Well technically it is a British Anthem as the Queen is the legal head of state over the U.K. just the different entities within the U.K. can't all sing the same anthem as its a multi national country
Gordon Banks was the greatest keeper England ever had. He had tremendous reflexes, strength and positional awareness. He was also as brave as a lion. In short, the perfect keeper.
Banks was a great shop stopper during a time when this was the only keeper's job. I would say Schmiechel and Nev Southall were better, only because they played more like a sweeper or last line of defence.
@dontcomm They're nothing close to the worst. They've both had more than their fair share of injuries. They make mistakes (James more than anyone), but they make important saves for their teams. Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal could have beaten Blackburn at Ewood if it hadn't been for Robinson, and Portsmouth would have been relegated long before if James didn't pitch in with those saves. I would heavily criticize Seaman because he was only good for Arsenal, and not England.
@realmadridsince1998 Ok, first and foremost, I was being slightly sarcastic in that they are the worst - the point I was making was that they shouldn't be mentioned alongside the all-time greats.
@dontcomm Well, it's been a long time since Shilton, and David and Paul are the best since. Rob Green is a loyal servant, but he isn't the best. I think that if Joe Hart gets the right experience and exposure, he'll be the best goalkeeper that England has had for a long time.
A good goalkeeper, but I have seen a lot of better keepers...he became famous mainly for his save against Pele.....beside that he was not at the same level as legends like Yashin, Zoff, Schmeichel, Meier, Buffon....but that is of course just my opinion...

Banks (like Peter Shilton) totally commanded the six-yard box as if to say to opposing forwards- "This is MY patch and don't you ever forget it".
Not many keepers have that ability to totally dominate.

@hardyboyz6500 Did you just compare Shilton and Banks to James and Robinson...? Two of the best keepers England have ever seen to two of the worst?

This song represents Great Britain. Banks played for ENGLAND.

Yeah but Scotland and Wales have their own anthems, so I'd class this as more of an English anthem than British.
