  • No, the hen probably couldn't care less about kittens, she just doesn't consider them as a threat. But, that is a nice substitute for warming up when their mother isn't around. Though it can get really uncomfortably hot under a hen.

  • thats really cool and interesting..

  • First of all, if you look closely, the hen wasnt sitting on the kittens but was sitting on the eggs. Then the person took one of the kittens out, placed it next to the chicken and if you watch really closely, you can see his hands reaching for the feathers and making the chickens wing to supposedly "cuddle" the kitten. But unforutnately no, hens arent broody with other species.

  • You made my bad day better, thanks!!!!

  • 0:58-1:03 she listening him whisper

  • That is just to cute. Thanks for sharing this video ! ;o)

  • OMG the most precious thing ever...

  • 0:52 reminded me of alien!!!! But this video is adorable!!! I love Hens and Ducks and Kittens!!!

  • LINDA LIÇÃO PARA UNS Q SE DIZEM HUMANOS

  • Nossa, lindo demais!Oh,se os humanos aprendessem um pouquinho com os animais!

  • I love this, thank you for sharing.

  • lol the hen is probably thinking "it's ok baby.. even though you are different.... mommy loves you" haha very cute! :)

  • Fabulous!!

  • I love the hen at around 0:43. She's like, "Excuse me, that's mines!"

    Adorable :3

  • even better when the kitten tucks its head (which is not open eyed yet) the same way a baby chick uses the wing to peak out... wow.

  • that's funny!

  • to funny !!

  • what good mother my silkie hens are the same way

  • What a good momma!! Had a similar experience with a surrogate mom. Except it was a goose that abandoned her egg and my banty hen finished the job. 10 days later we had a gosling. After 4 weeks old the gosling would follow the geese and the mama hen followed the baby. They all got along and still do today!!Mother's Day is a little confusing tho!! Ha ha!!

  • Is that a mix? She looks like a Road-island Red mixed with a White Leghorn. She's beautiful by the way!

  • Too funny! and cute!

  • she's actually warming the eggs and the kittens are getting a free radiator

  • do you have video of that kitten (under the wing) when its full grown?

  • SQUEEE! That is the most precious thing on the planet! My heart just smiled!

  • @RMSherbon You should probably get that checked out. It's definitely not normal for hearts to smile.

  • Now that is cute... to bad people can't get along so well!

  • So sweet!!!

And I like how caring and gentle you are with your animals there.

What hapened - did the mother cat reject her kittens?

  • Yet another reason chickens are awesome.

  • Respond to this video... Thats so sweet when they surrogate mother other animals. Nice video and a gorgeous hen!

  • @RingBearer1992 Its a little known fact but chickens can not smell. Most birds can't. I know weird huh?

  • lol @ the kitten at the end.. "Huh... wtf? If this thing doesn't meow or purr, then I'm outta here!!"

  • awww very cute. I don't think she is being broody over the kittens though, just protecting her eggs.

  • @RingBearer1992 I don't think its a scent, more the broody chicken doesn't fight back. There is a strong pecking order with chickens, and if you don't maintain your status, you get pushed around. If your spending all your energy keeping eggs warm, you don't have much energy to tell the other chooks to nick off.

  • cute hand..

  • aww, put that kitten back under the hen!

  • So those cats would be chats? Or hats? OOOH or Brats! lol

  • My teacher thought birds breastfed.....administration found out and fired her... lol very cute

  • @Hunterlauren93 ahhahah thats soo funny :D

  • @Hunterlauren93 Let me guess ... You're American ? :)

  • kk look i noe that that is a red sexlink chicken how the hell u get it to go broody

    that amazing

  • Lol. I totally love how the kitten sticks it head out through the wing xD And the chicken is like, hey, where are you going?

  • How cute their probably suckling on her teats.

  • @Nebrox Give me a moment to laugh xD Chickens do not have teats!

  • @eevvJ15 Yeah I know but fun to speak crap sometimes.

  • just out of curiosity, is the momma kitty ok? was the hen kitten-sitting (no pun intended) or what?

  • i like that hen~ =D

    gotta go brood~ =]

  • Oh my goodness that is amazingly cute!!!!

  • what happened to the kitten's mother? Who feeds them?

  • i like hens it is very beatiful

  • but the self centered not too large little human that has this hen doesn't believe in altering domestic animals. how lovely and kind. its 2011 and you can still stay off the grid(if thats your concern) and alter domestics thus keeping their numbers down. I also have chickens(layers/1 roo) and THEY are not altered but I eat the excess chickens. the barn cats I ALTER and they do a fabulous job and I don't have to eat excess kittens.(a joke-altho not funny) spay and neuter or you ARE an idiot.

  • I love broody hens, they're so funny and cute. :)

  • We have a cat that has chicken babies - she watches over our baby chicks that we have purchased in the past. She is very protective of them even though they are now bigger than she!!!

  • doesn't this remind you of milo and otis? "chicken mommy"

    squee at the cuteness

  • Sad. Hope you've compassioned up since this and spayed/neutered all barn cats A mousers a mouser. My barn cats ignore the chickens and I have not seen a rodent(live) in years.

  • This is one of the sweetest things ever.

  • That's adorable :)

  • now who can abuse and kill something that precious? very cute c:

  • erm ill watch out if i was u kittens turn in to cats some day dey might eat there foster mum lol

  • Adorable. chickens and kittens are my favorite animals

  • That's cute. :D

  • What Happened To The Mother Cat

  • Too funny ... silly hen

  • That's weird for RIRxRIW crosses to go broody. They're specially bred not to.

  • I hope momma cat didn't stay away too long, cuz even though that loving hen keeps them warm and protected, we know she doesn't have any milk..Haha. She's a great hen.

  • wow. this is so cute. my pet chickens look just like this hen, but they never sit on their eggs. nice video.

    Nick

  • If I were the Rooster, I would be EXTREMELY suspicious about now!

    "Where's that Tomcat!!!"

  • how cute.

  • that is pretty freaking cool!

  • Okay, why on earth is that hen not pecking the crap out of your hand?

  • The kittens are probably like "WOW! This baby sitter smells delicious!"

  • That is a determined hen, and a smart mother cat to find a nice warm place for her kittens. Too cute!

  • 16 people are heartless bastards

seriously why would anyone click the dislike button on this?

  • AWWWWWWWW :) :)

  • Awww but where is the mommy cat?

  • At least you know they won't grow up to be chick killers.

  • "MY KITTIES, BITCH"

  • How would like it if you were just sleeping soundly when a mass of feathers pinned you down and all day yelled BBUUUUUUUUUWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKK!!!!!!!

  • É fácil forçar o gato a ficar com a galinha...quero ver ele aceitar....

  • So cute the way the little kitten peeps out of the wing - 0:50 XD

  • Years ago I made a mistake and put viable hen eggs under a broody duck because it had always worked well for a hen to raise ducklings. Those poor babies lived , but the mama duck waded them through water and didn't lower herself when they were cold.Wrong idea to go that way....

  • Ok, I'm dead from cute now.

  • You can hatch just about anything except kittens. Too cute!

  • what is the breed of that hen??

  • @hjestrella Cross between a Rhode Island Red and White.

  • @daetabit Awesome, now what should the male be to get this hen?

  • @daetabit It is called a Golden Comet, Very very docile birds, Good egg layers, they will produce close to 300 eggs a year and lay through winter. They are also called Red Stars, Or Sex-links. Which are chickens you can determine their gender by their color.

  • @daetabit its called bovas goldline i have four of the same breed

  • This is the cutest thing I have seen in a while!

  • the face of the kitten at 0:55 was soooooooooooo cute...Really nice video

  • beautiful

  • That's too cute! There's nothing more motherly than a broody hen.

  • The kittens are probably all melted, like when they get into a spot of sunshine. They turn into limp blobs.

  • Ahhh. Thats cute.

  • How come she doesn't peck?

  • That's cool!

  • arrrh soo cute

  • Oh I love chicken they are sooo nice mothers!

  • @Alishan209 Cats don't tend to kill animals that they grow up with. And most cats don't take on a full grown chicken anyway. Why do you think the mother cat hasn't killed the chicken? And shame on you for maligning an entire species as evil. Cats aren't evil. Many humans, however, are. I suspect you are one such person for thinking it's okay to throw a living creature into the trash. To bad no one threw you in the trash years ago.

  • Aww that's cute. But looks more like she's protecting her eggs.

  • awww that's adorable

  • Very sweet. Chickens are wonderful!

  • She makes quite a devoted babysitter. =^.^=

  • "MINE!!! Don't touch mah kittehs!!!!"

  • I'm surprised that hen isn't trying to peck the crap outta your hand. When mine get broody there's no way I'd reach for them without a glove on.

  • Can i get that clucking noise on iTunes does anyone know ? it's quite tuneful.

  • i didint now chickens cared for kittehs

  • That's the cutest thing I've ever seen.

  • Oh my goodness.....SO adorable! :o) I have a barn cat named Sidney that I adopted from a vet clinic. He was found almost dead in the middle of a county road :o( He's the BEST cats...very effectionate. :o) Nice vid!

  • That is sooo cute!

  • animals are cute

  • Comment removed

  • its funny how we think that some animals comuniate w/ one another- here we have proof!

  • How sweet! I love animals!

  • when these kittens grow up, they will be the protector of chickens against pesky big ass rodents.

  • so moe~

  • tastes like chickitten

  • aww..that was so cute....

  • agreed :)

  • I love seeing stuff like this. It proves that animals are not always "prey and predator", and that they can get along. Reminds me of a pitbull that watched over some chicks, and a mother cat that adopted an orphaned baby squirrel.

  • that was cute the kitten 0:55

  • thats a bloody loud chicken

  • 0:56

    Heehee! LOL.

  • mother hen reminds me of my mother when i was young. 5 stars

  • cute video! thanks!

  • lol The kittens like get me outtta this stupid chicken!

  • Those kittens will be eating that chicken in a few months!

  • not if they think the chicken is their mother! lol

  • it might take 6-8 months and her foster kids will be eating her next brood

  • Aw, cute! :)

  • Cool Mama!

  • How sweet, wonder if the kitties try to suckle off Mrs Chook. Bet that would make her grumpy.

  • @rosahlyn That is a most excellent point, I was wondering that myself!

  • ah thats adorable

  • i LOVE this video!!!

  • cuteee xD

  • if you could make a puppy hatch out an egg she would look after it.

  • AFF MÓH NADA A VE

  • 0:53 Adorable!

  • That's so precious!

    XD

  • thats a bit mean 2 chicken, but ur kittens must like that big blanket, lol:]

  • @lusti89 Wow, have issues much???

  • thats a pretty nice broody hen

  • Mom's gotta stick together.

  • Kittens say ''we are friends now, but your food in a few months.''

    Bless, thats so cute.

  • That's very cute. I think they enjoy eachother because they're both warm!!

  • too cute!

  • Heh! Man, that just goes to show ... not even birds are immune to the cuteness that is kittens.

  • lol!

  • How Cute is that!

  • kittens!!!

  • Very cute. I'm sure the kittens appreciated the broody hen's warmth.

  • The underside of chickens are VERY warm! They must love it.

  • She knows it's a baby; ahh mom... :)

  • THIS GOES AGAINST THE LAWS OF NATURE!!!!! nah its cool good vid 3/5

  • Our Kitty, now spayed, lived in the hen house. When she had 6 babies, she kept moving them to the hen's nest. We started finding eggs on them. See "chicken hatches kittens" on here. Your kittie is so cute when she pokes her head under the wing!

  • didnt look like she was exactly looking after the kittens but still very cute :) can i ask what happened to the mother?

  • Mother was hanging around, just making use of available heating space.

  • What kind of chicken is she?

  • That is just AMAZING. My husband found newborn kittens in the backyard and I've been taking care of them for 4 weeks now. I have a broody hen AND duck and I don't think I would trust them not to hurt the kitties. Your hen is amazing.

  • to cute

  • *pokes head out*

    aaaahhahahahaha so cute

  • ah chickens arent they just funny she seems pretty mad your taking her off her new "chicks" rotfl

  • Aww, that's so precious.
