I read somewhere that there is now one person in the world that has a doctorate degree in Robert Pirsig. I think is is a university somewhere in England that offers such a degree. It is a PhD in Metaphysics of Quality, MOQ. Zen and the Art of Motocycle Maintenance is one of my favorite books. I use to work in a gear lab where we measured spec in microns. I was always telling the production people about Zen and the Art. I wanted them to read the book. It is the only book I have read twice.
mark richardson you are an annoying motherfucker, i went all the way to the library and accidentally got your stupid book when i was trying to get the real one, i bet the only people who bought your book made the same mistake, scam artist motherfucker
I loved Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenence. I especially enjoyed the last half, where Pirsig is truly getting into the real meat of quality and zen. It's an amazing seminal book which has changed my life in many ways.
Zen and he art of motorcycle maintenance - I like the part abt travelling and motorcycles. A little philosophy in it was enlightening. But some parts I couldn't fathom or were seriously boring. Took a very long time to read.
I read your book and I found little quality.

@jeffbriggs1987 Haha, my wife did exactly the same thing last night when asked her to get me Zen from our local library.

derivative - what did Pirsig say about seeking self glorification?

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is an excellent guide to philosophy.
This guy seriously annoys me. Dumbing down Zen, removing it's reflections sounds profane to me.
Zen was and is a master stroke.
I read the book, and dare say I did understand most of it.
It took me over a year to work through, but I don't regret an hour I spent reading it.
If a person can't be bothered studying the book carefully,
I don't see how a watered down book helps.
