Shoot, that's a load of crap! Any of my horses would be turned into dog-food in no time flat if I tried letting them go barefoot! It might work for about an hour, but after that, they would be toast. (Rock slides of more than 40 feet tear the shit out of a hoof!!!)

Most farriers today know MORE than vets do about proper trimming, balancing, anatomy and physiology!!! Check out Doug Butler's books, mentioned in this video, as they are used at many farrier training schools.

No, I'm talking about SLIDING a horse down a rock wall. Hoof, fetlock, and hock in one line. Serious shit that NO barefoot horse could take.

Dissing one of the fewer than 200 farriers to have made it to the class of "Fellow" with the Worshipful Company of Farriers simply shows your sour grapes and jealousy towards him.

A barefoot horse is for the slaughter yard, and those that make them go barefoot might as well be the one slicing their throats.

  • @Pro3110 A shoe won't help with that! Neither will your incorrect trim.

  • @Pro3110 And that certainly won't wear too much hoof.

  • @Pro3110 A barefoot horse you trim can't do much.

  • @Pro3110 Plus, a shoe would make you slide faster and uncontrollably.

  • @hoofrise Not with toe and heel cogs in them!!!

    My horses need cleats!

  • @Pro3110 I own and have read all of Doug's books, by the way. I keep them around as a horrible warning. The books offer no real explanation of hoof functionality and most definitely do not teach a successful barefoot trim.
