Very informative video. I have a 5904 & a camp 9. 1 of the main reasons I bought the pair was magazine "reciprocity" good word. I didn't know about the other guns. I do have a kel-tec but not in 9mm. So now I am going to have to check out the XD. I like it, but I have been trying to maintain versitility and simplicity. Does the XD mag also work in the S&W & camp nine? That would solve the modification issue, just go all Springfield mags...
Whether the XD mags and S&W mags are interchangable really boils down to how good at modding you are and how much patience you have to do it. I've heard that the S&W mags will work in XD mags with modding but not vice-versa, but I've never tried myself. I do know that in a pinch you could manually hold the mags in the mag well of either weapons and they'll work. I've tried that before.
@Gr8fulJO What about the SCCY CPX series? I understand it and the Keltec use the same magazines-would be cool if you could update/re-do and include the SCCY in this! : )
Your best bet is to do what I did. Take one of your mags to a gun shop, and then just see what it fits in. When I did it, the people working at the stores I went into were just as curious as I was. Not many people know about magazine reciprocity. I love being able to tell people with Glocks chambered in .45 about the KRISS super V. :)
Lol that's terrible! Move, my friend! I'm moving to Texas in a week myself lol. The ironic thing about the drop test is that I've dropped my XD multiple times and never had any problems. Then again, I don't throw it at the ground TRYING to set it off, either.....
@91364Steve@soldierfalcon It isn't because of the drop test. The XD's are legal in California, I used to shoot them at "The Firing Line" in Burbank, those have been grandfathered in. With the new law any NEW model has to have a magazine disconnect and manual thumb safety. So the new models (XDM) are unavailable in Kali. Also Kali's law requires a test fee, and gun for every model, color, and finish of each new weapon. So if SA comes out with a new color original XD it will not be be legal.
I hate those stupid safety tests. It's like, they couldn't find a way to disarm us with the already draconian laws, so they go "oh! ah... this pistol isn't... SAFE YEAH THATS IT!".
Riiight. So those Lorcin .380's are nice and secure and government approved, but I shouldn't risk my safety with those fly-by-night 8th gen Glocks.
First off, move away from Kalistan! lol To answer your questions, I think that the 14 rounders should work in any 59 or 59XX pistol. If memory serves, they all have the same sized mag wells. In regards to the XD, it would depend on which size you have. I *think* a 14 rounder will clear a full sized XD, but I have a subcompact so I am not sure. I love XDs btw. :)
Very helpful. I am in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. I have four 14-round mags for my Model 59 that I had before the ban, and I'm looking for a newer, steel-framed pistol that I can legally use the high-caps in. Your video showed the 15-rounders. Do you believe the *14-rounders* that originally came with my '59 will also work in the XD-9 (with mods) or an S&W 5906?
Kalifornia!? Move my friend! Anyway, to answer your question, I'm not completely sure. I don't think they'll work in the Kel-Tec p-11. However, the 14 rounders should work in a 5906. If memory serves, the magazine well in a 59 or 59xx are all the same. As for the XDs, it would probably depend on whether you have a subcompact or one of the other sized pistols. I have a subcompact wiht the short grip, so almost anything will fit in it.
I wonder if the longer mags would work better with a 4 inch wood block inserted to add pressure to the bottom of the spring. Cheap, maybe still get mid-20 capacity.
That's an EXCELLENT idea. I'm going to try it out in a couple of my magazine. The long mags I've got are unmarked, but I think they're made by National Magazine. The thing is, they cost the same as the 15 round Mec-Gar mags... so if a wood block lowered the mag capacity down to say... 20, it'd still be a good trade off.
Nice, Do you mind sending me a picture of the p11 with the 30 round mag in it? Thanks man.

@TactiKoolStuff Sorry - I don't have it anymore. Otherwise I would.

@Jayho74
No, it can not. Glock mags are "fatter" than S&W mags.

I own the p11 also. How much did that smith n wesson 59 series mag cost you, and how much does it hold??
BkDrew 1 year ago
@BkDrew they range from about $20-45
mike802 10 months ago
@BkDrew I want to say they're around 25 or 30 dollars and if memory serves they told 16 give or take 1.

Thank you friend. The wife and I keep talking about leaving the PRK. Have to at least wait until the house is worth something again.

Actually... I believe the XD series are not available in Kalifornia because of the silly drop-test law here. I gotta get out of here.

Post if it works. Aim for a cool 25! The good thing is the block would be long and cut it down piece by piece until you figure it is less reliable.
