I love this video! you know, I live in Ter Heijde! Yes i am actually one of the 600 remaining people who still live there. and you know what makes it even more bizarre? I did an intern at the "bird hospital" you mentioned! Haha how weird is that? Oh just one thing.. Ter Heijde was destroyed during WW2 to make room for the atlantik wall.. it was later rebuild just behind the dunes.. great videos! greetings from Holland
I live close to that place, and i come ther very often, but i have never see any wreckege in the see. I'm not saying it isn't true, but i've never seen it
oh wow, I always enjoy my time at the beach so much! if I'm lucky I see the beach 1 or 2 times in a year, because i live in a very small town nearby the border of gemany...
the Noordzee was indeed land, connecting the UK to the Netherlands, this is called "Doggerland", pre-historic thing. In fact not known by many at all :) Search it on Google if you like :)
Haha, I love this! It's great to see foreign people trying to learn our language, and liking our country for something different then just the weed and the hookers. And you're great at speaking Dutch, most people won't even try to pronounce some words :').
it's so weird that americans don't ride bikes that often... i ride my bike everywhere. to school, the mall... church... well i guess the main reason for that is that americans can drive at age 16.
peculiarities it is dued to the special history of the Netherlands. Dutch has about 25 million native speakers. Dutch is also spoken in some other parts of the world with some very little differences or as own dutch based languages (Africaans). (e.g. South Africa, Namibia, Belgium, Luxembourg, Suriname, Dutch Antilles, Pas-de-Calais in France, Indonesia's first social class, USA, Germany)
Dutch and English are kinda similar because both belong to the West Germanic Languages (English, German, Dutch,(Flemish)) so they are directly related to each other. Turning north to south in Western Europe, those languages, especially dutch, show an increasing usage of french influenced words that have been adopted into the languages. Those words are used in adjusted forms and complementary to the basic germanistic forms. The dutch call that process 'verfransing' and like most lingual
Cute Very Cute! I have a friend in Germany he says don't bother trying to learn German. They all know english so well! lol :o) But i still want to learn :o)
Exactly! I'm always watching video's, images, from all over the world but it's at least as interesting to see how 'the rest of the world' sees our habitat.
Hello, thank you, this was interesting, I didn't know about the village and I am dutch and go to the beach as often as I can. As you can see in my video response I like making photographs. I enjoyed the vid.. I'm moving to the US soon, i will miss the beach (no beaches in AR).
No, I was only out there for an hour or so, so I didn't get to see the village. I love listening to *other* people speak Dutch, but I can't stand listening to myself. They speak it so crisply, while I have a horrible, sloppy-sounding accent!
The story about the old village that is under water was so sad. Did you get to see it during low tide? I love listening to you speak Dutch. It's interesting how much you have to change your voice. :)
The guy who says 'Natalie on bike' sounds like a Russian
