  • John Mayer covering one my favorite songs of all time!! Wonderful to know that there's still relevant artists out there with real inspiration. ALL HAIL STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN BABY!!! I'm gonna be 18 soon and here's to hoping more music like this comes around to my generation.

  • GOOOO STEVIE!! UH... I MEAN, JOHN.

  • he is on top of the world during this song!!! i would be too.

  • whats cowbell? im from germany, can someone explain?

  • more cowbell is a skit from Saturday Night Live US tv. (search it here on Youtube)

  • @pumukellll

dat is een koebel vrij vertaald, werd vroeger wel gebruikt in de bergen en in oa amerika voor koeien die voorop liepen.

  • Hahahahaha! Wonderful cover! (: Great facial expressions! ;)

  • Sure, he still makes those stupid faces when he plays and sings. But at least they aren't as ridiculous as these.

  • It is of my personal opinion that more overdrive is needed.

  • @SuperRockgod666 Nah!... just More Cowbell !!

  • @1i1feat Silly people, that doesn't count. Life itself simply needs more cowbell.

  • @1i1feat please i just got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell! xD

  • a shame...

  • Mayer does a fine job but he needs some flamboyant threads and a pimp hat with some feathers.

  • Awesome to see him paying tribute to the master. And he is playing an srv strat !

  • wheres the power that stevie had? it sounds like hes playing through a 5 watt marshall compared to stevie.

  • @sakowihe75 /watch?v=lczCozoVIz0 you have to admit that he has the blues. he is not a copy... long live SRV, Mayer, and all the good bluesmen!!!

  • @NickBluesRock i aint saying he isnt a good player because he is. hes a hell of a player. but to me, it seems he's lacking that certain something that all the greats had

  • boy is it good to see double trouble...rip stevie

  • pause at 3:44

  • the only john mayer songs i dont really like are his originals haha

  • Double Trouble almost seems amazed by Mayers low volume.. Stevie used to blow up anybody's ears, probably including Shannon n' Laytons.. The volume also makes mayer sound a lot more mellow in my opinion.. But as bjhMus1C said.. He's a lot jazzier than Stevie.. although I miss some touch.. Great player and inspiration to me anyway! And btw.. I do like long comments, now and then.

  • he's so fricking stupid at the guitar! its awesome!!!!

  • where is this is this the location of the dvd of srv in texas?! look just like it.

mayer it's a lucky bastard he rocks!!!!!!! i love him .

  • @dnnysrock Yes it is, Austin City Limits

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Tommy Shannon and Harrison Ford are the same person?

  • @fipesc lol, I'm afraid so!!

  • Am I the only one that thinks that Tommy Shannon and Harrison Ford are the same person?

  • why have only 8 thousand people seen this??

  • I don't get why anyone would complain about this guy..look at him playing that guitar solo. His funk face tells us a story man..

  • Mayer got game.

  • Tommy Shannon looks like he's having a good time watching John shred at 1:58

  • I don't think he's that good at covering SRV. There are plenty other blues players who would be able to wipe the floor with him. But.....John Mayer started off in the pop scene so he can easily grab fame from doing decent SRV covers while the underground blues players who aren't famous will never be known. The good looks don't help either. Just sayin'

  • @goochiekoo86 Have you ever even seen John live? He's incredible. Clapton doesn't call him "Slowhand Junior" for nothing. And he's not "just" a good lookin' pop artist who can play the blues. He can and does do just about any kind of musical style out there. He experiments a lot. Before you go dissing one of the most talented musicians out there, you should know what you're talking about cuz you make yourself sound ignorant to John's millions of fans.

  • Rocking bassman !!

  • hmm he plays it pretty well, but with no feeling. that's what I don't like about john mayer. srry guys!

  • @Stick2208 No feeling? hmmm..

  • @Stick2208 How can you tell if he plays it with feeling or not?

    Only he can.

  • @Emil019b i bet if he played it in his bedroom, it wouldn't sounds this forced. im just trying to say that sometimes he's a messy player, imo.

  • Jesus. Fucking. Christ. If anyone is gonna pay respect to SRV I will always want it to be John Mayer

  • Also, 2:28.... God that is easy on the ears

  • mayer does a better job covering stevie than anyone I know of. i'm not a big fan of mayer's voice when he's doing his own stuff, but I think it works well with stevie's material. and the guitar playing is pretty damn nice. he doesn't quite have stevie's raw power, but it's spot on otherwise.

  • @petec9686 they're totally different musicians. mayer is a lot more jazzy than stevie.. he kinda jazzed out this song and it worked out in his favor.

  • you can bitch about the guys we don't have or you can enjoy the guys we do have, your choice

  • @whatsthebigfndeal Right On!!

  • It's really good.. I mean it's a nice try.... but no. It's just wrong to see JM perform Stevie's song to me..

  • @Camandaz how is it "wrong" SRV is one of JM's idols and he was paying tribute to him. How is that "wrong"

  • @Camandaz Stop being such a pikey

  • @Camandaz Its wrong because you have this concept of SRV as aguitar hero or god of soem sort. Hes just a guy that was really talented with an instrument. He wasnt a greatsong writer, and he didnt really do anything groundbreaking. He just had taht SOUNNNND..... and guess what... So does John.

  • do you have any more of this video?

  • @xTHExWASPx yep! i'll try and get the rest posted. see the buddy guy vid from this acl show on my channel. thanks.

  • close your eyes at 0:41 and you may as well be listening to stevie!

  • Merci pour cette très bonne vidéo!

  • @lilrolter Merci!!

  • Thanks !!

  • Awesome shuffling from the master craftsman Mr Layton. Good video thanx.
