To those who are confused,this a time travel story.The future Autobots & Decepticons traveled back in time cuz this crystal fell on the hands of Shockwave who went mad & went on a murdering rampage destroyin almost all Autobots & Decepticons alike in the future.In this past the Autobots saw a strange UFO that landed on this planet where the crystal originates.Rodimus & his troops came back to prevent it's discovery & Galvatron followed him with his troops.So now u can piece it all together.

Always remember this, dude: The Japanese make the best Licensed videogames, while NON-ASIAN developers and publishers like Atari and Activision do not do well with licensed games. They only do it for the money, while the Japanese do it for the fans!

Go read the old Marvel G1 comics, Galvatron has travelled back in time to when Megatron lead the Decepticons more than once, heck he even tried to kill Megatron once until he came to his senses and realised he'd be killing himself.
