  • Agree that the CJB version (or versions) is the best, though this is great to hear. There are a LOT of live recordings by of CJB, including many that haven't been issued. I second also the recommendation for the Mosaic box, a standout set even in that stellar catalog.

Thanks for posting this, brightened my day considerably.

  • Wonderful ensemble playing - tight, swinging and tasteful. Ted Rosenthal has a wonderfully percussive attack on the piano - his solo with the crack rhythm section was electric! Mike Mossman is right in the pocket with a brilliantly executed solo - love the Harmon mute. Thanks for posting.

  • I know this tune from the 1958 Mulligan Quartet recording "What is there to say?"

It sounds completely different played by the ten piece band. Unusual to see Rob McConnell on valve-trombone is stead of Bob Brookmeyer.

  • The definitive rendition of this tune is by Mullgan's Concert Jazz Band from the VV live recordings. If you haven't got it, find it and buy it. Better still, get the Mosaic boxed set with the complete CJB recordings. The version posted is good...the one with the CJB at the VV sets the bar. Find it and check it out.
