TPTB left it up to each individual. There was lots of subtext and the love was always there. But if you really didn't want to see them as lesbians, you didn't have to. So, it's really up to you. Lucy has definitely said they were a true married couple (as in married to each other). And on some of the DVD commentaries Renee has subtlely agreed. I don't remember any show where Renee actually said, "Yep they were married to each other," but I know Lucy has.

In "Return of the Valkyrie" Xena Kissed 'Sleeping Beauty' Gab; in "The Quest" Xena kisses Gabrielle; in "A Friend In Need Part 2" Gab kisses Xena under the guise of dropping water in her mouth. Those clips aren't made up and Lucy has said at a late night talk show (non-gay show) that to her Xena and Gabrielle were definitely married to each other.

b) Xena has the black eye in episode "Who's Gurkhan"

c)If it's the ep where A sits between X & G at a campfire then that is "The Quill Is Mightier"

d)at 1:57 - 2:01 the ep is "The Lost Mariner"

e) 2:12 - 2:14 the ep is "Been There, Done That".
