Dubai was nothing but a real estate debt financed bubble economy on an artificial oasis in the midst of a desert. visited Dubai with my friend who is a local Emirate back in 2006..we drove around Marina and Medina I saw all these huge buildings and constructions..I asked him I've never seen huge scale projects, whose going to occupy all these properties?..He answered thousands of expats and foreigners are flocking to Dubai and therefore properties are in demand...

The truth to the matter is, most of the Local Emaratis, in the work force are less productive and yet they are getting high pay. Where as most Asians, are highly skilled though they are facing a lot of exploitations and descriminations. They are the true life blood of Dubai's Economy.

Dubai was nothing but a real estate debt financed bubble economy on an artificial oasis in the midst of a desert. There was no real fundamental reason to justify the extravagant and rapid growth of that region of the world in the last two decades. Such growth was just unsustainable and when you compare the growth of that market in relation to the social and cultural evolution, you get a huge disparity that doesn't relate to a realistically developing society! visited Dubai with my friend who is a local Emirate back in 2006..we drove around Marina and Medina I saw all these huge buildings and constructions..I asked him I've never seen huge scale projects, whose going to occupy all these properties?..He answered thousands of expats and foreigners are flocking to Dubai and therefore properties are in demand...
And now this!..I hope the economy recovers again..I've always wanted to live and work there but I have to halt it now...

The truth to the matter is, most of the Local Emaratis, in the work force are less productive and yet they are getting high pay. Where as most Asians, are highly skilled though they are facing a lot of exploitations and descriminations. They are the true life blood of Dubai's Economy.
My biggest observation when I was in Dubai. Most companies hired imcompetent white people with a very good package that is bloating the HR budget.
There's a lot of racism and politicking going on in Dubai.

Don't get me wrong. I had a great time in Dubai, and I am very thankful for that. The Local Emaratis are pretty much nicer than other arabs for sure.
I was just commenting on the News posted here in Youtube. I felt sad also for what have had happened. Got so many friends affected with this crisis. But that's the reality we have to face. There's no point to cover-up. That was the job of the media.

The situation today is pretty much different from it was, as you've said. This is a global economic crisis that severely hit Dubai's economy. Why? Because Dubai, lavishly spent on failed mega projects, it's either unfinished or no buyer at all. And those billions of dollars spent were coming from foreign loans and and from Abu Dhabi, that they have to pay. The DIFC also failed, tourist arrival dropped by 60% which is themain source of their revenue. It's so sad but that's the reality.

We welcome the idea of nationals coming forward educated and willing to work. But that situation in reality is far far away. we need expats cause our #'s are small and we cant fulfil our plans with just us. for example not many local are engineers so you get the expat. all i am saying is locals and expects should be given equal credit on dubai. also there are many UAE businessmen who work their ass of to build dubai. i can name a few if you want. over here people say locals do nothing and this is 100% false. police is 100% local force they dont deserve credit? airport workers? etc.

I remember during my 2 years of stay in Dubai. It seems that everyday was a big event. Their agressiveness to develop an artificial economic success, now put Dubai into a brink of economic collapse.
Airport, malls and hotels are half empty and yet the gov't is still in the state denial.

Avantime, Many people are doing that already. Abu Dhabi is so rich they just bailed out Dubai, so there's a better chance finding jobs there. I personally like AbuDhabi more than Dubai, the roads are very organized and it's a lot less crowded.
