There is a difference between Melodic Death and Melo-Death. If your a rookie I'll fill you in. If you use MDM and Melo-Death interchangeably you are in fact a rookie lol. Melo isn't short for Melodic. Melo means the band has both singing and screaming, but isn't Metalcore either. Melo is more mellow than DEATH is how it came about. These guys AREN'T MDM they are Melo-Death. Bands like Soilwork and Mercenary also fit into this category. (12+ yrs listening to MDM and other subgenres)

Melodeath, MDM, and Melodic death metal are all the exact same thing. "MDM" is usually used as a typed abbreviation, whereas "meloeath" is usually used as a spoken alternative, because (in both cases) "Melodic death metal" is pretty unwieldy, and if you see "Em Dee Em" in your life then you look like a tool.

They all mean the same thing.
