  • well i also have an hp Pavilion Dv6 but no doubt Macbook still has Quality, better touchpad, and no lagy O.S ,so when price's are compared between Macbook pro and envy i think Macbook is better but envy is better for entertainment like beats audio and hp mediasmart

  • @crossmediatube agreed i owned only hp dv laptops till 18 months ago when i got my 1st macbook pro and the difference in build quality and os are immense, i haven't had one single program crash in the 18 months i've had the mac and it still looks new, no marks or wear on it what so ever (all the hp dv laptops i had the trackpad always started to wear). But these envy laptops look great dont think i could go back to windows though.

  • @goof713 Yes you are right but there is sum thing i have heard which i hate about my iphone too ,the dirt particle's getting inside the screen

  • Do the bottom fans on this laptop intake air or blow it out?

  • ok im looking at one right now which cost £650 on amazon, can any one tell me why this one is very cheap? its on amazon.co.uk just type in hp envy 15 and look at one costing £650, im sceptical as to why its so cheap haha

  • @Samirk92 its prob the older edition, make sure u get the new one 2nd generation chip

  • @Samirk92 Its probably because its refurbished and yeah it is the older edition. I have the exact same model i got it new for 700 about 8 months ago. It was exactly what i wanted but its a bit noisy and gets very hot.

  • @Samirk92 Its probably because its refurbished and yeah it is the older edition. I have the exact same model i got it new for 700 about 8 months ago. It was exactly what i wanted but its a bit noisy and gets very hot. Oh and the uk edition doesnt come with the battery slice in the video.

  • @PenguinPlop ok thanks man, i have now been looking at another one although this time its an acer 5750g it looks awesome and is £700 on play.com, do u know anything about it??

  • @Samirk92 well looking at game benchmarks it seems to be getting fairly similar results to what i get when i tested my laptop. so i dont think theres a huge amount of difference between the 540m and hd4830 in terms of power but the 540m does have optimus and dx11 so overall id say it might be better although the hard drives slightly slower . To be honest id say its one of the best value laptops ive seen if your looking to game on it anyway?

  • @Samirk92 oh and all the other specs are better than the envy too. But theres going to be more sandybridge laptops released around may so you might be better wait until its released and decide then. youll also be able to find out if theres any issues with it that way from other users

  • wonderfull

  • External dvd/cd drive made me not get this laptop, I mean cmon HP even the HP Envy 14 has internet dvd drive.

  • Why is he so excited for the hdmi? I have it on my 2007 laptop... Anyway it looks like Macbook pro and the MB's battery last up to 9 hours without an additional battery. But this is cheaper...

  • If you dont like apple, but you want a few of the macbook pro features, buy this, also supports hackingtosch.

  • msi gt660 > hp envy

  • it is possible to plug it on a external monitor? I dont have see a vga port

  • @Ouaueaio i believe it uses hdmi and mini display

  • cant u see pepole they copied macbook pro's design! they even copied the box wtf!

  • I wanna b a bada22

  • Something beautiful. Cant wait till september to buy my own.

  • this laptop would be perfect. but of course there's always one flaw. NO EXTERNAL DISK DRIVE. cmon man, its not a computer if it can't play dvds.

  • would you be able to run starcraft 2 or civ 5 on this?

  • its a nice laptop, but gets hot like a motherfucker

  • Wow, that's pretty sad. They design this half decent notebook, and they forget to put in a disk drive. So they give you an external one. Wow.

  • @PalmyJason I think they didn't include a disk drive because everything is moving towards memory sticks, DVDs are on the way out

  • @getconnectedtvshow

This Laptop should be a look in the future. And there are no more optical drives. I Will buy one next week

  • @getconnectedtvshow yea true but its taking a long time for disk to be phased out but i think its kinda B.S. that u have to have a external disk drive though

  • @getconnectedtvshow

No there not, flash memory is extream slow unless you dump insane cash into a USB 2.0 RAID flashdrive with a high data rate (dont confuse flash sticks with SSD's) Wile dvd's are slowly being phased out, its not becuse of flash drives there being phased out becuse blu-ray has alot more data capacity (dual layer BR disk is around 50gigs capacity) the machine is focused around "form over function" and portability.

  • @PalmyJason it now has a slit drive in it. So that you can just pop in a disk.

  • @Ronnie51026 well it's about TIME. lol just kidding. :p

  • @PalmyJason

not to mention this laptop is meant to be portable and in most instances you won't need a disk drive on the go

  • I egree, i can't belive that they don't puy disk drive reader, in this caind of notebook, it have to have a lest a blu-ray disk drive incorporated

  • @PalmyJason retard cd media is sooo 3 years ago, Why the fuck would i need disks when i have a 26 GB flash drive. Besides at least they gave us a removable dvd burner drive. Knowing those fags at apple they would charge some ungodly amount. Fuck you and Fuck apple

  • @PalmyJason yeah, DVD's and CD's are slowly fading away. Id say they were being nice to include an external disc drive.

  • @PalmyJason They decided to leave out the disk drive to reduce the weight of the laptop.

  • @PalmyJason

According to you, what is a decent notebook? a Macbook?

  • Hm, where is the disc drive? I don't see it.....

  • does he mean it does not have a dvd burner on it?!?

  • I want one :D, after my birthday ill sell my laptop and psp (wiv xtra stuff) and get one from ebay, coz theres no way im spending 1k!

  • So, its significantly thicker than the MacBook Pro (With the included battery installed), and yet has worse runtimes... If the MacBook Pro didn't have a optical drive built in, everyone would bash it saying its the worst notebook ever made... Yet nobody cares when HP offers a thicker notebook that lacks a built in optical drive?

  • Does that clip on battery create any over-heating issues?

  • Macbook Pro clone minus the quality.... Plastic piece of sh..t. It doesn't even have a built in DVD-burner and you have to mount a extra battery to get 7h batterylife....what a JOKE!!! HP fail bigtime!!

  • @robbansv Sounds like your big fan of the Macbook Pro. I think the reason HP didn't include a built-in DVD burner is because they realized that most people use flash disks instead. And I think the extra battery is just a backup feature. At then end of the day, as long as a computer can fit your personal needs, it is probably a good investment.

  • @getconnectedtvshow Well, I like quality and innovation. Why include a DVD-burner at all if HP think people use flash disks, it's just stupid to include a external one. One thing I don't like is companies like HP that copy other companies and fail because they don't get it quite right.

  • @robbansv I'll try to play Devil's Advocate on HP's behalf.... I think they include a DVD-burner because they realize people may need to burn something or play a DVD once-in-a-while but not frequently. So they give consumers the option of including it just in case. Same with the extra battery, it's just for those emergency situations. So I think they were trying to get it right by offering flexibility to consumers. It's clear that you are still not convinced it's real innovation by HP.

  • @getconnectedtvshow Ok, I see your point with the DVD-burner but it's still a bad solution by HP. I still think the external battery is a fail, it shouldn't be needed if HP done its job properly. It's like selling cars with a extra fueltank to put on the roof just in case users wants to drive a little further.

  • @robbansv Love the extra fueltank analogy, classic. What bugs me is why don't we have batteries that can last a week? Man on the moon, rovers to Mars, but your laptop...... well you have to charge that every day.......Things that make you go hmmmm

  • @getconnectedtvshow mmm I agree, I guess as batteries improve, the power consumption increases. a friend of mine has an old 2nd get ipod that still works, he just had to replace the batteries, meaning, with the new better batteries he has literally days of play time! now why hasn't one marketed something like that?!?!

  • @getconnectedtvshow Sounds more like he's a douche

  • @ArtyHarvy If one thing is certain, you and @robbansv are passionate tech enthusiast. Lets all agree to disagree. I'm right in the middle because if either the Envy or Macbook Pro suits your needs, then it's a great investment.

  • @robbansv Lets not forget that this computer packs an i7 jackass. You might as well be bitching because your brand new Corvette does'nt get 40 MPG. You will never get this much power, plus battery life. Its a trade off. Get off Steve Jobs dick before you get pregnant.

  • @ArtyHarvy Well, the MacbookPro has 8-9 hour batterylife with a i7 without a external battery.

So bend over, because you've just been fucked up the ass!!

  • @robbansv correction, 8-9 hrs, minus graphics card. Be advised, your parents never loved you. :D

  • @ArtyHarvy Correction of what??? Even with the dedicated graphics the MacBookPro has more battery-life than the HP (with its external battery attached)

And here we go again, another PC-fanboy who's owned and angry because he can't find his dick. Try looking up your ass maybe you left it there when you fucked yourself.

  • does ANYONE have the review of the beats special edition! or know where i can see one

  • Is there a reason why you didn't TURN it ON?

  • @claypots The segment is just a basic review of the features of the Envy as if you were to unbox it yourself and look at it for the first time. However, you make a great suggestion to perhaps have a "first bootup" segment and assess the software/performance side of a computer. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated

  • ENVY GOT NOTHING ON ELI

  • im totally getting one in 2 years when i go to college. hope its cheaper by then

  • does it have a glass screen?

  • @randomrazr I can understand why someone would think it is a glass screen, but I don't think any laptop has a screen made from glass

  • @getconnectedtvshow

    the macbook pro does lol

  • @randomrazr Had to check it out myself and your right, the macbook pro screen is built in with a glass enclosure. It looks like a mirror, and it does add a little more weight compared to a matte finish. Thanks, for the comments, much appreciated

  • whats the flat thing he puts under the com at 2:20? extra battery? i fail at listening :D

  • @yuanhui3344 It's an extra battery. It's pretty easy to connect and doesn't add too much weight.

  • Is this the beats edition?

  • @TheGuitarman951 No, the HP Envy 15 series featured in this review is not the beats edition. You can tell if it is a beats editions by looking for the beats logo on the front cover. Hope that helps.

  • @getconnectedtvshow it IS the Beats Edition, the logo is on the side

  • @DJSanMusic Great eye, had to take another look and I did see it, thanks for pointing that out.

  • I'm getting the HP Envy 14. It hasn't got any heat problems, better battery life and a slightly smaller screen for portability. The e14 is the way to go!

  • love the envy series..so much power to it and great resolution ratio.. only thing that is missing it the variety of the laptop skins.

  • @xotkflip Great suggestion, hopefully someone at HP is reading these comments. As computers become a part of our identity, it would be nice to be able to custom order a laptop with a personalized skin

  • finally, no glossy finger sticking cover

  • It must have good cooling without the disk drive in it. :P

  • Im sorry to say this even though im a fan of hp but that is such a copy from mac..seriously

  • @arbit3r9421 but isn't that a good thing? for someone like me who wants aluminum design and does not like OSX this is the only option, plus the specs are better on the envy

  • Very expensive to what its really worth. HP needs to lower the price

    we want 16" Please !!!

  • @88a Expensive? lol Go to Apple and see a little bit.

  • we want 16" Please !!!

  • he never said that it has a 1080p screen

  • @1993gandy It has three options, two for 1080p and one for I think 900-something-p.

  • what do you need a dvd drive for anyways? that's like asking for a desktop with a floppy drive

  • thats a gaming laptop

  • lol what a peice of shit cause the optical drive isnt even built in like the new macbook pro which is thinner

  • wholy shit what a copy of the macbook pro "BOX"

  • @DeathToTheseWalls

You also forgot to mention its only 5lbs!

  • This thing is a beast for it's price O.o

Once my current laptop becomes a little more out-of-date ill probably buy one of these.

I bought a Blackbird 002 a few years back and I've loved HP ever since.

  • @kjulien95 yeah I know. I was about to buy an Envy until Apple released the new lineup. Now I'm going for the MacBook Pro.

  • i actually like having an external DVD drive, the hardcore users would just use a mounted drive, and the lack saves even more power

  • The Envy beats the Macbook Pro in almost every aspect. The Macbook Pros look nice but this looks almost as nice and has much better hardware.

  • @ih80396 Well. The HPs and the MacBook Pros all have different processor.

  • @ih80396 but not in the operative system

  • @impossiblejau22 I do agree with you on the operating system, but is OSX really worth the extra 200 dollars? The HP Envy 14 is $200 less than the 13" MacBook Pro, and will have 1 gb of discrete graphics and a core i series processor. It's design is very similar to the MacBook Pro yet is much more powerful, so one has to wonder whether or not OSX is that much better than Windows 7. I like the Apple's os better than Microsoft's, but not when I am getting an underpowered and overpriced machine.

  • @ih80396 MAC BOOK PRO DONT GET VIRUSES ;D this coming from a macbook pro owner

  • @latinstuff1 Macs do get viruses, but it's much less likely to happen than on a Windows machine. You might not get viruses on your Mac, but that doesn't mean that no one does.

  • @ih80396 i have had many hp laptops, and the quality externally has been decent. internally however ive never had an hp last a full year without a major component failure. In comparison my macbook pro has been perfectly reliable. you can tell from the get-go that it's an all-around better laptop when it comes to build quality and style, furthermore i've never had a single hardware failure. thats why the MBP is the better computer.

  • @ih80396 lol the build quality isnt as good, the operating system isnt as good. to each his own.

  • @ih80396 i dont think so!

  • @DeathToTheseWalls the spec are amazing... but I wouldent buy Hp laptop if I were you... I have about 5 frds have it.... they all hate it.. HP laptop has Short life-span... Even my shitty Acer lasted longer than my frd's HP

  • @sparty007 what the fuck is a frd?

  • @GabeZTV frd = friend

  • its true it gets burning hot esp the left side. i dont know whats the prob! thats the only prob actaully the rest is jus great very sexy power!

  • if you cant wait until you get home to watch a movie, you can download the movie from itunes.

  • Really really like the battery idea.
