  • i've been told they can break easily when trying to replace them which can be very costly:-/

  • ok i have 2 questions i have a 5 speed manuel ford f350 7.3L international diesel engine where will my glow plugs be? And when i start the truck for the first time in the morning or like 5 hours after it had run last i have to use starting fluid or there is no possible way to start it why is that? thank you.

  • What year is your F350?

  • @canobd2 its a 1992

  • Check for a bad glow plug relay, note: the light and the relay are 2 separate circuits and if the light is working it does not necessarily mean that the relay is working. Make sure you look at the leads on the relay, If they look black or corroded, the contacts are probably bad. Good Luck!!

  • @a1a2italy Your glow plugs should be right by your injectors/fuel lines, be very careful if your taking them out. there should be a slip that goes over it and if you dont pull it off smoothly then u can bust it and then you will have to replace the wiring as well as the glow plus.

  • @a1a2italy I would check your glow plug relay first. Usually the glow plugs do not go bad. They are basically a resistor like your typical oven has. It just heats upt when power is put to them. The problem is usually the glow plug relay or the plug in connection point between the UVCH (under valve cover harness) and the main harness that comes from the relay. The UVCH connection point sometimes gets really hot and melts causing failure.

  • @a1a2italy If its a powerstroke there under the valve cover

  • Two common problems with your 6.5L are Pump Mounted Driver (PDM) and the Optical Sensor located in the pump itself. Good luck!!

  • thanks for lesson

  • he has got to be the most patient auto tech ive ever seen.

  • I'm confused, in another video I watched the glow plugs were on top of the engine where spark plugs would usually be and not behind the tire ( it was a video of a guy with an bright orange shit) are differences between the cars? Sorry my bad English

  • I'm not sure what other video you watched, but depending on the engine the glow plugs are in different places.

  • @canobd2 Oh just like spark plugs?

  • The purpose of the glow plugs is to heat up the cylinders in diesel engines during cold starts and or cold weather.

  • many thanks, i will go ahead a change mine now. cheers

  • Thanks so much man for this vid!!

  • This makes want to scream. My 99 is 100% more of a pain in the arse to do. How often does the TIP break off when you remove them????

  • Nice video! Thank you =) I'm probably buying a 1985 Nissan Laurel 2.8L Diesel and it needs a glow plug change. they are very accessible though, on top almost, not like in this video, so I suspect no problems after looking at this :)

  • Grrr.. That looks so much easier than doing the glowplugs on my 99 F350...

  • GREAT VIDEO THANKS.

  • I love these videos. As a do it yourself guy and an ex technician it's great to see a full, all the way through, video from the R&I of necessary covers to the starting of bolts/plugs with your fingers, etc. Great video.

  • I've been paying BIG bucks to have this done. No More!!

  • @task4us1 how much did this job cost you? i need my ford powerstroke plugs done and am afraid to ask.

  • will this work on a 2006 vw golf tdi??

  • Yes, it's the same basic procedure.

  • what is that ?

  • This is a video on how to replace glow plugs on a 2006 GMC 6.6L diesel truck.
