I am very fortunate (and proud) to be represented by a Democrat who still votes on the People's behalf- Wisconsin's own Russ Feingold. Though, most Democrats and Republicans are essentially two factions of the Corporate Party of America, dialing for corporate dollars and voting on corporations' behalf. We The People need to take back control of our government. We need to demand more of our representatives, and/or consider the third party candidates in local, state, and federal elections.
Republicans want the government to suck because they stand for only one thing = as little government as possible.
The worse that government performs the better the republican party will do politically. They will stall every single item to come through because they want failure, meanwhile they open pocket books to have business rule everything to help them get reelected.

perhaps a change to IP/copyright laws? look at what open-source has done for tech sector. why can't we have open business processes/franchises, a marketplace for biz ideas, let Gov. libraries serve torrents for books, video, audio, statistics, research. prioritize and publish national interests in innovation. provide online voting on micro-issues and micro-debates?
oligopolies are the bottleneck. tip the scale; empower small businesses to compete with the barons. a scientific/tech agrarian age could be the new economy. look at oDesk, Elance, micro-finance, RichDad entrepreneurial education, SaaS, SoA) let's provide these type of jobs, no more fool's errand public works projects.

I think he's speaking the truth here, and I'm glad to see a president do it for once. His health care plan still sucks though. He compromised to allow mandatory participation while doing nothing ensure costs will be controlled. It's a terrible law, the country will be immeasurably better off if it's killed before it take effect. And I think passing that monstrous compromise, that shameless giveaway to the insurance industry, at the peoples' expense, is going to cost democrats dearly.

The neighborhood I grew up was on the program that gave welfare recipients homes w low morgage payments starting at $65 a month. Within 10 years 2 to 3 homes on every block were abandoned and in direr repair with a gov. sticker on them. Eventually they were sold and rehabbed to private contractors who fixed them up and re sold them the loss to taxpayers was huge.

There has never been a pure Capitalistic society. There has never been a pure Socialistic society. Neither will ever exist..why? Because neither work in the purest form. A pure Capitalist society requires a LOT of personal charity because a purely Capitalist society would have the Government run on donations and payments for services offered.
A purely Socialist society would require that everyone be willing to share everything with everyone.
The hybrid form works. The trick is keeping it balanced in a way that the parasite/socialist side doesn't become too draining on the host/capitalist side.

Nice talking point...except it's complete B.S. When Republicans last ran the show, unemployment was 4.3% and the deficit was in decline. In 2007 Democrats took control of Congress (and therefore all spending and legislation), and the deficit reversed itself and 4.3% unemployment became the 9.6% we're suffering under now.

I think he's speaking the truth here, and I'm glad to see a president do it for once. His health care plan still sucks though. He compromised to allow mandatory participation while doing nothing ensure costs will be controlled. It's a terrible law, the country will be immeasurably better off if it's killed before it take effect. And I think passing that monstrous compromise, that shameless giveaway to the insurance industry, at the peoples' expense, is going to cost democrats dearly.

The neighborhood I grew up was on the program that gave welfare recipients homes w low morgage payments starting at $65 a month. Within 10 years 2 to 3 homes on every block were abandoned and in direr repair with a gov. sticker on them. Eventually they were sold and rehabbed to private contractors who fixed them up and re sold them the loss to taxpayers was huge.

Next I would remind you that the bail outs began under Bush, and that the recession began under Bush. Combating a recession requires a lot of initial spending. I like this video and would love to see the President keep this up. The Gulf Coast has been destroyed by an International Corporation. The water is not safe to swim in and the valuable seafood industry is dead. Pres. Obama should support the citizens down there and stop ignoring the toxic disaster. BP needs to made an example of for cutting costs and is responsible for killing the fishing and tourism industry down there.

What pisses me off is everybody giving Obama crap and The Bush Administration is the one that got us into this mess in the first place! At least Obama has some ideas and would like to put some things into action, but, wow...Congress has not let him do anything at all. If they would quit stalling everything he tries to do, maybe the economy would have already turned around! He would like to start working on the infastructure, but no, they shoot down every idea he has. I think it's BULLSHIT!

Obama didn't get us into this mess. He was handed this bag of shit to try to fix. If Congress won't let him do any of the things that he said he would do if elected, that's not his fault either then, is it? They should step back and let him walk or let him fall. @mommajuggalo1 The dems control congress and have passed every big spending bill w/o republican support. Because they did that we are in worse shape. Obama is just Bush on steroids. Stimulus did not bring jobs and HC did not lower premiums. When Obama took office unemployment was 7.4% it is now close to 10% and rising. HC premiums have gone up more sense the bill was pasted then if we had done nothing. We are $1.4 trillion in debt. What have we got to show for it? The economy is worse.

Nice talking point...except it's complete B.S. When Republicans last ran the show, unemployment was 4.3% and the deficit was in decline. In 2007 Democrats took control of Congress (and therefore all spending and legislation), and the deficit reversed itself and 4.3% unemployment became the 9.6% we're suffering under now.

Furthermore, it's funny that your statistics don't at all jive with those from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It's also comical that you ignore the fact that unemployment has gotten EVEN WORSE since Democrats obtained their Senate super-majority and the White House.
4.6% unemployment when Democrats took Congress. 9.6% now.
