Then why did those two people sit through more than six parts of the film? It's not like they would have lost the price of admission.

I first saw this film while working at a flying service in WA State. Howard Hawks caught a lot of the tensions beautifully, and the cast is first-rate. (The mood around fatal accidents is fairly accurate---fatalism will only insulate you for so long when the victims are your friends.)

Wow...powerful scene when he has to ground Kid. Very understated, brilliant acting by both men. Great touch when Grant kicks the chair. It's the only time he shows forceful emotion in the whole scene - the only time he loses control. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing this film.
