  • You playing this on an emulator? How did you set it up?

  • E P I C !!! SEGA Saturn was unbeatable in 2D!!!

  • The Saturn version was DUH obviously better than the PS version. I just wish it was released in the US

  • lol dalsim at the start

  • It's funny how supposedly PSX was "superior" to the Saturn but its load times were shit for this game. I remember I could take a bit out of a sandwich or a sip of soda while waiting for the game to load on my friends PSX.

  • @inuyasha103190 Keep in mind the Saturn couldn't do either of these games on its own out of the box either. Yes, they're great conversions, but at the same time without that RAM cartridge the results would've been ghastly similar to PS1. Maybe a little better with some animations, but you wouldn't have tag team gameplay.

Some may consider this blasphemy, but a compilation like that of SFA Anthology on PS2 or better would be what it would take for these games to be 100% key to the arcade.

  • @darknight068 even without the RAM cart, the Saturn still had beefier hardware that was far superior to the PS1 in terms of 2D graphics (sprites).

The Saturn could have probably kept the 2v2 gameplay with a siginificant portion of lost animation frames, while we all know that the PS1 couldn't even keep the 2v2 gameplay because of it's severe lack of VRAM and poor sprite capabilities.

Every single CPS2 game--and NeoGeo game--that was ported to the Saturn and PS1 was superior on the Saturn.

  • @lookitskazzy Ya the saturn was built for 2d,while Ps1 was built for 3d.Sega tried to make the saturn do 3d but it wasn't very good at it,It was really hard for devs to make 3d games on it.

  • @risseer: Actually the Saturn had better 3D capabilities than the PS1. It was just too difficult for most developers to take advantage of the dual chip set. I remember Techmo saying that their Dead or Alive game wasn't portable to PS1 in it's original form. And that's why they had to remove the 3D backgrounds in the PS1 version.

  • @lookitskazzy: Yeah, the PS1 was shit for 2D games.

  • @darknight068: For the Saturn it was only a ram issue. For the PS1 it was ram and processing power. How about comparing every other 2D game that was ported to the system with out Saturn using the ram cart. I assure you that the Saturn will come on top ever time.

  • @Imadeyourun I can give two examples that weren't superior to their PS1 counterparts, SoTN and to a much lesser degree MMX4. X4 wasn't that big of a deal outside of a couple effects, but SoTN had horrific slowdown, and the lack of a 256 x 224 resolution mode meant it had to haphazardly upscale the graphics. Lack of gouraud shading meant every transparent effect either became solid or a dot mesh.

Aside from that though, yeah, if a game was completely sprite based the Saturn killed the PS1.

  • @darknight068: SOTN on PS1 was only superior to the Saturn version when it came to transparencies, as were most PS1 games. But when it came to the animation and the amounts of sound channels, the PS1 lost every time. And MMX4 was better on Saturn. You gave me two game on PS1 the you thought were better than the Saturn versions, let me give you more games on Saturn that were superior to the PS1 versions: All SF games, All SNK games MM8, MVC, X-men vs SF, Silhouette mirage, and the MK games.

  • @darknight068: By the way, I don't know which Saturn you played SOTN on, b/c mine never had any slowdown. And the only reason the PS1 even had a 256 x 224 mode is so you could toggle it on and off when things started to get too bad. The PS1 had slower processor than the Saturn. And if you didn't know that, you probably never owned a Saturn. I owned both and still do.

  • Great game!!!

  • Why is that song so familiar? Someone help me.. I wanna say Charlie's Alpha 2 stage theme, or maybe something from Megaman..?

  • The TOP 5 Teams are:

    5* Akuma - Wolverine

    4* Chun Li - Magneto

    3* Gambit - Wolverine

    2* Ryu - Ken

    1* Ryu - Cyclops

    Remember that. ;D

  • lol ryu akuma and lmfao there is no top teams you have to be pro

  • Ryo is #1 and i love him

  • ken is #1 love him

  • awesome finish at the end! xD

  • This version is WAYYYY better than the PS1 offering. I bought a Saturn and imported a Saturn converter plus the Japanese title from a dealer in the USA. Cost more than the Sony version, but it was worth EVERY penny invested! I actually paid more for a 3-in-1

converter that was also the 4MB ram upgrade AND Game Shark.

    All the best

  • @CapitalStrong Can you tell me how to play this game on a USA console?

  • Oh that Cumputer doing. And who do you play as?

  • Its look like this is someone First time Useing Charlie on this game. For Beginners.

  • Tell that to the CPU :P

  • I still ROCK MY SATURN AND DREAMCAST 2-D FIGHTERS EVERYNIGHT...JAP DREAMCAST AND JAP SATURN!! THE ONLY DOWNER WAS MARVEL SUPER HEROES WHAT GREAT GRAPHICS WHAT HORRIFIC SLOWDOWN..ALMOST UNPLAYABLE!

  • i loved my SATURN!!! fighter switching for the win!!! i pity u ps1 owners haha

  • i was very upset when i bought my copy of xvsf and i tried to change the characters,

but in this days i play it on mame 32 ;)

  • Capcom needs to make a compilation of these VS. games for the new systems! C'mon Capcom!!!

  • You're so right. and Please Capcom allow us to tag as oppose to the pSX version of this game which wouldn't allow tags.

  • They would have to regain the Marvel licenses rights first.

  • i spent $75.00 to play this game on my Saturn about 9 years ago, seems foolish now to buy a 4 meg cartridge and converter to play a 2-d game.

  • it does not seem foolish, it seems very fortunate and i bet you had some good times

  • I sure did, I had to have this when I saw it on the shelf at the Game Exchange.

  • why didnt u just buy the ps1 version? like 20$?

  • Because this version was vastly superior.

  • play it on mame 32, its free

  • Some people just don't like emulation at all.

  • @karadaniano Not to mention arcade perfect considering that it's THE original game.

  • Why?!???

Because unlike you, apparently,He loves his game as arcade perfect it can be.(Good Choice!)

The Saturn rev.of this gem and it's sequel(another beast of a classic...) kicked PS1 versions to the curb....without breaking a sweat!

  • Calm down. Jesus. Fanboy

  • Calm down yourself,dude!

No one attacked you.And if saying the truth is being a fanboy, then yes....A blind fanboy am I :D

    Anyways,I insulted you in any way,I'm sorry.But I'm such a fan.....
