@Xivek there WERE no substyles back then, this is and was called drum and bass now and back then. Because that was the era nearly EVERY drum and bass producer made GOOD music, now you have too many shit producers and wankers labeling music but they have no clue...
@JBSessionss true there may not have 'substyles' per se, but every label still pushed a different 'sound.' For example good looking records pushed a jazzy, as it has become to be known now, liquid funk style. Compared to say, renegade hardware, which pushed a techier/future beats sound, which became known as techstep etc etc.
