ahhh the old wax paper trick nice.

knew there was something i was doing wrong

  • I get the impression that this woman would kick your ass if you got on the wrong side of her.

  • Why do Americans refuse to pronounce the "i" in pierogi, they always say perogi.

  • @blahk04 masz racie. winny jestem.

  • 2:20 in the hall is the spirit?:D

  • You should use white cheese! They are not polish pierogi....

  • Where does she go? Does she have a bladder problem? The noise/music is very distracting

  • @johnmichaelpix LOL! The TV kept getting louder and louder.. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed. Plus the dog getting excited.. LOL.. I don't care, I love this woman and I love pierogie. Great job.

  • ..the most important : remeber everyone :D...red skined potatoes.... YES !!....;(....good luck.

  • I'm gonna try to make a gluten free version and one with goat cheese

  • My sister and I want to make this together in memory of our Grandparents who were Polish. They made good pierogie. Thank you for good demo

  • I am 100% Polish and have been making pierogies for years. I'm a 55 year old wife, mother and "Grammy," I was just browsing through YouTube to see other people's recipies, and you by far have the best recipe and method! I never thought of using the potatoe water in dough, but I will without a doubt use it next time I make them. Take care and blessings to you and your loved ones.....

  • ten wynalazek nawet nie stal kolo prawdziwych pierogow, jeszcze tylko to keczupem zalej.

  • ten wynalazek nawet nie stal kolo prawdziwych pierogow

  • Why don;t you people ever cook a whole turkey with some nice carrots, parsnips, sage and onion stuffing, brussell sprouts, bread sauce and cranberry sauce, followed by a nice Christmas plum pudding with brandy butter? Wouldn't that be a lot simpler?

  • @Feisty1967 that is a more traditional english recipie, this is Polish. It all depends on your taste, I dont mind making the pierogies, and eating them isnt bad either.

  • How many pierogies you get from your recipe? Also, can I keep cooked/boiled pierogies in the fridge for more than 24 hrs? Or it is best to not boiled them if serving for dinner the following day?

    Thanks

  • amazing video!

  • oh, they look soo good served with onions, kielbasi and green beans. this is how we're going to do it. your videos are the best. thank you!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  • I thought You did a great job! Authentic, genuine, who’s to say this recipe is not a real Polish recipe, there are hundreds a ways to make pierogies, many generations of families had their own special way of making them, that’s what makes this Authentic. I also loved the Authentic background affects. God bless you. Remember, Jesus saves!

  • thank you for making this video but the TV noise is really disturbing...

  • You might want to take a look at the Polish pronunciation videos on You Tube before making a twat of yourself.

  • Sounds like a lived in house, with a crowd like that the food better be good . I grew up on polish food and that’s the way we ate it was I was a kid good job

  • this lady can't even properly pronounce her Polish words, so how can I follow her recipe! It Kielbasa not kielbasy etc.

  • FYI kielbasa is a singular, so kielbasy is the correct form for the plural as there as more of them...on the other hand pierogies is a little too much, because pierogi is already plural: so it should be pierogi or pierogs - but ho cares the recipe is very authentic and great - varies from house to house in Poland, so you should definitely try it first - when you like it, then its a good one!!

  • Thank You!

    Very Informative, good easy recipe.

  • Too much background noise going on and dog barking, spoilt my concentration.

  • Nice Recipe! My Babci never used Butter or Sour Cream in the dough with the hand written recipe we had from her, so I am going to try yours. Do you think maybe that is what makes the dough softer and easier to work with? Because with her dough I always felt it was very tough and we constantly had to roll it out and flip it and roll it again until it was to the desired length. I also like that you used Colby Cheese and Sour cream in the filling. We used Cottage cheese and green onions.

  • Saying "pierogies" is like saying "mices"... Lol.

  • @esotericenigma mmmmm ruskie pierogi

  • What a great video and you made it look so easy! Thank you i am going to try to make some for my family this christmas!

  • Polish pierogi are not filled with potatos and cheddar cheese! We just use curdled cheese / cottage cheese and mix with potatos, but not cheddar, leerdamer, edam or anything like that.

  • It looks delicious thanks for posting this!

  • How to make Bigos

  • 10 of u dont like pierogi fine more for me

  • I tried this recipe, it was Great!!! I can't wait to make them again. They were alot of work but worth every minute. I froze the extra, if you are going to freeze them just boil them don't fry too. Freeze on a cookie sheet- when frozen put in freezer bags- when you want them fry in butter frozen. Great for quick meal.

Thanks for the recipe, it's a keeper!

  • These look awesome..! Thanks!!

  • I love the recipe and the kids and dog in the background sounds like my house

  • ale plaskate te pierogi!!! A co to bylo to zółte starkowane?? Prawdziwe polskie ruskie pierogi to twarog najlepszy swojski i ziemniaki z przysmazona na rumiano cebulka sol i pieprz. To nie sa pierogi to jakas podroba!!

  • yumyumyumyumYUM!

  • I always wondering why cheese in usa is so yellow, almost orange ;D i saw this "type" of cheese only in usa ;D

  • Comment removed

  • @raccoonX26 We have all kinds of cheese here in the USA. The one you saw in the video is cheddar. It's quite good. I hope you get to try it.

  • your pronaunciation is wrong for pierogi you mek it sound like they are buugers or something just sound out the letters and roll your tongue PYE-RO-GI JUST SOUND OUT THE LETTERS OK

  • lol the way she pronounced these names was totally wrong lol except Zygmunt

  • Ok, but it's not a christmas dish... besides ruskie pierogi shouldnt be eaten with kiełbasa.

    It's mixed up:(

  • @papist77 it's ok people can eat what they want however they like it. who cares if it isn't authentic, or she didn't pronounce it right. it's just food. whatever tastes good to you works.

  • ilovetocookalot - How many pieorgies does this recipe make? I'd love to make these! You make it look easier than I'm sure it is, but I'm sure it's worth it. ARE they better than frozen ones you buy at the store???? Be honest! ;) ;) ;)

  • what a hell is that - my babcia said that pierogi is not dumplings - is more like raviolli . not filled with pots but cotage cheese mixed with pots.

  • Pierogi are dumplings, your grandma is mad. There are as many variations of filling as there are Polish cooks. Be nice.

  • Steveinflorida, they are more like ravioli. Have you had dumplings before? No I didnt think so you yank retard!! Dumplings are made from suet and are more like your yank biscuits. Pierogi are very similar to ravioli or cappeletti and are boiled in salty water, just like pasta!! You retarded fucking yanks are so stupid!! You can not even pronounce pierogi!! yanks will say " Per- oh-gee" its properly pronounced " Pierre- oghi" Sorry to any French men!

  • @coltsuperocean10 Wow. How rude.

  • I made these today. The dough was very easy to make and work with. The filling was great. Although I added two heads of roasted garlic YUM!!!! I will be making them again next weekend for my friends. Lets see if they liked them as much as my wife and I did.

  • Interesting video and looks about right as to the recipe. However, and this is a biggie, pierogi would not be served with KIELBASA for a traditional Christmas Eve dinner. It is ALWAYS MEATLESS.

  • @jun713 -- Agreed, we always celebrate Wigilia on Dec 24th. Still might try that recipe though. It does look about right, but the size is too small ;)

  • mhm!

  • Its not too orthodox way pf making pierogi, yet still interesting.

  • Thanks for your. We made pierogi tonight at my house. (yours came out better). Its a joy to make pierogi as a group. But you di good alone.

  • I have got to try this.. I cook for a living for a crew of 9 LARGE men.. How many does this make, enough to feed 9 large giants?

  • my father is polish and always made a lot of them. its so delicious :)

  • All I have to say is that I really enjoyed this recipe, it was my first time making pierogie. My Babcia would be proud!

  • Aw your polish too! My Babcia died last year so my ciocia made them this year.

  • Comment removed

  • Stop whining about the pronunciation or spelling of it, nobody cares.

    Otherwise, looks delicious! :)

  • I make perogies like my mom and baba did. And they are wonderful.

And who cares about the spelling or how you pronounce it,,,its all good. Heres lookin at all you perogy pinchers :)

    Cheers

  • Everyone! There is no such thing as "PIEROGIES." The word "Pierogi" is PLURAL. One Pierog, two pierogi. Also- Kielbasa is pronounced KYEWBASA.

  • BOllocks- one pierozek is singular. Besides its cute to see english grammar applied on polish.

  • this is not real polish recipe! its americanised!

  • it is in deed!

  • @hussarus you're a UK-ized or Irish-ized Pole. So who cares.

  • @hussarus What is not real about it?

  • @hussarus

Lol Pierogi are not Polish and they are not American HAHAH

The man who developed Pierogi was a Italian and he made different ones he used a Sauerkraut , Mushroms and meat. Thats the Italian recipe!

The Polish one is white cheese(cottage cheese) and patatoes :)

They are not american for 100% procent :P don't make a hope man

  • @matuszplll I dont actually get what you are trying to say mate. What im saying is, the way the pierogi are made on this vid is not a proper "polish" way of preparing them. We never use a cheddar cheese, only white cottage cheese "twarog". So the recipe which is on this vid is americanised...thanks

  • @hussarus

Im just saying Pierogi are not from America

Pierogi with white cheese are 100% from Polish recipe

Maybe you are right now they are americanised because i never seen some 1 add normal Yellow cheese in side :)

  • @hussarus - Yes, I agree with you.

  • Sorry Maria, but this profanation of traditional Polish pierogi. Your version is similar to Russians pierogi (often made in Poland), but without the carrot. Russians pierogi filling is a white cottage cheese, onion (fried) and boiled potatoes & salt, pepper.

  • its not pierogies, its pierogi, it is already plural

  • You don't know how hungry you just made me. I have never made them before. I might just try it out on my family . Thank you very much.

  • YUM!! That looks awesome!! We make ours with dried cottage cheese. They are so good too!!

  • This is great, Thank you

  • i hope i have a wife like u soon

  • i came for the pierogi, but i come back to stare at your boobs.

  • delicious!!!!!!!!!!!! thx

  • these lookgreat!

  • wygląda dobrze! Czy mogę przyjść? :D

  • Great video. Please disregard the authenticity police, how rude! Anyhow, your dough is exactly the way I do mine.. It is a deliciously soft, tender dough, not tough like those that do not call for sour cream. I also think you're really hot for your age.

  • Authentic Polish perogi uses white cheese, mushroom, or saurkraut. This woman does not pronouce it correctly either. There is no need for organic ingredients.

  • pourogeese =D

  • Lol.

  • you are nasty and rude.

  • Love the recipe. But why does everyone buy into organic/farm raised/free range and stuff. There is NO logic behinds these statements proven by the FDA. And they have proven all the energy and materials and advertisement put into organic makes it worse for the enviornment.

  • Looks yummy. And unlike Bilgerburg below, I loved hearing your "doorbell". Sounded like a bloodhound? Basset hound?

  • the presentation was/is good. however, all the background noise was extremely annoying. really took away from an otherwise good presentation.

  • niw umi

  • It is not quite Polish pierogi. We are using white cheese (biały ser) to make pierogi. Pierogi rządzą światem!

  • Nice Job!

I'm always using store bought but it's time to give homemade a try. What's a good way to freeze extras?

Polish, Hungarian, Russian? This is the food of Europe! They all had a hand in it! lol Hand in it? They were all sneaking one from the bowl!

PS A remote for your camera is what someone should get you for Christmas! lol

  • To freeze extras, after boiling place pierogis on a wax paper lined baking tray careful not to let them touch and freeze until solid, peel over paper and store in a freezer bag for up to 6 months. To cook, thaw slightly and pan fry in butter with onions

  • hehehe... I don't know that polish pierogi are famous... xD lol

  • Very nice :P although if you want to make original polish pierogi ruskie (the ones with potatoes and cheese) you have to use white cheese (something like cottage cheese) instead

  • my mom always buys store bought pierogies, i like the one with cabbage filling.

i would love to try to make it myself! :D

  • I just made these today with my 10 year old daughter and son who is 5. They turned out so goood!! I love the dough and how easy it was to work with. Thank you so much!

  • whats the brand of refrigerated pierogies u can buy at the supermarket, they came in a clear bag? not Mrs T's

  • I love your great presentation on a plate at the end of the videos...thanks

  • isnt pereigi from russia??

  • Thats a big no.. Pierogi are 100% POLISH!

  • Nope, its 100% Polish..

  • The origins of pierogi are difficult to trace. The specific name pierogi, shows the dish's common Slavic origins, predating the modern nation states and their standardized languages. Belarusians, Russians and Ukranians, Poles,Slovaks, Latvians and Lithuanians all consume this dish, although sometimes under a different name.

  • Latvians and Lithuanians are not Slavic nations. traditional Polish pierogi are made from cabbage, forest mushrooms and meat. in the east of Poland you can find families who cook pierogi from cheese and potatoes - these are originally from Ukraine and they called them "pirnieje" or sth.

  • IM Ukrainian...and we use Cheddar Cheese!...still looks yummy though!

  • Maria! My boyfriend and I discovered your videos this evening, and we love you!! It's great watching videos of real cooks, not the plastic "perfect" ones you see on TV. We think your humor is great ! YOU ROCK!! Keep it up!

  • Outstanding recipe. We use to get these once a year in Chicago when the Polish women would make them in huge batches. Never found a recipe (especially the dough) that was as spot on as this one...thanks!

  • I love perogies, im actually Polish which rocks!!. There called Pedahe in Poland (peh-da-he)

  • Please use the correct pronunciation! I have never heard of "purr-oh-ghee" before. Also, using the English plural of 's on the end of a Polish word is very amusing.

  • Colby CHEESE?!? NOOOOOOO!!!! This is NOT a Polish recipe!

  • this recipe iz crap... should be no yellow cheese in it. i wonder what type of pierogies she did....

  • Sounds excellent, thanks for the tips.

  • People if you don't have anything nice to say- shut it. Despite noise, this is still one of the best pierogi recipes on youtube! Thanks for taking the time to make the video!

  • You did awesome. My preference for the cheese is any kind of cheese I have on hand. I also sometimes add spinach, or chopped bell pepper to my potato and cheese filling. I have even used jalepeno pepper too. When I use the jalepeno, I will deep fry the pierogi, dopple them with sour cream, and spoon picante sauce over them. I also have used wonton skins when I'm in a pinch. That works fine but not as good. I eat pierogi all yr. round. Your kids,TV and dog are fine too. Now that's authentic.

  • one more time - it is not the authentic recipe. There is nothing yellow in the filling!!!!!! Pleaseeee ;/

  • The background noise is too much for this video...too bad, I was going to try and follow the recipe.:-(

  • I love all your videos. Is there a way for you to video the cooking process in the pans to show what different foods should be doing in the pot?

  • so you use red potatoes? i use russet potatoes. is there really a difference?

  • In poland, we use a special kind of white cheese (twarog) not the yellow one....

  • Also, the REAL cheese to use is Polish farmer's cheese (we call it TWAROG); with it you will make the best potato/cheese pierogi.

  • Hey, thanks for the recipe, but just as an FYI: the actual name of the dish is not "pierogies," but "pierogi." "Pierog" is the singular form, and "pierogi" is plural.

  • i love pierogi :-)

In Poland we use Quark cheese, it's white and more acidy.

also in my family there is a variation to the original recipe which includes dried mint instead of onion.

  • just 1 thing i like to add i dont know if you have children but try not to have somthing like the tv or whatever the loud noises were when you were making the dough, it over powers your voice and its distracting still like your vids

  • very nice =]

  • Do you salt the water and how much water do you add and if you do use salt, how much?

  • i use a 7 qt stock pot, and fill it 3/4 full with water and yes, i salt it - 1 tsp of salt

    to the pot
