Do you remember when Reagan said "The homeless are homeless 'cause they want to be homeless? I do. If we substitute the word houseless for homeless, it is easy to see just how ruthless they really are.
The houseless are houseless 'cause they wanna be houseless. I'm sure the Reaganomics people truly believe that. That "trickle down Reaganomics" is actually piss from the higher ups pissing all over the people. I could go on. But you've nailed it. You should win the WNYC prize.
I live in Jacksonville Fl one of the nations foreclosure capitals. They are still down here building new condos all over town as we speak. Every 3rd house on my street is for sale. It like that all over town. I guess the city is more worried about fancy highrises than it is their citizens. I also wanted to say at Wamu wear I work. I have received many hardship lts from elderly people around the world. I have rcvd a lot wear their is a mention of suicidal thoughts. Think about that for a minute.
I work for WAMU/Chase dealing with all the people applying for loan modification. They are all trying to save their houses from going into foreclosure. I have to read these letter all day everyday about people getting ripped off by these lenders. There are so many lawsuits going on right now over the lenders infalting people incomes so that they would qualify for these subprime balloon loans. They are knowingly sabatoging people that are trying to live their dream.
I think people need to wise up, Never, Ever sign important papers without a Lawyer or Knowing what your getting into. All the info was in the paperwork, No on held a gun to their heads to sign before they had a chance to understans things. I am about sick of all these bailouts to anyone and everyone who makes bad choices, from Wall Street to Main Street. Its time for accountablility and responsiblity in this country from the government, Corporate America and Citizens.
Geez, in my neighborhood, impeccably dressed young men and women knocked on the doors of big brownstone houses. When they found an elderly owners, they offered them cash loans against the worth of their homes.
I don't have to tell you what came next, because these charming and friendly young people were predatory lenders representing big banks.
Yes, the seniors should not have signed up for bad loans. But also, the banks shouldn't swindled people. Yes? xo QJ
yeah you are crazy .. you ru around and act like you made brooklyn ... and that building ... again you fail to understand the need for people to LIVE WITHIN THEIR MEANS... and if they've screwd there credit because the ROBBED A CREDITOR and now have to get a ARMS loan .. they should live within there means!!
No you're not crazy. You just have to realize that this was a calculated collapse of society. They want people homeless, jobless, and hungry so that it is easier to "escort" us to FEMA death camps under the guise of "We want to help you in this time of need." HA! All of the homeless people should sleep in front of their congress persons houses. Some of them still care...
Point made. Actually, the homeless could be welcomed into the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th houses of congress persons. Also, I read about a sheriff in the midwest who is refusing to evict people from foreclosed houses. Now you're talkin'. xo QJ
I've been homeless before(so the homeless definitely have a place in my heart.)
Great vid.Oddly enough I've read,in Newsweek I believe, that periods of high foreclosure rates are actually good for homelessness, because non-profit organizations are able to purchase many of these homes and convert them into shelters at mortgage rates dramatically lower than normal(and 'they' said that irony was dead.)lol
Truth is,most of us never even cared about the homeless until we started losing homes.
Excellent point. More power to the organizations that can make it happen. BTW, I heard about a congresswoman and sheriff who are in cahoots out west. Seems the sheriff is refusing to evict people from their foreclosed properties. And the congresswoman is recommending free legal aid to the same folks. How about that?
