people cant hear under and over 20hz-20khz, they using their Beats with portable players which are mostly 20-20, most of today music is cut on 20-20, so why typical user should care about freqs?

Was so disappointed when I first listened to both the Beats By Dre Solos and Studios. I had high expectations and unfortunately Monster did not meet them :( If I'm gonna be honest they sounded good but for the money they could be much better. Are headphones for listening to music or looking good? Fashion overrides function in this line. The dude acknowledges audio quality is nowhere near what the price dictates. In my book these headphones need more dollars than sense to purchase. Then again, it depends what purpose you want the product for.
@vincentlett your probably just a basshead... you ask any audiophile and they will tell you the same thing I did, beats are trash. The bass is muddy and the highs and mids are horrible. They are the furthest thing away from audiophile quality.
@cybernetaxes any good pair of cans from audio-technica, sennheiser, ultrasone, BeyerDynamics, etc.. I have tried M50s, AD700s, DT770s as well as plenty others. As of now my current favorite are the DT770 PRO 80 ohm. They have very nice mids and highs as well as enough bass to satisfy without overpowering the rest of the spectrum. They are a closed design but breathe so your ears dont get hot (like the m50s do). Ultrasone pro 550 is also VERY good.
Regardless, senns, are not meant for the consumers. I have played in the orchestra for 8 years. I know my highs and lows. I can hear it all in studios. They're not muddy. I love music, and though I'm not an audio engineer, I still say these are not bad. The price tag is basically from the aesthetics of this product.

They're not bad headphones, they're bad sounding and frail for the money (including diminishing returns). Beats By Dre are AKG's at twice the price. Monster Cable makes them, Dre doesn't make them and Dre had nothing to do with their creation. Monster Cable Inc. specialize in audio cables. They didn't get into the headphone business until just recently, when they had the great idea to copy AKG's and approach superstars like Dre and Gaga to slap their names on them and split the profits 80/20. So yea, next time you buy a headphone, research, i personally recommend Denons, Senns, or Beyerdynamic. :)

Dont know if somebody has replied to you but noise cancellation is a system where it uses fancy technology to block outside noise, so you can put them on and listen to them in a noisy bus and not hear any outside noise while you listen to your tunes. You can't hear cars beeping at you, people talking to you etc. Good when you are somewhere noisy. Has it's place, but over-ear phones block a lot of outside noise anyway. Sound leakage is where your sounds are heard by other people sitting next to u
I like your love and reviews, but - some terms for you. Circumaural. thats where your ear goes inside the headphone and it seals. Supra-aural - "over ear" such as Grado designs (nice choice on the SR60!) Comfortability isn't a word, just say comfort. the cables - 3.5mm or 1/8" cable is what fits portable devices. 1/4" is bigger plug used for audio equipment.
you should check out B&W P5s. passive noise cancel -- they seal tight. they aren't too big, the travel better.

@vincentlett your probably just a basshead... you ask any audiophile and they will tell you the same thing I did, beats are trash. The bass is muddy and the highs and mids are horrible. They are the furthest thing away from audiophile quality.

@cybernetaxes any good pair of cans from audio-technica, sennheiser, ultrasone, BeyerDynamics, etc.. I have tried M50s, AD700s, DT770s as well as plenty others. As of now my current favorite are the DT770 PRO 80 ohm. They have very nice mids and highs as well as enough bass to satisfy without overpowering the rest of the spectrum. They are a closed design but breathe so your ears dont get hot (like the m50s do). Ultrasone pro 550 is also VERY good.

Regardless, senns, are not meant for the consumers. I have played in the orchestra for 8 years. I know my highs and lows. I can hear it all in studios. They're not muddy. I love music, and though I'm not an audio engineer, I still say these are not bad. The price tag is basically from the aesthetics of this product.

@ooopepper Audiophile=consumer market, albeit higher-end than the typical buyer. The audiophiles push for better sound, which is why the recording studios have to improve their setups.
They're not bad headphones, they're bad sounding and frail for the money (including diminishing returns). People don't necessarily aim for the highest fidelity, it's too much time and effort for something that they listen to in passing. The price IS wholly in the aesthetic and the culture it implies.

Beats By Dre are AKG's at twice the price. Monster Cable makes them, Dre doesn't make them and Dre had nothing to do with their creation. Monster Cable Inc. specialize in audio cables. They didn't get into the headphone business until just recently, when they had the great idea to copy AKG's and approach superstars like Dre and Gaga to slap their names on them and split the profits 80/20. So yea, next time you buy a headphone, research, i personally recommend Denons, Senns, or Beyerdynamic. :)

If you authentically care about your sound quality, go Bose. No argument to be had. Beats are a fad where they sell due to marketing and aesthetics. Just like a lot of things in America, there's much style without substance eg, Justin Beiber, Kardashians, Katy Perry, Real Houswives, Jersey Shore, etc. I do not take anyone seriously who proposes that beats sound fantastic just like I don't take anyone seriously who proposes Twilight to be a great movie.

I got them for £20 on Amazon. Like you save £200+ on getting Skullcandys instead of Beats and like I said all your paying for on the beats is the Dr.Dre. Even though the Skullcandys have about the same bass and sound quality. SO GO FOR SKULLCANDYS!

Beats are an absolute RIP off. They would be about £100 but they're not because some little dick called Dr.Dre desides to slap his name on them and now they are like £300. Although the sound quality is good and the bass is fantastic, these headphones suck for the price. Moving on from that, Skullcandys, they also have very good bass and sound quality, they look cool, and the ones I have (I own beats aswell) are the Skullcandy Uprocks which are only £25 and

Basically what you get with Monster Beats by Dre is great styling, great packaging, mediocre sound. Anyone who says the sound is the best they've ever heard from a headphone is nothing more than a fanboy. There are so many headphones, even much older models that are way ahead of these as far as sound quality.

Dont know if somebody has replied to you but noise cancellation is a system where it uses fancy technology to block outside noise, so you can put them on and listen to them in a noisy bus and not hear any outside noise while you listen to your tunes. You can't hear cars beeping at you, people talking to you etc. Good when you are somewhere noisy. Has it's place, but over-ear phones block a lot of outside noise anyway. Sound leakage is where your sounds are heard by other people sitting next to u

I like your love and reviews, but - some terms for you. Circumaural. thats where your ear goes inside the headphone and it seals. Supra-aural - "over ear" such as Grado designs (nice choice on the SR60!) Comfortability isn't a word, just say comfort. the cables - 3.5mm or 1/8" cable is what fits portable devices. 1/4" is bigger plug used for audio equipment.
you should check out B&W P5s. passive noise cancel -- they seal tight. they aren't too big, the travel better.

i have a friend who got these and he loves them. i got the wireless but they dropped a TON so i returned them and got solos because i heard the bass was better in those than studios but they started falling apart so i returned them. now im searching for some headphones w/ the bass of the solos but quality of something better.

I got those for christmas after i returned the wireless beats i had gotten for dropping and disconnecting from my ipod too much. i went through two pairs of beats in a week and a half. i refuse to use the studios because if they feel that they can release and sell at least (b/c idk of the other ones) 2 pairs of faulty headphones they dont deserve the profits. coldhearted really. ill support another brand. maybe if he drops detox ill reconsider.
