I remember, wherever that elderly lady ghost is, I was running from her and she came flying around the corner and I was like, "OH SHIT!" The only reason why people cannot see the hand prints on the other side of the wall is because they can only be seen if you are in the Otherworld because they only exsist in the Otherworld. (If you, or your viewers, don't know what Otherworld is please see SH1 for a reference). Harry is trapped in a room that is slowly being taken over by the Otherworld, like Silent Hill was. I really can't explain much without spoiling the plot for you. However, remember this; they serve as a marker.

David Lynch is a director whose frequently mind screwing movies include Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead and Inland Empire. His most well-known work is the TV series Twin Peaks, which you may or may not have heard of.

He's not really a horror director, but considering how much of his work leaves you with a feeling of "what the hell just happened?" I think he's an appropriate reference point for Silent Hill.

Those ghosts are a pain, a MAJOR pain. The game gives you items to deal with them, but I suggest, to save them for dealing with your apartment, and its various spooks that will hurt you in there. Also, you will get these swords that will keep a ghost from getting you for the rest of the game, I suggest you use them for the ghosts that are more of a threat.
