He wrote some rather advanced (for the time) flute solo and other pieces too.

Roussel's gearing of chords is strikingly innovative. Some of the coloring in the woodwinds is quite memorable. If you can contribute the First Symphony which I seldom hear, that would be great.

Not at all: it is the beginning of the first movement of the Third symphony, as correctly mentioned in the video.

One of my favourite French composers.....As you have noticed, his music is full of gleaming energy. I like his third symphony but his masterpiece remains "Bacchus et Ariane", in particular the second suite. I hope you will offer that work to our Youtube Friends later......

Roussel 's work definitely worths of more publicity. A great mind of his era. Some of his melodies are really unique

Great there is a nice richness in his music.

I have started doing this also, but at the moment Im concentrating on 'not well known' Russian Composers. im glad that people investigate these lost treasures.
