  • Beautiful! Moved me to tears and now I'm thinking fondly of all the dogs that I was lucky enough to have had in my life.

  • so beautiful!

  • I am 18 years old and have been a massive dog lover for as long as I have lived, but due to many circumstances, I haven't been able to own one yet. I am just waiting until the moment when I can start looking for my perfect puppy. Sometimes it gets really hard, waiting all these years to start searching for my best friend. It's been 18 years of painful waiting, and I know I have at least a few more ahead of me before the time comes. This video has made me patient. Thank you so much.

  • @KelseyTVS your dog will come into your life when you need him most. I too have loved dogs all of my life, I started to volunteer so I could be around dogs as a teenager. My parents didn't want me to have a dog until I graduated from university so I was 23 before I ever owned my first dog and now I can't imagine ever having it any other way

  • I have to watch this video every couple of months to remind myself of what is really important in life as well as what I should take away from the dogs I interact with. It helps keep me grounded, focused, and humble. Thank you so much for making this. I know I really truely appreciate it.

  • Love this message. I am training my koolie in agility and he almost ready for competing, I however am not! Have a massive fear of failing. Thankfully when I turn into a bundle of nerves my dog just comes and comforts me! This video really says something about the relationship with your dog. It's not about getting it perfect but continually learning and growing! Love it.

  • Thanks for the reminder of WHY we journey.

Look for the lesson within your journey. Inspire, love and share.

  • Loved the video. Really made me think.

  • hi!but where can I find the book?

  • I saw this video a hundred times. I cry EVERY time.

  • Great video. Also love the song <3 The Feather Theme from Forrest Gump

  • Wow, thanks alot for this - really inspiring! <3

  • Who was the black and white dog? I thought you only had red Border Collies.

  • @SzmJSF The Black and White Border Collie was "Stoni" my first BC. She was an amazing, amazing girl. The most human like dog anyone has ever met. Although I do love my red dogs, I have no problem owning a B&W again one day!

  • i love .. everything about this video!!! man's best friend indeed.. used to own 13 cats.. and they get along well with our 3 dogs...

  • I bawled my eyes out, and the dogs were staring at me wondering why mommy was making such strange noises.

  • whats the name of this songgggggg?

  • can't wait for the remix.......top tune.

  • :')

  • I love that I occasionally happen upon this video and watch it again as I did that first time. It never fails to make me appreciate just why we play these games with our dogs. Thank you for reminding me.

  • This video is so inspriational, considering I just had my first trial. No ribbons, just 2 eliminations, but it isn't about the ribbons, just about the fun and time spent with your dog on The Journey.

Also, I love your 2x2 weave method, I trained both of my ACD mixes that way! Thanks!

  • Oh this bought me to complete tears. How very true and perfect.....

  • Thank you for this wonderful video....as I wipe away my tears : )

  • Beautiful video! LOVE!

  • You got me to cry! I LOVE this video wow....bravo..

  • Beautiful! I thought about my four doggies throughout the video. <3

  • Every time I watch this video, it makes me cry. I love it.

  • tears, but oh so beautiful! Thank you for helping me be a better best friend to my beloved BC's.

  • I thought about each and every one of my 3 dogs during this beautiful tribute. Thank you so much for this video.

  • The slide 'we may regret that we didn't learn our lessons earlier so that we might have enjoyed our journey together more fully' is exactly how I feel about my Poggy dog who died early this year. I've learned so much from my new pup, Noodle. We've never had a pup before so I swatted up before we got him and I realised how much more we could have done with Poggy to make her life more fulfilling. Now Noodle will benefit from the lessons I've learned.

  • Great video! I co-authored a book along similar lines, "Be the Lead Dog, 7-Life Changing Lessons Taught by Sled Dogs". BeTheLeadDogBook . com

I'll have to check out your book!

  • I'm so in this space right now...thank yo for this. I was looking up agility performences to help get my training right with my dog...and it was so much more immportant that i found this! Can't see through my (good) tears right now. I'm on 'The Journey'....

  • That brought tears to my eyes. I think you summed it up perfectly :)

  • How right you are. Vela is exactly the right dog for me at this moment. And I'm sure trying to be the right one for her too. Thank you for such a wonderful video!

  • This is such a beautiful video and made me literally burst into tears! I could watch it over and over again, although I may be crying a river but it's just so wonderful. Your dogs are gorgeous and hope to get my BC soon! :-) xx

  • I have watched this video before - for the first time in '08. Today something led me back to it. It seems to be just what I needed to see and hear . I have been working with my fem. BC pup since she was 8 wks old - she is now 10 mths. She has challenged every step of the way - I love her very much, but she is tiring at times. I just had a frustrating session with her and then sat down to the cmptr. For whatev reason went to your site to find what I needed Found it with this post again Thank you

  • Great video with nice messages and beautiful dogs.

  • BEAUTIFUL VIDEO! Thank you

  • Wow, the video says it all...

Thank you for sharing this wonderful tribute.

  • I am in the process of launching a new website to educate puppy people & dog owners who have just obtained the dx of either congenital or idiopathic megaesophagus for their beloved companion. I would like to add this URL front and center, where it can do the most good for their immediate needs and concerns. Such a beautiful message. Thank you for putting it together so beautifully.

Mom to "E", who was to be my agility star

(megae, diaphragmatic & hiatal herniations, etc.)

  • I have to say that I LOVE this video so much. I have a challenging little red/white border collie that has taught her so much and has me on a little journey of our own, and I can not tell you how much your book Shaping Success helped us as she was a puppy, and while we are still on our journey, I watch this video all the time when I am a little frustrated or confused and it always reminds me of what is really important, and I can not thank you enough for that!

  • Great video and message. A terrific reminder

its not about the ribbons and titles but the time we spend with our 4 legged family members. So don't get caught up in all the 'Q'ing pressure at your club. Have fun and enjoy the short time we have with them.

  • How true...thank you !!

  • very nice video thank you

  • nice pictures, beautifull!

  • its so amazing, beautiful pictures of beautiful dogs, I agree that the dogs teach us so many things.. I'm gonna hug my dogs noe and tell them that i love them !:)

  • Lovely video! Thanks for sharing

  • Susan, what can I say, thank you for reminding me that I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

    Cheers,

    Pat

  • Very moving video. It brought tears to my eyes. So beautiful. Thanks Susan.

  • O O O Are you the owner of Buzz???!

  • Yes, I am very proud to say I am.

  • I love your book "SHAPING SUCCESS" Hit helped me relies that I wasn't the only one with a wild border collie and that he didn't have to be.

    Thanks

  • Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it!

  • That made me get emotional.. Dogs are in our lives for different reasons and it's always important to keep in check as to the real reason behind the journey we're taking together! They heal, they love, they humour us and so much more. Such a great video. I'm going to share this with friends and family. :)

  • Beautiful!! This video makes me think of such a wonderful sport, in a whole new way, it brings tears to my eyes every time I watch this...

  • This all is so true, it isn't about how many Qs, titles and ribbons you have, but the joy you share with your dog, because they aren't running for ribbons or Qs, but they are running because they love you so much. That as a fact has taught me so much. I want to do well in agility, but that isn't possible without the complete love and devotion between you and your partner, your dog. Never take any moment for granted. ♥♥♥ Mariah

  • thanks, Susan, for this wonderful tribute to our 4-legged partners, for putting into perspective what it's all about, remembering to cherish our relationship above all!!

  • Susan...what a beautiful masterpiece you have created. I lost my border collie tj 1.5 years ago and he was just shy of his 18th birthday. I got him as a pup at 9 weeks old. I watch this now andd everytime i watch it i think of how i was blessed to have had such an incredible relationship with him. i am now blessed with 3 more border collies i rescued and they teach me the greatest lessons in life...and i continue mt journey with them everyday...thank you 4 your love of dogs.

  • it is from the movie Forest Gump. I think it is "i'm Forest...Forest Gump"

  • This was just absolutely beautiful and so perfect. I hope you don't mind that I sent it to my friends to see!

  • No I don't mind at all. My wish would be for everyone that owns a dog to see this video. It can only make the dog's life better. And you can grow this idea. For many of us our dogs are the vessels that bring us these lessons for others it may be cats or some other living creature.

  • As an owner of 2 dogs plus 1 that has passed on. I have to say that this is great. I loved it.

  • That is so sweet

  • Thank you, Susan. The teacher in you shines in this lovely piece. Thank you for sharing.

  • Thank you very much for posting this wonderful video. I cried from start to end. One year ago today my best friend was stolen from me. He changed my life the moment he stepped paw into it and I will never forget the lessons I learned with him and because of him.

  • This is beautiful and very true as well. Thank you

  • That was incredible! Great job.

  • Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful. Thank you.

  • As I sit here just returning from a conformation show with a dog I thought I wasn't ready for. I'm a blubbbering idiot and he a new Canadian Champion!!!! A beutifull video Susan. And Oh so true!!!!! Thank-you!!!!!

  • Susan, you've nailed it completely... Yours was the first training seminar that I ever went to (back in 1996? at Diane Tosh's house in FL!) and you have impacted the life I have had and continue to have with my own dogs. Your words have stayed with me in the 12 years I've been teaching using OC/clicker training. You have impacted many more people and dogs than I think you even know... Thank you for all that you do.

  • Thank you .... For posting this video - and sharing your thoughts on our relationships with our 4Legged friends - It brought a smile to my day!

  • I was just sent a link to view this video....I am so sad....where did it go? I read some of the comments, and now I am so very curious as to what it was all about. Will this video be reposted for viewing? PLEASE?

  • I went through "Clickerdog" videos instead of my Email link...all ok. Thank you for posting this video. Thought provoking and nicely done. I am going to give my fuzzy kids extra love today!

  • That's beautiful and inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

  • Sniffle, sniffle, wipe--you put into words all the lessons and love we've given and received from our best friends.

  • If only others would "get it" !

Thank you for this wonderful a 3 hanky video!

  • Susan,

Thanks for sharing, you were able to put into words what I have been feeling.

This is the first time I have cried since I had to part with my Chase five months ago. He taught me plenty but I still had so much more to learn. I miss him so much.

I am still tying to recover from dealing with his illness and loss. The rest of my gang has been trying their best to push me back on my feet completly.

  • As many Obedience Floridians will meet at the annual DOCOF (Dog Obedience Clubs of Florida) event tomorrow, this couldnt have come to me at a better time. As I strive for my own personal goals with my Toy Fox Terrier, this video gave me a new prospective. Those recent NQ in Utility B really don't matter. My lesson being taught must be patience. I am going to embrace the thought of the lesson and enjoy my Utility run tomorrow with my dog.

She is a very important part of my life.

  • This is so beautiful and so thought provoking.

I sure wish I had learned a few of Shebang's lessons earlier, while I still had her in my life. But I will forever thank her for what she did teach me, and for the new person she has made me.

  • Beautiful vid, brought tears to my eyes. Really wonderful...!

  • Susan, I happened upon this beautiful video through a mutual friend... As I wipe away my tears I want to thank you, it came at a perfect time in my life.

  • Wow...someone just fwd this to me...I found out this week that my 20 mos old Aussie girl Rip,(agility, frisbee and herding protege), had the nerves to her back end and hamstrings severed when she had her tail docked at 2 days old. She has been a standout in training, but then some weird movement deviations started to show up!! Awesome video...awesome timing!! Thanks for sharing it...

    Congrats from Gabi (Brazil)

  • Thank you for this. We recently lost one of ours and seeing this helps in ways most people would never understand.

While Dexter wasn't any good at agility, he made up for it in many other ways.

    It truly is a journey.

  • that is truly wonderful!

  • Thank you for the great reminder...it is about the journey! Good luck to all as you play the game. And hug the puppies!

  • Beautifully done.

  • Susan, that is such an awesome video! Wish we could have watched it 14 years ago!

    Barb, Russ and Blaze Scott

  • Wonderful message and I loved the whole story..

  • Oh, Susan... what a beautiful reminder of what these precious kids really bring to our lives. It really isn't about the ribbons or the MACH bars or any of that. It's about the shared love and the lessons. Thank you.

I have also gained so much knowledge by doing agility with them that I cannot imagine life without it. Thanks so much for sharing the video and God Bless all of the special pups who bring so much joy to our lives.

  • Great video. Its all very true.

  • Beautiful-well done! Got me all choked up for sure!
