your welcome. im a big money collector and i like to see what other people have. the 10's do look really cool, i think mine is probably the old 100's, the back on those look really awesome
I will have to do that. I might do that tomorrow, I collect star bills, and Error bills. But I dont buy them. I work at a Sonic as a car hop and look for cool bills and coins to come in lol.
i have a old 1 doller bill 2 doller bill 3 doller bill and 5 doller bill wow... and not alot of coins i love ur collection keep it up! good luck on u breaking the coin record!
Hold onto your dollars and coins you like. They are worth more then money if you know what I mean. Some day you can pass them on to someone else. Few people can appreciate the concept that you can step into a coin store, buy an indian head penny from 1862 and know that a cival war soldier could have heald it. Some youth could have gotten it in change from paper deleveries before 1900. It could have stayed in a mayo jar for years, only to make it to a store and in your hands. It's one of my loves
What else can you buy for 1 to 10 dollars that is over a hundred and fifty years old. It's always been an intrist of mine and probably always will be.
Don't bother looking for them from banks, because there are two reasons. 1) They don't have good quality notes. 2) When some notes get to the federal banks, the 'old looking' notes will get shredded and recycled. New ones will be printed. Look on Ebay and get notes from collectors. They are the ones who preserves the note values.
Funny you mention that. I was given a 1950 20 dollar bill a couple days ago and the logo "In God We Trust" isn't there. I think it was issuesd in 1957 series.
I believe there was an act after 1965 or 1967 saying that "In God We Trust" must be printed on all notes. But the act may not be applied to all coins.
I think it was as early as 1957. At some point there was an act that there must be an eagle on the back of every half dollar. That's why with the back of the Ben Franklin half dollar the eagle is so small. They wanted to concintrate on the bell, but had to have the bird too.
Hey, when are you going to post a new video??? I'd like to see an update I love our videos. I have a small collection of my own. I have 2 morgan's, 6 barber quarters, 40 silver rosevelt dimes, 4 rolls of wheats, some books, curency, and plenty more I have about 15 albums/books.
Sounds like a nice collection you have there. I've said I was going to do a coin update vid in the past, but lately things outside of YT have taken my time and are more important. Thank you for the compliments.
i love collecting currency; i agree about the value i dont really collect for that but i like to know how much i have stashed away just in case i would need it for something
There is always the monetary value and then the retail value. My grandfather gave me 2 silver dollars. The face value of them is 2 dollars. I could sell them for about 30 dollars, but they are priceless to me. I found an 1869 Indian head penny. That was my favorite coin find in spare change. Ive always collected and always will.
that is an awesome collection you have. i have a very small collection and i found a 1963 5 dollar bill and it is a star note as well i dont think it is worth much but i kept it ne way lol
Thank you very much. I started out with the blue penny book you'll see in the pennies vid of mine, and my obsession went from there, lol.
Its not realy about the value for me. I will admit though, the coins I buy right now are silver, or just silver bullion, but I always look through loose change.
Than you very much. I've added new pieces since this film. I never thought I would collect notes, but when you realize that they will be burned even if they have no retail value, it's still worth holding onto them. I found a 1981 100 dollar bill recently. Very nice and crisp.
If you're talking about the plastic holders, the baks won't have them. Ebay, would have them, but I always tell people to look in the yellow pages of a phone book and see if any local coin and currency dealers live by you.
Dear JRHulbret, if i would have a 1957 series B USD1 silver certificate with a dash of dirt on it,would the value be worth considerably less? How about a 1875 US trade dollar?(thanks for the info!)
I'm not an expert on notes or coins, but if there is any dirt, creases, tears, or pen ink, ten it will take the value down conciderably. The shame of it is that 1 dollar silver cerificats aren't worth very much anyway, but the 5 and 10 dollar certificates have gone up conciderably. I don't know aout the 1857 trade dollar, but it would be well worth getting it apraised.
I'd love to see it. You saw my 36 Hamilton 10 dollar. I just picked up a 53C red note 2 dollar bill and a star 1 silver cert. Not very valueable, in fact I never do this for money. But the design is killer on the back.
Interesting video. I have started a small coin/note collection by the same reasoning, if I get them I keep hold of them.
Here in Scotland we have three banks that are allowed to print their own notes. A few in Northern Ireland can too. These notes all circulate along side the standard UK BoE notes.
One of the Banks here is issuing a new set and I've been trying to get hold of a few.
Thank you for the compliments. It's becoming more and more difficult to find the older U.S. notes. So when I do find them I keep them.
I do have alot of Ireland(old punts and most coins having harps on them) and Uk coinage, but none from Scottland. I would love to have coins and notes from there.
I did mean to mention. Coins in the UK are all standard. It is only the notes that differ.
In England, you sometimes get funny looks if you hand over Scottish notes. Many people in England think that Scottish notes are not legal tender, and they are correct, but they are also confusing the term "legal tender" with "legal currency" (as defined in law) All UK notes are acceptable as payment.
In fact in Scotland, no banknotes are considered "legal tender" only coins.
So Scottish money isn;t accepted in the Uk, but the UK currency is accepted in Scottland?
Currency is funny. As long as one person or one store or company or even country will accept it, it is "legal". In the U.S. there is one primary currency, with the Federal Reserve, but silver"liberty dollars" are also accepted in some states.
Well, Scotland is part of the UK. (I know some in the US are educated that UK = England, which is not at all true)
Scottish banknotes are dispensed by Scottish Banks as well as BoE notes. In England however it always BoE notes. Scottish notes are returned internaly to the issuing bank once paid into an account.
General circulation does not see Scottish notes penetrating deep into England. In the north they'll be taken no problem, in London you may get funny looks.
It is worth noting that the BoE (Bank of England) is actually the Central Bank of the UK, not England. The Bank of England was actually founded by a Scotsman who lived in a town less than 20km from where I live.
All notes are GBP Sterling, and all Scottish / Northern Irish issued notes are backed by reserves of BoE notes (in £1,000,000 special denomination notes).
Hopefully soon the Euro will end all this mess. :D
you said your ones are like a brick. its more than a brick. a brick is 1000 notes. so you have a brick and 3 bundles in your ones.
