As far as I know, the Kikou (or sort of) which means "energy practice/technique" is as real as the martial arts itself.. the problem is that the modern world has almost lost and forgoten the escense of the martial arts.. Hollywood only shows blood and violence, which is not the real purpose of M.As., being the real purpose learning how to use and control yourself and your body. Practising Martial Arts and Kikou is what most makes me happy, I feel happy and full by inside. Have a nice day! :)

It also was a great way of showing just how far Ryu had come when he pulled off a 1 second Hadouken against Bison.

It's not at the beginning of Street Fighter 2. They actually dated it to be before Street Fighter Alpha, which would actually make it Street Fighter. They just called is that so that they could easily make money off of it. Relating it to their most known version of their franchise. Sorry for being a SF geek.

And if you want to be technical, seeing as I own the series and the movies that follow it, it comes before Street Fighter Alpha just as the Alpha movie says on the back of the box. I knew what I was talking about when I said it, that's why I said it. Capcom changed the whole canon again anyway with Street Fighter 4, by bringing Gouken back to life, when they clearly stated he was dead and Gouki/Akuma killed him.

@XxBeautifulL1arxX Kamehameha basically invented the whole ki blast you can see thing. The basic idea MIGHT have appeared earlier elsewhere (IDK) but dbz definitely inspired the street fighter series on that end (as with almost every martial arts based anime/game since). IMO they're the same exact move only with a different name. keep in mind that the Kamehameha can be a ball or stream of energy.

The Hadouken is slightly different then the kamehameha, because the hadouken uss the energies from the things around you as where the kamehameha uses the life force energy inside of the body so the hadouken can only be so powerful as where the only reason the kamehameha is so powerful is because the dragonball universe has such ridiculously high energy levels that arent even capable of being reached

@gorvaxthebeast Not really both are ki attacks and in ancient chinese culture ki/chi comes from the inner core (abdomen) of the person. So the hadouken does use "inner power". Almost all martial arts based animes/games since Dragon ball have used ki based attacks in which you can see them visually. A lot of them actually talk about the fact that ki comes from within the lower abdomen.
