  • ultimate poolside jukebox music in the 60's..Thank You!

  • Great girl group, they sound so good together,my favorite song? You Baby, thanks for posting.

  • Hauntingly Beautiful..

  • Mr. Spector was strange but a huge music maker!!

  • This is the only Ronettes (Spector) song featuring just the three girls singing, no others doing back up here.

    My favorite Ronettes song!

  • Maybe my favorite song of all time?

  • ronettes harmonies are mind blowing!!! these three women..ronnie..nedra..estelle rip...will alway's be the best. as far as i'm concerned..no girl group has even come nearr them!! hey dubliner..ty my friend for the pics..outstanding!!

  • @69mercurymarquis

    my pleasure!

  • All those cute wall of sound songs by Phil Spector, and the ronettes led to the murder of Lana Clarkson with Spectors sound garden of lying vision.

  • @zelda5729 -- Spector was a musical genius but a deranged control freak, possibly worse then Ike Turner (Ike was horribly abusive but he never murdered anyone).

  • you got that one right --- what a sound

  • Ronnie Spector is one of the cutest ladies I've ever seen. And heard. Simply wonderful.

  • THE BEST EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gigsports ..........greetings fan..........somebody has posted on-line what they believe this song is really about..........dont know if it is right or not but it is certainly interesting............can be found at "austentayshus australiana damo3805" and press "see all" to find the 3 hidden comments. regards.

  • A 'spiritual experience'...well said. What else could take us back in time & emotion so well?

  • I know it sounds crazy, but I get almost a spiritual experience into the realm of the beauty of the feminine world, every time I hear this song.

  • I Wore Out The "Grooves" on my "45" Playing This Song Over & Over!!

  • ALWAYS puts chilllls up my spine!! THE BEST "Girl Group"!

  • @aattura

    I totally agree

  • @aattura Yep, absolutely, me too. Amazing after all these years....the feeling won't quit.

  • wore this song out on the juke at ElToro Marine air base in SoCal.64-65

  • @soxbearshwks I heard from someone else who saw them live while he was in the service...the high point of his military career, he said!!

  • @dubliner27 I saw them in uk live in the sixties, and yes they where good

  • love the oldies, they never get old.

  • The first "do i love you" from nedra and estelle in this record blows you away..0:47

  • Song made me feel like a tough guy back in 9th grade.

  • No better girl group ever---ever---including The Supremes

  • My all time favourite

  • This is slightly different than the usual version (see jameycruz22 's posting at right .) Perhaps an alternate take ?

  • @HotRodThinkin this is a different mix, for stereo. After a quick listen, it seems like the percussion on this version is mixed down, handclaps and vocals, especially Ronnie's, mixed up

  • @dubliner27 ..Yep...as Phil said, Back to Mono

  • @HotRodThinkin

Too bad Phil Spector screwed them!

  • All the Ronettes music was great but this one outshone them all. Love those girls. Wonderful song.

  • @smokingolejerry this is a better song than "Paradise"?

  • Thanks TV&Music. I also remember hearing a version by a male soul singer/group but I've no idea who it is.

I guess I'll find out one day......

  • Can someone tell me who did the other versions of this fabulous tune ?

    Thanks !

  • @Zzuni1 Jay And The Americans did a good version of this song. There was also versions by Peggy Lee, Paul Anka, The Tremeloes, Judy Garland, The Andrew Sisters, Ethel Merman, and Ella Fitzgerald.

  • I dont think anyone could do these girls justice ............just my opinion

  • I grew up as a boy in the 60's with songs like this one floating through the air and into my senses...I am so glad that I was around then and can now still enjoy the brilliance of Phil Spector, all the great song writers and the fabulous Ronettes.

  • Without hesitation the greatest girl group of all time . So unique , such great music , arrangements , so much talent with Ronnie Spector in the lead ---music never gets old

  • @virginia177612 I concur. I would put the Shirelles # 2 and the Supremes # 3. Phil Spector certainly had the touch.

  • What comes around goes around. It is a shame that none of the people Phil Spector made famous throughout his life could be bothered to turn up and speak on his behalf at his trial.

  • this is the best of all ronettes songs.fantastic!

  • GOD I Love This Song!! At The First Of This Song, 0:20 Where They Are In White, Standing There Holding Hands!. Dam, What a Great Picture!! I Don't Think Anyone Could Play RONNIE!! NO ONE*****

  • Beautiful ladies, beautiful voices and beautiful music!

  • A Ronettes Movie would be fantastic PLEASE PLEASE don't Disco up the Music Use the Phil Spector Wrecking Crew Wall of Sound Tracks

    Who would play Hal Blane

  • Katie Perry as Ronnie Spector, Robert Downey Jr as Phil Spector any other ideas? Is this a bootleg the stereo is too wide for a Spector production?

  • @capitolemiproducer Regina Spektor as one of them

  • Katie Perry as Ronnie Spector, Robert Downey Jr as Phil Spector any other ideas?

  • LLOVE THESE GIRLS BACK THEN. YES I WOULD LVE TO SEE A RONETTTES MOVIE. OF COURSE PHIL SPECTOR COULD NOT DO A CAMEO SINCE HE IS IN JAIL. MURRAY THE K USE TO LOVE THESE GIRLS.

  • superb the best ever

  • She's great in stereo, too. Iconic 60s. They don't makem this way any more!

  • Perhaps the most sublime 2:40 minutes in pop history...

  • This music stands the test of time and I am sure it will live forever, it takes me back and makes me feel so good

  • The great sounds of Phil Spector and his fabulous Ronettes featuring Veronica. This is one album I will keep forever..

  • I would be great to do a movie about the Wall of Sound and Phil Spector

The things that worries me about doing one. Everything would sound too 70's Disco and not the Wall of Sound.

Look at La Bamba IN the Movie They forgot the Wrecking Crew.

Los Lobos did a good job but the movie missed the 50's sound.

  • @TL250Rider They would just have to use the real session tapes, there are at least an hour of sessions out there, enough for a movie. Phil came up with an idea for a biographical picture in 73, in three parts, each directed by a different person, namely Kubrick, Coppola and Scorsese. Phil wanted Al Pacino to play him, since he was his favorite actor after seeing The Godfather. I also heard o f amore recent movie with Tom Cruise as Phil.

  • @MusikAndLuv they wanted frank sinatra to play the godfather but it was a little too close to home I know a friend who was in the same class at nyu as scorcese but his documentarys are better scorcese stole other peoples bob dylan documentarys and said he never heard of bob dylan [suppoase your a cop and your called to a theater there is a pipe in a phone booth with wires sticking out whats the first thing you do A] call the bomb squad B] order popcorn C] evacuate the theater D] pull the wires

  • @TL250Rider The people who made the mini-series about the Temptations did a fabulous job; it was nominated for several Emmy awards. It would be great if the people involved with that could make the Ronettes movie. It would truly be hard to find someone who looked like Ronnie that could also sound like her, so they would probably have to go with unknowns lip-synching to the original recordings. Someone suggested Kim & Kourtney Kardashian as Ronnie & Estelle, but who could play Nedra????

  • I played all these songs in the jukebox at the local soda shop in the 60's . I loved it all but the girl groups were something special . The Ronettes, Shirells, Royalettes, Marvelettes, Dusty Springfield , Shagri-las and many more.

  • yes,a movie would be great!,bt who plays ronnie?certainly not diana ross!,maybe aretha franklinshe'd have to lose weight!

  • love this song i was about 8 in '64,but couldn't figure out who it was so didn't buy record collected 45's back then!

  • Incredible this is music

  • SO HOTTTTTT!

  • Yes they do need a Ronettes movie. This is such a great song, along with most of their stuff....Do i love you...yes i love you ....Three girls with awesome voices.....

  • If the Ronnette's songs don't remind you of how special the 60's were, nobody's music will. Some of their songs give me goosebumps! All good-looking girls too!

  • This song was way ahead of its time.

  • GREAT song!

  • @stafylides, I think she was 67 and I heard that she died from colon cancer. She left one daughter and three grandsons behind. Her life turned out so sad for a person who was so blessed in her youth. She suffered from mental illness and anorexia for many years, and was even homeless at times. A very gentle and humble soul; it seems she was just heartbroken when the group broke up and couldn't deal with it. So tragic that she died alone after having dated some of the most famous stars.

  • @jennifersenn very interesting indeed and very sad she passed away after such a wonderful career and so young. Is there a Ronettes fan club by any chance?

  • @stafylides , I have been trying to find out if there is a fan club because I love them! How long have you been a fan?

  • @jennifersenn oh my dear I've been a fan for many years since back at school (70's) I was too young to remember them when they first came out but they've always been popular in England! They had wonderful songs and great voices, don't you think! Have you read Ronnie's autobiography?

  • @stafylides , yes, I read her book when it came out in 1990, but it didn't really tell very much at all about Estelle and Nedra. I started really getting into their music last year and started reading everything I could find about them online.

  • Uh...uh...uh....no cooler words(?) were ever uttered on vinyl.

  • was released 7/64 and stayed in the top 40 for 4 weeks.. peaked at #34.. good song...

  • do i love you? yes i love you. :)

  • ME TOO !!!

  • i didn't think this was popular outside of New York City.

  • big in toledo!!!

  • big all over the english speaking 1960s world

  • Love this song. Got to meet Ronnie in 1978 and took a picture of her, truly a treasure

  • Does anyone know if these marvellous girls are still singing?

  • @stafylides

Only Ronnie still performs. Ronnie's sister Estelle passed away last year and Nedra got married and became a born again Christian.

  • they need to do the Ronettes movie!

  • Good idea! But they better find someone really special to play Ronnie!

  • @dubliner27 Only Ronnie can play Ronnie, right LOL

  • @lashirnette the intro was used in a radio commercial for the action house in long island i wonder if they ever performed there they were in the murry the k show in brooklyn

  • @spacepatrolman PHILLES R ECORDS [[[[[[STEREO]]]]]]]

  • @lashirnette Damn, straight! They probably need a young unknown to play Ronnie. (How about Dionne Bromfield!!!) It would be impossible to make it without Phil's domineering presence, though. I would hate for Ronnie to be a side-character in a film about Phil Spector, instead of the main character. There is a lot to chew on here and these bio-pics are tough to pull off well.

  • @LesbianVampireLover - yes, we need a Ronettes movie, but you're right, don't turn it into a Phil Spector movie!

That's a movie on its own! And maybe Dionne could do Ronnie, she ceratainly does Tammi terrel, and Robert Downey might make a good Phil Spector (quirky)

  • @dubliner27 I definitely believe that Dionne could do original singing better than anyone around. I think she would be PERFECT. I don't know about her *looking* like Ronnie, who is so uniquely beautiful. But this is a story which needs to be told, like Dusty Springfield, the biopic which they still haven't quite pulled off.

  • @lashirnette great ides,,,but almost impossible in MY eyes. the trio had a mixed heritage and i see no one on the current landscape that could reflect that mix. i guess ultimately, it's a movie and you have to give into the story. personally, i would not be able to do it.their images were too iconic.

  • More proof of god

  • @phillydog17 Amen to that.

  • @phillydog17 Amen

  • @phillydog17 Or on a sour note, proof god has forsaken us. Look at music now.

  • I saw Ronnie live at the belly-up tavern in Solano Beach Ca, she was backed up by the mar-dels and just shook the whole club with her great sound and dance routines. great great show!.

  • SUPERB!

  • best song ever!!! thenik1948

  • this track sounds great i stereo,Ronnies vocals superb, thank you for posting
