yooo im friends with Keith. i think u know him hes from trenton and moved down to south jerz in blackwood, i work with him. he told me to check u out. shits hot!
@SWITCHSTRUMENTALS I do often use the sliders to pitch bend bass and then tweak the pitch bend values in step edit. However, in this particular beat I didn't use any bass bends at all. Just play the notes on the pads and fine tuned in step edit! Thanks!
yo man can u get an acapella version of ugk murder & sample it to a beat. look 4 lil wayne 's "No other" from dedication 2 , i just need a remake of the beginning . thanks if u do !
@kult12@kult12 Oh! Yeah, that's just the click. I set that too 1/8 note. I like it better than the 1/4 note. You can change it by going into the click menu from the home screen. On the 2000, I think when you press open window on the tempo field, you can change it from there. Thanks bro!
@graymancharge Yeah, I use multi velocity hats on some beats, just not all. Depends on the sound I'm going for. If I'm going for more of a "live drum" sound or crazy swing, I'll do it. But for just regular boom bap shit, one setting is what I usually stick to. It's all a mood thing. I hardly think velocity hats make or break a 'groove' though!
I don't get why peeps are using mpcs for making synth basics why wouldn't you use a MIDI?... That just seems so hard, complicated, and too controlling...idk.
@NosoCOMINSOON Well, this beat has no synths in it. It's pretty obvious that all the sounds are sampled. As far as using an mpc with a synth, it's as simple as pluggin in a midi cable, selecting a midi track and channel in the mpc, and playing your pads or keyboard. Just a simple as plugging in a USB cab and using a midi controller. The only real difference is using the MPC's sequencer vs using the daw sequencer. And that just comes down to preference.
hmmmm...do i get a 2500 or a BEAT THANG? perhaps both..the 2500 to make beats on and the beat thang to be a nightlight when i shut everything else down so that i dont stub my toe on my way to bed when I'm done...that's the ticket!!! win-win!!!
@Sikoh6 Uh, I wouldnt do that if I was you (i have the 2000XL) Its going to take you about 3-4 months to wrap your head around the MPC concept of recording and sequencing...What I did was read the manual from cover to cover about 6 or 7 times, making notes to myself on the border of the pages, then going back to the MPC and trying out that technique>>>timestreching, reversing, chopping the sample into 16 parts, etc, etc...Learn one machine and learn it better than anybody else...
@BeatKangz Nah, bro I know what I'm missing. I've checked it out, but it's not for me! I personally don't think the pad layout is fit for a drum machine, at least not for the way I use them. The way you guys designed them looks like it would be hard to remember where sounds are and what pad plays what note. All the lights are cool though! Good luck with it homie!
@redickalous Thanks fam! I use bends on the bass a lot actually. You can do it right in the MPC with the Q-Link sliders. If you go to my website, the player at the bottom has a beat called "End Of My Rope" and another called "Unspeakable Things". Both beats have bass bends that I programmed from the Q-Link! A keyboard pitch bend wheel is a lot easier though. Lol! Peace!
thats heat!!! And how did you gig your name on the mpc on the lcd sceen

sweeeeet, dude... you're 15 years behind dj shadow, but he was at least 10 yers ahead of the herd anyway!......
and the guy who said that about the velocity on the hi-hts, was right... they need a bit of shuffle,or variation in the attack...
that said, it sounds sweet.
great job, Sir.
peace.
