An idea conquers the hearts of people keen on sports, youthful and young of heart. Weihrauch air rifles offer a lot of pleasure in sports. The underlever air rifle HW 97 K especially developed for field-target and silhouette, well-balanced, easy and smooth cocking. .22 cal (5.5mm) is generally recommended for hunting over the .177 because it easier to hunt with the larger caliber. 60 yards for HW97 in .22 cal would be pushing it. If you are focused on the 60 yards distance then go with the heavy pellets in .177 but you will still be limited to the game size you can take.
I went back n forth for months between this and tx200.. finally went with TX in .177.. but the urge for this beautiful rifle is too strong..so getting both..97K in. 22 for sure..can't wait! !!!
V Mach do a resettable safety switch you can put on it as well as their tuning kit which really does transform the rifle into springer heaven. Pity it isn't tuned from the factory like the Air Arms TX200 considering the price they charge. Although it is still a fantastic air rifle.
manufacturers should make a rifle where u put that thing that u keep spining like the bike pedal just like crossbows ,only on realy strong airguns though because they are hard to cock
I really don't understand why those of you who would rather buy a Powder Burner doesn't just go and buy all you want and leave us to buy what we prefer.Every time there's a Video put up for us AG addicts, there always seems to be a bunch of people running down what we do and wasting thread space commenting on what we buy and enjoy for a sport! Go buy your .22 Rimfires and 30-06's as we all have them too.But just let us enjoy our favorite sport in peace.Who cares.
@rampagemcpherson Why not buy a .22 rimfire,is the same question a couple friends of mine asked as well.Until they spent a Saturday afternoon shooting my .25 Sumatra and Condor,(along with my 34P,XL1100 and 350 magnum). Now,,they have sold their extra PB's and have bought their own AG's and are now addicted like the rest of us.No one downs you for your likes or dislikes,,so why not leave those of us who Love our AG's alone, and go hang out with your PB friends?Pretty Simple I think. Thanks.
We all know you can buy Centerfire Rifles for the same money you would pay for a High powered airgun,,but it's a sport and a world wide sport at that.We all have Powder burners,,but Airguns, are way more fun and an addiction and something you don't understand unless you own them.Try a Big Bore 9mm,.45 or .50 cal Air gun and then take your first deer with it,Then see what you think of airguns.
Overpriced?Well, as they say, that's in the eye of the beholder.
Hey Paul try this one for a dillema - Ive got £350 GB for either a AA TX200 or a HW 97k - in .177 cal, ive saw your vids, shot both rifles personally and still cant decide , it'll come down to a toin coss as I just cant rate one over the other.
@ThePanzerfist44 , the tx200 is better out of the box, has synthetic bearings and tophat, spring is finished at ends, the wierauch 97k, 77k for the uk market, the end looks like it was lopped off with bolt cutters and left unflattened and unfinished, has no synthetic bearings of tophat, you will have to spend £70 - £100 for a v-mach or get it tuned.
Of course you can, it's very true. You can't probably shoot those air rifles in your basement. Effective distance for the firearms is also MUCH longer than for the airguns.
@rjgreat06 well honestly you could probably get a half way decent air rifle for 250 dollars or even less, and have it tune for a few more bucks and have rifle as nice as this one
@rjgreat06 you're forgetting that scales of economy play a role in pricing. Each year in the US ~ 4.5 million firearms are sold but the number of airguns sold is a fraction of that.
@rjgreat06 I hear this a lot from friends. Fact is, it will cost about the same to produce a quality rifle regardless of what type of projectile it shoots, or what caliber it is built in. Some .22's cost more than some .30-30's. Do you consider that wrong? Some 28 gauge shotguns cost more than some 12 gauge guns. Is this wrong too? Some BMW's cost more than some Ford pickups, even though the damn BMW can't haul a ton of gravel. Is that wrong? Quality costs what it takes to produce it.
Well, for 75 bucks you get roughly 100 .30-30 cartridges when I look at the prices. For 75 bucks you get at least 5000 pellets of high quality air rifle ammo.
You will safe a lot money over time and you can have fun while you are shooting with inexpensive pellets.
Btw, I've paid only 299 Euros for new my Weihrauch HW97. Prices also depends where you live. Because of the weak dollar importing products from countries with a stronger currency will always increase the prices.
a "pretty decent group?" LOL. nice, man. that is some awesome shooting. and quite an awesome rifle to be shooting. I just wish there was a lefty version.
so are the Hawke scopes better than Leapers, even for the price? or are they about the same? i do notice that they are a bit more expensive but they look a step above most Leapers scopes. are they?
Just a question... I have a German springer (Diana 54 Airking) I plan to buy a better scope. Is it really bad if the scope reaches over the loading port ???
will a ( Hawke Eclipse fastmount 3-9X50 AO IR )be fine on this rifle ? will it withstand the recoil ?
I would be absolutely extremely thankful if you could help me on this.
hi i own a .22 webley falcon and a .177 asi rapid fire paratrooper and i heard they are rare guns and was wondering if anyone can tell me more about them
@d0dge25 a fellow 77 owner - Ive got a HW77 in .22 cal , its an amazing gun , super accurate .
Ive also got a 95K break barrel - I was leaning towards an AA pro sport but the more reviews of the 97k I see online and read in the mags the more I am lookingh at switching to the 97k - for the cost of an AA pro sport I can get a 97k with thumbhole stock or a standard 97k with a decent scope
Thank you for your suggestion. We will put it on our list. The current queue though is pretty long, and the review you are looking for may not be available for 3-6 months...
Try Crosman 2300S or 2300T. From all the CO2 pistols we carry they would be most accurate for 10-meter competitions. There are other CO2 pistols suited for competitions but they are much more expensive.

loved the review on the hw97k - first thing.. as you noticed the gun is short... well the K in HW97K stands for "kurz" what means short.
When you come up with testing the noise level you did not notice that this gun has the built in silencer...

yes those prices are rediculous. i could buy a m&p 22 lr with that money so why would i buy a pellet gun
rampagemcpherson 1 year ago
@rampagemcpherson
Because you might want a gun that is not a firearm per definition.
Because you might live in a country where you have to jump a 100 hoops to get a firearm license.
Because you might want to do some pest control on your property without spending lots of cash for ammo.
Because you might want to exercise your aiming skills in the backyard without the neighbors thinking it's Red Dawn already ;)

Thank you very much for reviewing this Weihrauch series ( finally :D ).
The HW 97 of course comes as a long rifle version as well ( "k" is for "kurz" = "short").
As a proud owner of the "little" brother, HW 77 (comes with open sights), I have to
agree on the automatic safety issue. But that's pretty much the _only_ thing the Weihrauch rifles need to improve on.
Perhaps this form of automatic safety was chosen because acc. to german gunlaws you cannot use airguns as a hunting rifle - sports only.
