  • Ive been looking for a custom Dreamcast Case like that for 3 years..that was the last time i saw them on ebay. If you have any leads and more of them please contact me bro, it would really help me out. thanx!!!

  • omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my dream-cast was £0.99 + £3.99 P&P!

  • Damn I would pay you money to mod my DREAMCAST like your DREAMCAST, it would be so cool to show it to my friends, the reason I ask is because the case part is easy, it's the led lights that are tricky and I would like someone with experience to do it for me

  • Hey there. Do you just do consoles or could you also do desktop pc's. I would really like neon lights that look great in the dark, also clear case and lcd screen. Just curious.

  • This video is so cool, ive seen it like 20 times lol

  • i was jus thinkin martin, shouldn't u have used yellow LED's as opposed to normal (clear) LED's to have a more yellow effect?

  • @chaos3two I actually used blue LEDs in this project. I did buy yellow LEDs but they looked very orange compared to the replacement shell and were a lot dimmer than what I wanted. The light from the blue LEDs also kinda reacts with the yellow shell to give a really nice neon type effect.

There's a link to my tumblr account on my channel where you can see a photo of the DC lit up. It shows how the console looks in real life a bit better compared to the vid.

  • @RetroGameTech yeah i can see what you mean now =]

  • It is abit funny that your ice cube tray is yellow like the replacement shell .

  • Awsome video man, sorry if this has been asked thousand times only just come across your videos, is it as simple as just taking all parts out of machine an replacing? if i didn't want any fancy lights etc? might get a grubby dreamcast off ebay an attempt this :D! have two already but both have suffered lasor lense failure :(.

  • ITS JESUS

  • How did u connect the leds to the power supply w/o burning out the lights? Also did u glue the wires or the bulbs. Thanx. Best mod ever!

  • I thinked the result wouldn't be more aweome.

    then, a rez original copy.

  • This is fucking genius. Totally gave me an idea to mod mine out. Thanks! :)

  • MAKE PLAYABLE ON MOBILE!!

  • give me that !!!

  • ps I meant are all screws inside the dreamcast the same size and type? Thanks.

  • I need to get a new screwdriver to take apart my dreamcast. Do you know the exact screwdriver size head i would need? and are all screws the same? Thanks man.

  • I'm having to catch up on all your videos, cause I've been a bit busy recently, looks lik you have too! That was fantastic, Don't think I could ever confidentally do that to a console, I've always been one to break one open every now and again, but anything but mild fiddling is scary!

Awesome Dreamcast you have there now. Shame to do it justice you always have to play it in the dark :P

  • @Cptalbertweskerful Haha, well I wish I could say I was busy doing cool stuff like going to the US for E3 :P . Very jealous!

It's not too difficult to do these type of mods. And older consoles are generally easier to work with because they're simpler and have a lot of free space inside to stick LEDs and components :)

  • thats eoic

  • what did you search on ebay to find the shell? I can't find anything

  • your brill m8

  • i love your use of an icecube tray lol

  • Why cant you have done a tut for taking apart and putting back together along with the tut for the lights instead of speeding it up?! I would love to get a good tut on those!

  • @xTHExSTIGx told you I was gonna pack that thing full of LEDs, lol. It seemed like the right thing to do. The scary thing is it's way brighter in real life! Thanks for watching :)

  • This makes other Deamcasts sad:)

  • @fortifythamind you havent seen mine yet lol calm down :)

  • ITS ALIVE ITS ALIVE THE DREAMCAST WILL LIVE ON

  • Awesome video

  • Okay overkill with the LED's that case is now awesome and great video, also never thought of using a ice cube tray for small screws hate when i lose them while modding

  • Can i just ask if you have a link for the led's you used to replace the power switch?

  • @froggydarren I got mine from ebay. Just search for 5mm LED and whatever colour you're after.

  • @RetroGameTech cool check my vid of my blue dreamcast :) im also about to pick up a black version and wouldnt mind doing somthing to it like this lol....

  • That was the best vid I've seen, ever! Well done man, that's exactly why I subscribed. Pure awesome. Thank you!

  • @RetrogamerTim Thank you! I've been trying to focus on doing more hardware mods lately. Thanks for commenting :)

  • gr8 videos

  • Fantastic stuff ! Always entertaining. I passed over the Dreamcast on release but recently picked up a copy of Metropolis street racer and Aerowings for a quid each at a charity shop. This Vid has convinced me to get one!! Cheers ; )

  • @anydaynow11 MSR was one of the first games I got for the system. I spent countless hours playing it. Great game! I didn't get a Dreamcast until long after SEGA had pulled the plug. Kinda wish I had one when they first came out. They were crazy expensive though!

  • clic... ALELUIA, ALElUIA

  • That is awesome! I need one

  • £7.50 inc postage, that's amazing. Dreamcast is such an under-rated system, some of my all time favourite games are for it. The Shenmue games for example.

  • @DaveSimonH The prices have been rising quite a bit recently! I was lucky to get one that cheap. The same seems to have happened with the Saturn.

I'd say about 50% of my favourite games are on the Dreamcast. It doesn't seem to age like other consoles. Most of the games are just as fresh today as they were on release.

  • That Is Sweet!

  • heavy idea using an ice cube tray to sort screws when disassembling something!

  • That was brilliant! Great stuff. Really well done.

  • @P5ychoFox Thank you!

  • is that an ngage cover under the glue gun? :P

  • @cyb3rphr33k Yes it is :) It was from a busted up 3rd party cover I got years ago. Makes a perfect excess glue tray.

  • I got a dreamcast, controller and a sealed game disc from the dump. no av wire tho. I tried to solder wires to the pcb pins of the av connector. to wire in 3 phono sockets for composite video and sound. could I get anything co actually solder. could it be my silverline iron? what iron do you use?

  • that's a fucking belter of a modified dreamcast big man

  • @KieranD212 I'm glad you approve :)

  • @RetroGameTech yeah i quite like it, my original dreamcast is yellow but only from oxidisation lol, fortunately i use a replacement as that ones broken

  • Using an old ngage case for your hot glue gun lol

  • @crouts0 Yep, that's just how I roll :P

  • Most epic vid ever

  • That's awesome, I'm thinking about doing the same to my crystal xbox or the clear GBA.

  • @vestibual I have a crystal Xbox with a similar mod and it looks awesome. You should definitely do it! :)

  • when you powered the fuckin thing on i lost it i couldnt stop laughing.

  • that is awesome dude! excellent work m8 wish i had your skills with modding stuff !! :-)

  • @robster604 Thanks dude. It's really pretty easy. Nothing too complicated involved here. Just wiring up a few LEDs. You should give it a go!

  • LOl nice job man looks great :)

  • @YLJesus Thanks!

  • Anyone else go 'fucking hell' when you turned it on and the soundtrack kicked in haha abit to meny leds for me but beets having a lamp in your front room :)

  • @froggydarren Lol, I don't usually like too many LEDs in my mods either but I made the exception for the Dreamcast XD

  • Yet another awesome mod, keep this shit up. :)

  • it looks sweet, great editing job too.

  • @GreenJanuary Thanks. I think my editing could have been a little tighter in places but overall I'm happy with how it turned out. I use Windows Movie Maker which is really basic but gets the job done (most of the time :P).

  • Nice idea with the Ice Cube Tray :o

  • @shurwam nice spot! I was going to mention it in the vid as a tip but didn't think anyone would be too interested.

  • Haha, I can't believe I felt bad for you for a moment there, I thought you had a power surge and toasted the system. But once the lights in my brain turned on, I was left simply feeling like a chump.. Good Job!

P.S. You considering a mame case/cabinet at some point?

  • @MoonSpotRoXX Hahaha, thanks!. It's seems my work here is done :P

I'd love to make a cab at some point. It's definitely something I'll be doing in the future. I already have some ideas kicking around in my head. But right now I sadly don't have the money or space to do something like that.

  • haha i was not expecting that lol nice mod

  • dude that mod was sweet

  • Oh and it's Humming The Baseline Remix- Hideki Naganuma lol i just check on yt for it

  • Jet set Radio music is awesome with this. Yeah that was not boring at all and i enjoyed watching you work. Are you going to make a yellow dreamcast controller too? And I don't know i kept picturing you dancing to that song.

  • @shadowtsunami Thanks! I don't know if they ever made official yellow controllers. If they did that would be pretty cool though. I have a spare clear purple 3rd party controller I got really cheap the other day. I might stick some LEDs in that to go with the console :)

  • @RetroGameTech Purple and Yellow Watch a Lakers fan buy it =)

  • that isn't a dreamcast anymore its a damn lamp lol

  • Merry Fucking Christmas !!!

  • Jet Set Radio!!!!!!!!!

  • That was perfict timing when you opened up the disk drive I really liked how it opened to the song

  • hahaha, love your sense of humor. And no other game could be more apropriated than Rez ! :) Great mod.

  • @Padoca85 Thanks! And yeah Rez seemed like the perfect choice for this vid :P

  • Lol that hallelughia (didnt spell that right)

  • Nicely done!

  • Awesome!!!

  • Does anyone make cases for Super Nintendos? I would love to do this to a SNES. :D

  • honestly, I think it was the LEDs that made this mod so awesome, it looks amazing.

  • that looks the business!!

  • hey by any chance are you going to paint the modem, faceplate or buttons, i think the front plate in chrome black, white or even yellow would look great and the modem just try to match the same yellowish color and the for the buttons maybe black or just keep em grey

  • @Sillyzombie666 I've got an experiment I want to try out with the modem to make it yellow. The other parts I'm just going to keep as they are though.

  • DUDE THE MUSIC AT THE END MADE ME LAUGH SO FUCKING HARD THANK YOU

  • hey i never got a reply for the nintendo club points

  • @Sillyzombie666 Hey, I posted a note in the description and added an annotation at the start of that vid to say they had all been claimed. I got loads of PMs within the first five min of me posting. It was first come first serve, sorry.

  • @RetroGameTech no problem for some reason i expected a note saying they where all gone that and i didn't know if i missed the message since im right now re doing my laptop regetting used to a pc and inbetween phones so many places i check my email have been wiped lol.

  • Ive said many times but ill say it one more time that yellow dreamcast is freckin sweet mate.

  • @SpinTheDemon Haha, I wasn't sure about it at first. But the LEDs have swung it for me :)

  • Kewl video i remember when i put my old Dreamcast into a new shell. It wasn't a different color except that it lacked the red dye that got spilled on it. Didn't change the led but it was scary for me because i don't trust myself. Lol.

  • the music made this epic -er

  • this mod was fucking awesome!! Favorited!

  • @VideoGameCathedral Hahaha, thanks dude!

  • Pretty awesome

  • I'd like to see what you could do with a dreamcast controller.

  • @JohnDaGamer64 il answer that lol, not alot unfortunately as adding leds to controllers usually blows the resistor on the controller daughterboard

  • @demonicfox666 I see. Well, thanks for replying.

  • @JohnDaGamer64 no problem i learnt by personal experience myself, ended up having to buy a faulty dreamcast just to replace the controller board as the resistor on it are no longer made :( ,its unfortunate i know but there are still many things he could do, VGA ouput perhaps

  • That is sweet!

It's awesome how bright it goes once you turn it on.

  • that is beast!

  • That is freakin' awesome!! Dreamcast forever!!!

  • The Dreamcast Rocks mate!!!!
