I know this may say stupid, but sometimes I fool myself into thinking this. The choir, I know typically the do latin or other native languages, but in some songs do they just make make screams with no meaning at all? I guess what I'm saying is that do they always have ACTUAL lyrics when their singing or not.

The vocables, or the lyric-less vocalizations, are meant for melodic contribution. It's as if the human voice is another musical instrument. It doesn't really have to be embedded with meaning in order to sound awesome. Heard Requiem for a Dream? During the buildup the choir releases long, continuous notes that sound simply like "aaa". Epic song.
