I've got a hole in one from 60 yards probably about 20+ times over the years. In fact in one game I holed back to back chips from about that distance. Never got a hole in one on a full sized par 3. Been close many times and had some par 4 Eagles :)

You are accounting for 1) Wind 2)Good swing 3) Right club 4) Right spin on the ball when it hits the green 5) The ball breaks perfectly to the hole 6) The ball doesn't go too fast and just bounce straight back off the pin.. Never had a hole in one in 15 years of playing, but had about a dozen Par 4 Eagles and an Albatross on a 540 yard Par 5, 2nd shot 230 yard 2 iron :)

My son also plays in USKids golf events like the World Championship. We had adults at our local country club get upset because there was an 8 year old teeing up in the middle of the fairway. USKids does a great job of marking holes for kids ages. My son made his hole-in-one down in the Port St. Lucie event and I have yet to get my first one :)

There is a tee marker in the middle of the fairway. This is because the tournaments are held on regular courses and U.S. Kids Golf cuts the yardage down per age group. Just thing of it as a scaled down course for a scaled down golfer. Some courses are now taking U.S. Kids Golf recomendations and placing a marker in the fairway so the kids know where to tee during regular play.
