  • I've heard this 30 years ago and now again. I'm ever more impressed, special by this performance.

  • Nice . . . but, still a little too "modern" for my tastes.

  • My formative music

  • Roussel n'a composé que 4 symphonies "numérotées".

  • excellent

  • Yes, Roussel is rather unknown and I can't understand WHY...

  • has anyone a recording of "fanfare pour un sacre paien"? i'd like to play it at a concert with friends but i need to know what it sounds like...

  • He wrote some rather advanced (for the time) flute solo and other pieces too.

  • Roussel's gearing of chords is strikingly innovative. Some of the coloring in the woodwinds is quite memorable. If you can contribute the First Symphony which I seldom hear, that would be great.

  • Wow the music is amazing such energy and climax! I haven't even heard any of this music before but I have heard of Roussel, I really look forward when you upload some of his pieces in full:)

  • Thank you for Uploading ! Auch modernere Klassik gefällt mir sehr gut !

  • Please tell me what is the title of this nice orchestral music? lovely and fresh original

  • The video starts with the incipit from Bacchus et Ariane, op.43 suite n.1

  • Not at all: it is the beginning of the first movement of the Third symphony, as correctly mentioned in the video.

  • I subscribed all comments ....

And I would love it to subscribe the information you added here, Daniel.

    Especially the last sentence:

"His first love was the sea. He was an orphan, a sailor, husband, ambulance driver, professor, composer and one of that rare breed, a really nice guy! He is buried near his country house at Varengeville. His grave rightly overlooks the sea....."

  • One of my favourite French composers.....As you have noticed, his music is full of gleaming energy. I like his third symphony but his masterpiece remains "Bacchus et Ariane", in particular the second suite. I hope you will offer that work to our Youtube Friends later......

  • Roussel 's work definitely worths of more publicity. A great mind of his era. Some of his melodies are really unique

  • Great there is a nice richness in his music.

I have started doing this also, but at the moment Im concentrating on 'not well known' Russian Composers. im glad that people investigate these lost treasures.

I thankyou for posting this video, I always listening to new music!

  • this composer sounds great. that excerpt from the suite in f sure does have a catchy tune! very interesting video infomation. thank you for introducing me to Roussel earthatic!

  • Nice music. I'd like to hear some entire pieces by this composer.

  • I will be upload some of his pieces in full, including the third symphony and the Suite in F.
