water polo players have a perfect mix of endurance, power, strength and VO2 max. If you train to be an all rounded athelete, you would at a certain point try out water polo and find out how much you suck!
wait someone help me here. im kinda new to this, and my teem has me as hole so im terrified. After the sprints, if my teem got the ball, what happens? we sprint to the direction we were sprinting towards and we set up?

@MRrHalk To be fair this video doesn't do this sport justice at all. Water polo is very physically tough sport, watch any videos of what is happening under water, that is where the real action is. I play and everyday i come home with bruises and scratches, it is tough, but i love it. The back and forth really is the easiest part because you aren't full on wrestling with the guy your guarding. Unless you understand the sport, it looks boring, but that is essentially what most sports are like.

Dude, I'm a mix between offense and defense (2m usually) and I made Olympic Development Program and Colorado Springs. I have DEVOTED myself to this sport, and I enjoy my choice.
I remember freshman year, we had a brand new high school, our pool just opened in time for polo season. because we only had frosh and soph classes that year, we only recruited 8 players. Our best player and only one with water polo experience got injured for the season. Even though it was JV, it was tough learning the sport througout the year. Water Polo is an extremely tough sport, especially with 7 healthy guys, no subs, playing every minute of every game!

Reminds me of Blitzball from Final Fantasy. I've tried playing this before and even though it was fun I just can't handle how tiring it can be. You're constantly fighting against sinking and some people underestimate how tough it is to move through the water, there's a natural resistance from the water that makes simple motions feel like you have weights strapped to your limbs.

Im a swimmer and have started playing waterpolo about 7 months ago, i think swimming is harder than waterpolo tho. Although it might just be because my swimming is at a much higher level than my waterpolo

i play in canada for an 18 and under city team and i've played some teams from the states and honestly i was dissappionted by how little you can do, my team got kick outs for like putting our hands on the ball carrier shoulder it's a lot less violent
@leisksean Yeah, people do that because of their weak legs, you gotta muscle into them, there are plenty of ways to really apply the pressure on a ball carrier. And 90% of the action happens away from the ball between players fighting it out for position. Trust I play at pretty high levels in SoCal and the higher you get the rougher it gets. Refs get lenient, and then its just a battle, the ref doesnt care if someones drowning you, you gotta overpower or spin that guy

Water polo is more challenging, but I find football + lacrosse more fun. Maybe it's because water polo isn't very popular in the east.

Reminds me of Blitzball from Final Fantasy. I've tried playing this before and even though it was fun I just can't handle how tiring it can be. You're constantly fighting against sinking and some people underestimate how tough it is to move through the water, there's a natural resistance from the water that makes simple motions feel like you have weights strapped to your limbs.

Im a swimmer, however i joined water polo about two years ago and its way more demanding playing a quarter of polo than a swimming race. Btw just so its not biased, i do both at national level.

@quinnbeeloved It's not just fighting. your goal is to get the ball through the net on the other side. some people use a more sadistic approach to achieve this goal by barrelling through and 'fighting' but there are also maneuvers where you can avoid much of this battle. simply by using the opposing players hips to spin around them is an example that is efficient and harmless. as long as you are taught how, there are many ways to not fight.

Im a swimmer and have started playing waterpolo about 7 months ago, i think swimming is harder than waterpolo tho. Although it might just be because my swimming is at a much higher level than my waterpolo

For all you socalled "athletes". We dont move in a straight line, we dont run into each other then take a break, we dont wear pads, and we never stop going. We dont have one simple job per player. We are offense, defense, driver, blocker, and striker. We make our own choices on the fly, in the heat of battle, We dont get little breathers in between action to have one guy tell us what to do. We play a REAL sport.

If it captures the attention of the most elite force on the planet that Im sure you could not make it in, then it must have something there.

i play in canada for an 18 and under city team and i've played some teams from the states and honestly i was dissappionted by how little you can do, my team got kick outs for like putting our hands on the ball carrier shoulder it's a lot less violent

@leisksean Yeah, people do that because of their weak legs, you gotta muscle into them, there are plenty of ways to really apply the pressure on a ball carrier. And 90% of the action happens away from the ball between players fighting it out for position. Trust I play at pretty high levels in SoCal and the higher you get the rougher it gets. Refs get lenient, and then its just a battle, the ref doesnt care if someones drowning you, you gotta overpower or spin that guy
