  • Loved the time I spent there. McMurdo and Sp Station

  • beutifull <3

  • Can i live in Antarctica? is it legal>?

  • @SuperKare123 No one really "Lives" here, but lots of people do seasonal work here.

  • @SuperKare123 Stupid question

  • @CxRax blow me

  • @SuperKare123 No thanks gay guy, if you want another guy to blow you, look somewhere else, I prefer women instead.

  • super !!!!!!

  • I read Antarctica was once a tropical paradise. That place holds a lot of answers to many questions we have today.

  • @voiceguy100 awesome!!!

  • This is fantastic!

  • The author of this video does not allow playback on iPad, what's all that about?

  • @stephenpeters1 Nothing to do with me. I think youtube limits it because of the soundtrack.

  • I never knew antarctica sounded like that.

  • @Antzarctica At 3:45, why is ice melting when its winter? Also, could you post months according to the video time? I cant figure just by watching as I am from Asia and its always summer here :p.

  • @manusharma23 That is a bucket of chains that was on a loader that was emptied out when the vehicle was brought inside to thaw out.

  • is it a nice place to watch the stars?

  • @lloyde32 The best place on the planet for stargazing I reckon.

  • not even Lichen grows here? no plant life at all??

  • @acerb45666555 Depends where you are. Up on the peninsula below South America there is grass in some areas. There are a few lichens where we are, pretty much nothing further south.

  • @acerb45666555 you got more life in the glacier than on earth... Life started in this sort of shit

  • @acerb45666555 The extreme conditions make Antarctica a habitat in which only the hardiest can survive. Very few species have been recorded on the 2% of the continent that is ice-free. They include about 150 lichens, 30 mosses, some fungi and one liverwort.:D

  • I thought Antarctica is a lonely place, no people at all. Now I know. Thanks for this video.

  • @repaeu It is a memorial marker to a man who died there when his bulldozer fell through the ice, his body was never recovered. He was a Christian. Do you find it offensive he has a Christian marker?

  • @Antzarctica Didn't realise it was a memorial marker, my apologies. I would have found it offensive if it was there just for religion's sake, as if Christianity somehow owned the continent. That's terrible what happened though, was that ever reported in the news? That's my first time hearing about it, and you'd think at least American news broadcasters would want the story.

  • @repaeu Mother Mary isn't just in Critiananity im Catholic I beileve in her so stop being all ''Chritian that'' and ''christan this'' About Virgin Mary ok? Jeez!

  • @Pacman117productions Catholicism is a denomination of Christianity. Ergo, you're a Christian.

  • @repaeu Catholic is a different Version of Christanity so yeah differnt names different things

  • @repaeu since when do Christians own anything? (other than churches and various bookstores, I guess)

  • @repaeu you are a dumb ass

  • @repaeu i aggree with you

  • @repaeu Are you only allowed in Antarctica if you`re not a Christian ? I`ll wager if you`d seen practically anything else there, you would have hardly noticed it. People are allowed to be religious, you fucking Prick !

  • @repaeu God was there before we were.

  • @repaeu i would have on in my yard so would the next guy maybe a group of christians went there and religion is sin btw soooooooo.....

  • @repaeu Are you serious? A little cross is going to ruin these spectacular views for you? Good lord you're a douchebag!!!

  • ill just make a boat and sail there its the only free continent!

  • beautiful shots!

  • Mother Earth is sooo beautiful!!:-) Than you so much for sharing this with us.

  • OMG!The aurora sooo beautiful!!!!!!

  • How do you go to Antarctica i saw a bunch of people there at 0:45 PLEASE HELP

  • @Pacman117productions Google USAP Jobs

  • @Antzarctica by the way i was hoping if you could tell me how to get there if you could that would be worderful. Also is there any jobs that help you travel around the world thanks

  • @Pacman117productions Basically if you want to be employed in Antarctica you need to get a job with your home country government, or be legally able to work in the home country of the base you are interested in.

For folks in the UK google British Antarctic Survey Jobs, in the US google USAP jobs. Travel is typically provided for you.

  • @Pacman117productions you can go on a trip to antartica but it cost's alot of money

  • i'm interested in staying in antartica for a while. i am still an undergraduate. can you suggest any courses in university i should take which can get me a job there?

  • @complicatedjason You are much more likely to get a job there as a tradesperson (electrician mechanic etc), but in research fields there are all sorts, and you pretty much need to attach yourself to a project. Google UASP NSF to see what types of things are going on.

  • @Antzarctica thx for the info

  • Thumbs up if you live in Antarctica

  • What were they doing at 3:50?

  • @VideoFreakAustinT Pushing snow over the hard ice to make a soft road for tracked vehicles to drive on.

  • Wonderful video! I served in McMurdo Station, Antarctica last year (SEP - NOV 2010) and it was amazing...so were the people there. Your video really captures the place with the shots of the Galley, dorms, the sun moving sideways across the sky...the frozen ocean...the planes landing on ice runway...Ob hill, the buildings of McMurdo, but I didn't see the Chapel of the Snows in your video...your music is great . Makes me so remember being there, and how special it was. Thank you.

  • i just realized how ignored Antarctica is. I know its just a giant frozen tundra but it is a part of this world, i wish there were more videos of people just walking around showing off the continent :)

  • I love the way how you keep capturing while moving with the camera from place to place :PPPP nice nice nice nice

  • Awesome video (in the original and more recent senses of the word).

  • OMFG! A time lapse of nacreous clouds! I've always wondered how they move. I recently moved to Fairbanks, Alaska. I hope to see some this winter.

  • There are warm water lakes there too. Antarctica has many secrets.

  • this is really cool video thx you

  • earth is so pracious and beautiful. let make it more beautiful...

  • the music is beautiful in this clip, well done. Well interesting.

  • a lot of info here!

  • are the masters of Antarctica hiring? I was always interested in finding a way to get there to explore and be part of a team

  • 0:58 scared the livin 'crap out of me..

  • Hi Antzarctica,

I was just wondering when your film/documentary on ice will be released. You were last talking about it a few months ago in your blog, but I have not seen any mention of it since then. Perhaps it's already been released, and I missed it?

  • @nonewmail Just got off the Ice, with a load more summer footage. Going into the post production now, so later this year the film should be out.

  • thwas was awsome! :)

  • wow what a beautiful place it seems practically like an entire continent uninhabited and the aurora borealice if I spelled that right has to be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen

  • @10Residentevilfan Antarctica is a uninhabited continent. I believe the Southern Lights are Aurora Australis and the Northern Lights are Aurora Borealis.

  • @allfantasticimages ha that is so cool the aurora is awesome too

  • beautiful...

  • beautiful...

  • this video is too beautiful to describe in words

  • such a beautiful place that virtually no one ever sees. imagine all the incredible sun sets and rises or cloud formations, color strewn ice and snow formations and only god views them century after century.

  • @SurfSkateJerk Not very often this far south, normally it is too cold to snow, low air temps mean no moisture in the air to make snow with most of the time.

  • @Antzarctica How does the camera survive such cold temperature??? (and for so long)

  • Beautiful. It's nice to see there is a place on Earth that humanity hasn't brutally raped for its resources yet.

  • @KittyRokher

    What resources?

  • @aneitalt

Surveys report large reserves of lithium, I believe, far below the antarctic surface.

  • Very cool video! Thanks! :-)

  • Any nation with sufficient vision to develop technologies such as Culture Meat and vat grown foods in general, would be well in a position to claim the resources of all of Antarctica, plant it's flag, stake it's claim, and establish outposts and archologies across the frozen continent.

  • Also I found quite by accident that "December" by Static-X makes a nice alternate soundtrack for this video. Gives it a distinctly different feel. Give the music about a six second head start and things sync up quite nicely.

  • Great videography and editing! Awesome video!

  • @Boogonomotry Marijuana is 100% legal in Netherlands aswell :)

  • great tune

  • holy shit theres no midnight in antartica?

  • @rotenburk There's midnight, it's just that the sun is still shining in summer.

  • @Antarctica Love your work . Keep up the good work Antzarctica. With the talent of smart people like you, and advancements of climate insulating technology, I feel the majority of humanity will be able to live Antarctica some day.

  • @Antzarctica PLEASE REPLY,

    I have a few questions.

What is the Currency (if no currency what type of money do they use there? Euro,Dollars, etc.)

Is it legal to go there by sailing (like if you sail there will you have to leave?)

What is the lowest tempature recorded there.

If I am going to Antarctica for the first time any advice? (Example: What to wear,Food,Weapons,Etc.)

    Thanks!

    - Pacman117 AKA Skittles

  • @Pacman117productions

the wikipedia will answer most of your questions.

also you cant sail there once you sail you have to go trough the super thick ice to get there.

  • @Pacman117productions lowest recorded temp is -89c

  • @Doo0ne was that with or without windchill?

  • very cool to see the moon 'upside-down'!

  • That was amazing!!! I never knew how beautiful the Antartic was.

  • the winter music reminds me of edward scissorhands

  • This was breathtaking. Thank you!

  • I want to go to there.

  • Birth to 10 Years old Time Lapse - /watch?v=jl7-P7opKa4

    Enjoy!

  • Wow. Breathtaking. Completely in awe with this "last frontiere" it would seem. So what the heck are the nations doing in Antarctica that we (the uman race not just U.S.) are funding so much in research and business?

  • @killerdog5500 You could say just like any frontier we have explored. It's another place we are explore for the possibility to live someday

  • how come the c-5 galaxy has 1 engine on 1 side then 2 on the other?

  • @MRdynomite101 There are two each. Just the angle of view.

  • @MRdynomite101 It's a C-117, not a C-5

  • That's cool I used to play football across the North Pole, damn penguins are like a taller Maradona:D

  • what is that green light? looks fantastic :)

  • @ArenaTM Auroas. Check out my other video "Aurora" for more of them.

  • Comment removed

  • @ArenaTM correct me if im mistaken but i beleive thts the gases in the air

  • fantastic.

  • If you are traveling from the U.S., how long does it take to get to McMurdo, and what route do you take? New Zealand or South America?

  • @CoreyLihe 12hrs LAX to AKL New Zealand, 1.5hr AKL to CCH. Christchurch to McMurdo 5 Hrs.

  • How is the camera moving at the same time?

  • @ooKRE8Roo Very slowly, have a look on my vimeo page under the user name Anthony Powell, I posted a clip there of one of my motion control rigs.

  • ce est jenial et incroyable !

  • VERY nice video, very interesting !

Is the base for studying Antarctica itself or global warming?

Also, isn't the music used from Edward ScissorHands? (I just watched it last night...for about the zillonth time..I love Johhny Depp) :-)

  • @blunklaura We study a huge variety of things, including climate change.

  • that is so incredible

  • pfft time lapse my aunt Jemima!

  • @kawless Why? How fast does your aunt Jemima move?

  • i will do anything to go to antartica because scientist said that its the last place where humans havent polluted .. (yet)

  • Listen to both halves of this video to Orff's "O Fortuna". The transitions synch up almost perfectly and paints the video in a very different light than the original soundtrack. I was blown away :D

  • The winter segment is so beautiful I just want to cry.

  • Reminds me how much the Ice sucks... makes me really want to go back. BTW, great job capturing the place. Thanks for sharing.

  • Reminds me how much the Ice sucks... makes me really want to go back.

  • great video antzartica!!

  • very nice and touching video antzartica!!! shows the world are differences!!! great job!!:) sometimes i would like to leave out of the states myself and conquer something different! here most of the time we dont appreciate what we have!!!thanks again!

  • The only place on earth, I hear, doesn't have Lyme Disease... amazing part of the world~

  • WOW, that was magnificent. So beautiful!!!!! I have a tear welling up. Seriously, haha.

  • omg so beautiful!

  • wonder has the port ever found any illegal immigrant's frozen in one of there cargo creates ?

  • @okuma0kuma No, but then again Antarctica is not a country and has no government, so it would not be illegal for anyone to be there if they wanted to.

  • @Antzarctica cool so i could go there and claim my self the king of snow balls using leopard seal as to royal guard of my ice castle

as i eat my tax free penguin egg and kelp salad for breakfast every day

hmm i need servant to milk the seals there bit awkward at keeping the dairy suction cups on those nipples ! any volunteers

  • @Antzarctica i should come there and start a colony and a army

  • @Antzarctica Haha, good luck to them though if they did go there. That place doesn't look too inviting haha. Beautiful, in a Poisonous Frog kind of way.

  • @okuma0kuma Most of the people who live in Antarctica work for the government of the United States, other countries or some university. Therefore the laws that apply in their own countries also apply in the government lands that are claimed in Antarctica. I have not been there but I do know a lot about the land surrounding the south pole. Believe me you would not to go to Antarctica alone. or without the help of a professional organized science team. At 120 below zero noone survives unprotected

  • @Antzarctica Actuly there are places that a countrey own go check wikipedia "antarctica" and scroll down to

    Antarctic territories

  • Very beautiful and hard work, i love this film.

    Great job

  • Generally, what sort of characteristics would those in charge of hiring people for the United States Antarctic Program look for (in common with all employment opportunities)? Also, is there an unimaginable amount of competition for these jobs? Thanks. :D

  • @Feedmadcat Competent and healthy, and yes, lots of competition for a lot of the jobs, but occasionally they have trouble finding people with certain trade skills, as there are often better paying jobs elsewhere.

  • @Feedmadcat I spent a Winter in Antarctica a few years back at Scott Base which is only a few miles from the American base at McMurdo (the American crew loved our bar lol), They are after people with trades to run the place do maintenance etc, In summer they are also after people who have aircraft cargo handling experiance, The American and New Zealand Antarctic program is run out of Christchurch New Zealand, Flights to the ice vary from 6 hours to 10 hours depending on the Aircraft you are on

  • why fire in 4:22?

  • @Olebrucanism That is steam from the power plant being lit up by the flood lights.

  • I worked there 54 weeks in 1993-94. This is as nice and neat a depiction as I have seen.

  • ini kampung halaman si dogol..wkwk

  • shouldnt it be dark almost all summer in Antarctica?

  • @BoomerMcnasty no, it's not. Summertime there is OUR winter, so the sun is up all the time. Remember, the seasons are reversed there! :) So, yes, during OUR Summer ,it is winter there, hence, it is dark all the time!

  • @westheless04 ya thats what i though...just weird wording. Im in alaska and my summer (june-aug) is a lot of sun. The sunny time you showed was like (dec-feb) right?

  • splendid

  • Wow! I would love to go there and explore.

  • Thanks for uploading!!

  • Are "nacreous" clouds the same as noctilucent clouds? You show some of the best cloud formations, lots of orographic effects going on there!

Second question: what types of camera equipment have you worn out, and how long does it take? Is the cold contributing to the wear and tear? I use a Canon 5D for my time-lapses, see my page.

    Beautiful work, will stay tuned.

  • @ansonchappell I have several SLRs, but mostly use the 5D2 now. I have worn out a 20D, XSi, and a number of small ones. Check out the "timescapes forum" for lots of time lapse info and helpful people.

  • @ansonchappell and no, nacreous or PSC clouds are different, much higher altitude and only at (mostly) southern polar regions.

  • 3:40, Ryu from Streetfighter shot a shooryuken over the sky
