  • The reaper may be one step behind Shadow, but Shadow is one step behind chuck Norris!

  • The greatest of all time

  • I want to have sex with this game and I haven't even played it yet.

  • @Neobahamut0zero Yeah man, greatest game ever made.

  • @hondo42 I've heard. All I can do right now is listen to another Final Fantasy's great soundtrack and read the youtube comments about the areas and characters...I want to play it sooooo BAD

  • Be careful. His dog eats strangers...

  • Thumbs up if hearing this made you pull out your old copy of FF3 and play it.

  • @NiHuWi It's final fantasy 6 in England ^-^

  • @goldenfantasygirl Yeah. I know its FF6 everywhere but the US, but I figured most people would know what I meant.

  • @NiHuWi I knew what you meant...O_o...just thought i would share it for the people who didint ^-^

  • I personally think Steve Blum is a bit overused in games and anime these days..but this game definitely needs a remake

  • Who do you think should voice Shadow? Kevin Conroy who did Batman? Or Steve Blum who did Spike Spiegel?

  • @CHCHuser I dont think he should have a voice

  • @finalfan190 he clearly speaks in the game, maybe he would have the same guy who voiced Vincent in that awful Advent Children movie. I found the actor for Vincent in that movie quite good, he has the deep raspy voice and that's what I see Shadow to have personally.

  • @CHCHuser i think the guy who voiced Kain in the FF4 remake

  • watch?v=HABYaIn_Xd8

    my remix

  • This makes it sound like a Western movie

  • @darthgrahf Composer Nobuo Uematsu actually used spaghetti-western music composer Ennio Morricone (The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly) as a point of reference while writing the music for Shadow.

  • Developers need to understand One thing when they do remakes: Don't change the game, simply remake the game according to graphical standards, perhaps switch some chests around, add a few, make a couple new items. Too much change is bad when you are remaking a game.

  • @ConvictedHeart I don't know FFVI had some pretty severe balance issues in the endgame. I beat Kefka on my first try at level 40 just spamming Ultima. Cyan could use an overhaul too. If they remade it, I'd like those issues fixed.

  • @CronoManiac42 I didn't mean that those are the ONLY things they should change. I DO mean that they should be conservative. Sure add some content say an extra dungeon or something. But to change too much is bad.

  • Heard this guy would slit his mama's throat for a nickel 0_0!!!!!

  • @TheInstantClassic1 i would do the same XD jas kiddin

  • @TheInstantClassic1 Depending on the day he'd do that just because he felt like it

  • "Wherever I go the reaper is just one step behind me..."

  • Leave us. The dog eats strangers.

  • Terra.

In this world are many like me who've killed their emotions. Don't forget that.

    -Shadow

My favorite quote of my favorite game.

  • @Kefkadet Yes, an awesome quote.

  • @Kefkadet

    TerraxShadow. I ship it!

  • i thought they used gil XD how is it they know of nickels? o_o

  • He'd slit his mamas throat for a nickel!

  • Shadow always reminded me more of a cowboy/wild west kind of guy than a ninja. Not that ninjas aren't cool, but even his theme has a western feel to it!

  • @Th3Skull3r

yeah, he really wasn't much of a ninja lol.

hell Sabin was throwing around Aurabolts that looked like kamehameha's

    locke was stealing shit

cyan was swinging that katana like a madman

and shadow threw shit at people.

I still got love for this Ninja though, and this remix!

    sick beat, Peace

  • *pats Edge* I'm sorry, dude, he has his own theme.

    ... Also, you're an high-visible ninja.

    GOD I love this remix!

  • Shadow is a true ninja, screw Yuffie and Rikku!

    Shadow's my 2nd favorite FF6 character, 1st being Sabin

  • Greatest Final Fantasy ever. After this one they all sucked!

This is the only game where the bad guy wins twice!

  • @johnnytable2 what do you mean twice?

  • I heard his slit his own mother's throat for a nickel.

  • umm, am i the only one who thinks this remix is crap?

  • @g0ing2n0where Yes.

  • He'd slit his mama's throat for a nickel!

  • Slander Shadow and he doesn't care. Slander Locke and he'll rip your lungs out.

My opinion is that Clyde was Locke's "friend" that was jailed when they were orphans together. Of course Clyde escaped and was on the run only to fall into deeper trouble. A year later he abandoned Relm and shrouded his identity in shadow.

Under lock and shadow resides the past.

  • >_< no, not so depressing... its supposed to be kind of Clint Eastwoody.. cheesy n campy yet mysterious.. I used to whistle the original for hours on end and dumb asses who wouldnt understand made fun of me at school (not that it bothered or stopped me)

  • Where's a crummy FF song?

  • Shadow, why are you just standing there?! We're gonna miss the airship!

  • @ff3player that was an enhanced port, it doesn't fall under remake standards

  • 9 people are going to get killed by their own best friend... For the right price.

  • That's SHADOW! He'd slit his mama's throat for a nickle...

  • Is this on a guitar?

  • all i gotta say is: sleep around at every inn you possibly can with shadow in your group. you'll see their story unravel.

  • The real reason Shadow never takes his mask off is because.... Relm glued it to his face when she was little! :D

  • @BLBDart thank you captain obvious

  • Comment removed

  • badass

  • Where can I get the mp3?

  • Epic.

  • "He comes and goes like the wind, swearing allegiance to no one. Hidden behind his wintry gaze lies a face known to none who live..."

  • There is a loneliness to Shadow's theme.

But it's an acid edged loneliness. He is dangerous and mysterious but sad and regretful.

    Song is perfect for him.

  • For a ninja shadow has an awesome western theme.

  • Total slaughter...

    Total slaughter...

    I won't leave... a single man alive

    La de da de dai.

    Genocide

    La de da de duh

    An ocean of blood.

Oh shit sorry that was vash the stampede, but the characters are kind of similar in the fact they're portrays as ruthless drifters.

  • When in actuality they're both not nearly as dreaded and sadistic as they're thought to be.

Well then again shadow still might slit his mother's throat for a nickle. =x

  • Final Fantasy VI had the best ensemble cast of characters ever seen in gaming history, with Shadow being among the best!

  • I just hated his randomly leaving the party when he's needed the most.

I loved the character intros in the game.

  • Best final fantasy game ever, best story poor graphics, this one deserves a remake!

  • but yano whose gonna get that remake instead * clears throat * ... The MOMMAS BOY ! The Mommas boy and his litle crew of misfit remakes , ooooo a One Winged Angel . Well I'll tell you what he can do with that wing , he can go fly himself in circles ! Homosexual Circles at that HAHAHAHAHA

  • @JbCrosell Actually, the graphics are pretty good for the time it was made, 16-bit consoles can't do wonders. In my opinion it looks better than FF7 atleast, early 3d graphics are just somehow annoying to look at...

  • @JbCrosell

When it came out those graphics were AWESOME! lol I wanted to cry the first time I played it. ;p

  • @JbCrosell If by "poor graphics" you mean "badass for it's time" then I'll forgive you...

  • @JbCrosell I agree with the remake part though :D

  • @mogthemoogle160

Offcourse, those graphics where good for it's time.

But now! we want voices and ff13 graphics!!! :o

Kefka needs to keep his laugh though. o.O

  • @JbCrosell they did remake the final fantasy 6 in 2007 on the GBA

  • @JbCrosell I can't think of a game that makes use of the SNES' 16-bit graphics better than FF6. Look at the intricate detail in the environments! Beautiful for what they were working with.

  • @JbCrosell I completely agree. A remake would be amazing.

  • @JbCrosell The geaphics are awesome, in a retro sense

  • @JbCrosell

It was all timing. FF3/6 will never be able to capture new audiences in the sprite graphics mode. But I agree. on the re-make.

  • @gomgeya I disagree on a remake... if the present day has taught us anything, it's that anything that gets remade now will end up horrible. You, I, and everyone here knows that if capcom made a remake, the first thing they'd do is try and make it more.... modern... Yes boys and girls, it is possible to break something good, trying to fix it when it's fine as it is. As for the sprites... hell, some sprite games back then still stand taller then most HD, OMG THEY ARE SO REAL, 3D graphics now.

  • @JbCrosell

for past standards, the graphics were good.

  • @CaptainObvious0000 amzing even, I still think they're amazing.

  • @JbCrosell in 3 dimensions :D just like final fantasy 10. that would be epic... just saying

  • @JbCrosell I second that.

  • @JbCrosell oh, come on, it's made for SNES, it was pretty good graphics for an SNES game

  • He comes and goes like the wind, swearing allegiance to no one. Hidden behind his wintry gaze lies a face known to none who live...

  • @DestructorKoopa "The Dog eats strangers."

  • Is this on a album i can buy?

  • Now, the theme sounds ninja

  • @Bastik42 To be honest, I would say its more of a mix of a ninja/cowboy theme

  • Awesome! I loved this remixed version. The middle of the track has an ominous air about it. It almost gave me the chills. I even like the character artwork you chose for the display. Thanks for posting this

  • 1:32 to 1:48: Badass

The great ninja of all, he just kick the ass of ryu hayabusa.

  • Sorry but Ryu HAs No Equal not even Joe Musashi (This is coming from a huge FF Fan whose fave game in the series is FF6 and a fan of shadows as Well)

  • hmm, I respect your opinion ^^

but Ryu cut's hi's mama throat for a nickel?

    lol, that's badass for sure.

  • true lol. Then again Shadow didnt turn out so heasrtless either did he...

  • NOONE Does it better than Ryu not even Shadow!

  • god this sounds so nice ot my ears =)

  • This music reminds me of Diablo.

  • You know, My favorite character was Gau, his ability to copy ALL monsters in the game was very cool to me

  • Well, All monsters in the land you first got him in. Once you left that island place, that was it.

  • The Veldt

  • Gau can't copy all monster in the game... just the Veldt Monsters. There are a lot of monsters on the Veldt, but it's nothing compared to the amount in the whole game.

My favorites are Setzer, Mog, ang Gogo. Fixed Dice, Jump (w/spear), and the ability to use every skill in the game... win.

  • i also remember myself giving megalixir to magic pot in ff7 for hours hours hours and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz all characters final attack to master eccept the last one :P what a geek child life shame to my mom

  • best character is cyan... i dont remember exactly if it was 4 or 8 hit attack but this attack was the strongest of the game ... i remember myself fighting dynosaur in a little forest for hour and hour and hour and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • youe right i fought in that forest to . was a good place to build up you guys ex level after countless battles it gave you something and i to used it on cyan......man his attack was bad ass. cant think of the name of the item.....what a good game

  • Tyranosaurs give you like Imps Armor and the Brachosaurs can give you economizer relics. The other cool place to level up is the desert south of the Southern most town where the Hoover and Cactrots are. Cactrot gave 10,000 gil and 10 MP points.

  • Genji Gloves + X-Fight(dunno what item from anymore) + Sabin = everything is dead

  • The offering, in the SNES, and PS1. Master's Scroll in GBA. But yeah, equip that to Setzer with Fixed Dice, and insta kill everything. =D

  • If you waste a genji glove and offering on Sabin you're wasting a good character. Offering + genji glove goes to Locke, Shadow uses throw stocked up on tact stars, and Sabin uses blitz, have Celes heal or use runic sword if your enemies are magic based.

  • Genji glove + offering + impartisans + Gau + Stray Cat rage = win combo.

  • But that deals a ton less damage than Genji Gloves and offering. Even phantom Rush.

  • The game is easy enough with out purposefully breaking it.

  • Yep I'm doing that now. 8 for whatever reasons is weaker than 4. And Dispatch 1 would be his strongest it seems unless you use 'retort' his #2 and wait.

  • Third best caracter of the game, first is Tina, second Locke

  • hmmmmm

i wouldnt say tina even though she is cool. mine is Locke sabin then shadow :)

  • He would slit his mother's fucking neck for a GP... Sounds about right XD!

  • When was Shadow jailed..?

  • They left a lot unsaid.

There were so many gaps in FF6, and it still turned out to be a great game.

Imagine if they filled in the blanks. :)

  • I let him...die! T_T

  • you suck!

You never bothered to replay the game to save his ass?

  • therefore, the Ninja portrayal of Shadow's character, i.e. the lack of emotion, or element of darkness fitted the Ninja persona perfectly.

  • I would agree with you there.

  • Locke and Shadow.

    Locke and Clyde.

The names just fit together really easily.

And has anyone come up with an explanation for Locke's reasons to go with Celes to infiltrate Vector, the Imperial Capital.

"Someone important to me was jailed by the Empire. I've hated the Empire ever since... I joined the Returners when I realized the

Empire was rotten to the core. I wanted to make a difference."

SOMEONE IMPORTANT=JAILED, not killed, not injured, JAILED.

My theory is; Shadow is Locke's brother

  • I remember Locke saying that and

never really thought who could it be.

  • Shadow's reason for selling his services to the empire are somewhat vague. The rumor that he would slit his momma's throat for a nickle was just a rumor.

He deliberately spread that rumor himself.

*He would* is an obvious assumption and makes people give him the benifit of the doubt..

*He did* would have been either true or slander. Cuz if he did slit his momma's throat for a nickle, he wouldn't be doing business at all.

Do you think he would let someone SLANDER his reputation?

  • Furthermore!

Think about Locke's reasons for not telling who it was that was jailed by the empire?

Maybe he knew Clyde was a thief, and didn't want people to think of him as a thief?

Shadow may have been the reason Locke prefers treasure hunter. Because it sounds more heroic than criminal.

Therefore, he must have been ashamed of this "important person" but still loved him.

Maybe Shadow was like Robin hood, but got caught. 1 million GP's stolen back from the Empire. :) People fear the empire

  • this is in regards to veriden22's comment. your 1A. isnt quite right, although sometimes the drive of a ninja was yes for greed, however. Something most people dont know is that ninjas were in fact samurai, which as u know were very VERY honorable, the reason for the ninja would be like a spec ops member to our military. the lords of the time were simply put warmongers, there for certain tasks needed to be preformed, without fear of compromising there lord.

  • NInjas were typically not Samurai man. If you read about it, you'd know that Ninja were typically made up of the peasant population. They were not born of nobility as the Samurais were. True, some Samurai's practice ninjutsu, however this was not too common. The shogunates would regularly hire the Ninja to carry out unconventional missions that were deemed dishonorable to the Samurai/Bushido way of life.

  • The entire game was basically the COMMON AND INDEPENDENT PEOPLE vs the EMPIRE, which was composed of Nobles, Aristocrats, Warmongers, and Scientists that wanted to subjugate everyone.

Cid was probably the only scientist and Celes the only General of which defected to the returners. Everyone else was still Imperial...which wanted to subjugate everyone.

  • I have not done the research on ninjas myself, but I know that the Ronin were former Samurai.

  • I wonder why they threw away their titles.

    Maybe they were good people?

I have always hated the nobles and upper classes. Well. Not all the upper class. Primarily the one's that use their power politically and violently in order to subjugate everyone else.

  • I think the original Western version is more fitting for reasons already stated. Still, I like this mix. Got a haunting appeal to it...

  • I think the guitar tuning was intentional... it has a dissonant sound to it.

  • I think this mix is more fitting for shadow because like someone said it is less country western and more zen like, but the guitar is out of tune starting at 0:56 which I find incredibly annoying. They need to re-record the guitar, or get a pitch shifting plugin.

  • Wonderful.

  • this is an awesome remix, sounds quite different. added to my favourites

  • I never liked Shadow for some reason. Whenever I had to deal with him in the game I was always annoyed and I usually avoided getting him in my party.

  • I agree with you, the western sound of the original is BY FAR better, but I believe the mystic sound of this one (even hen flooded by the background sounds) gives its own rightful place.

  • Well shadow is a ninja, not a country western hero. I never understood why they chose that theme for him.

  • The reason (I believe) that Shadow's theme as some qualities of that western twang is because if you know his history, he was a train robber with one of his burglar counterparts. Train robbers have typically been seen as a western symbol, so his theme is actually quite fitting.

  • Yeah I definitely agree.

  • Actually, no Shadow is NOT a ninja he is a mercenary it clearly states that the first time you see him in the game. His JOB CLASS is ninja because of his abilities but in FF games JOB CLASS never has any affect on one's personality. And it is as Megamantheory said about train robbers. Also the song indicates lonliness more than thing else which is part of who shadow is because what he had lost in his life and what he has done.

  • Also, what kind of eastern person would name their child Clyde? Which is a big western name. So in conclussion, Shadow/Clyde is western based, just because you know ninja arts does not make you from the east...in the famous words of Tyler Durden: "Sticking feathers up your butt doesn't make you a chicken."

  • Megamantheory is probably right that the train robbing aspect of his backstory was the reason for the western-style theme. They probably named him Clyde after Bonnie and Clyde. But the game does refer to him as a ninja and he definitely looks like one, so I still think they should have made it more ninja/zen like.

  • Alright, take this in a different perspective.

1A.) Ninjas were not known of Zen they were assassins with out honor to be seen but worked for the greed of Lords

1B.) Mercs also work for money to appease the greed in themselves by appeasing the greed in their employers, which is the same thing as 1A.

2.) Dressing like a ninja does not make you a ninja, he wears what he does to hide his identity and also to optimize his chances of remaining unseen in dark areas. Have the right tools for the job

  • Well, in my opinion dressing like a ninja does make you a ninja. Besides, the game calls him a ninja. Copy and paste this in the YouTube search:

Final Fantasy III (6) Story - Part 7

and look at 0:25. It says ninja right there.

  • So if I was to don a army beret I'd instantly be part of the green berets just because I dress like one?

  • If there was some RPG character that looked like a Green Beret, I would expect him to have a military-style theme.

  • Because he is a country western character?

His name is Clyde, he used to rob trains, he has a Doberman, he's a merc, he doesn't at all have any ninja qualities except his attire.

  • Except the most important quality which you forgot, his class. Locke is a thief. Shadow is a ninja.

  • AHEM!

    Locke is not a thief.

    He is a Treasure Hunter.

  • lol...good one.

  • Hell yeah.

  • Correction

He is a Travel Worn Adventurer searching the world over, for relics of the past.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes he does. He throws shurikens, he's secretive, and he uses swords. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any western outlaw ever robbed a train with a Katana blade and a pouch of ninja stars.

  • Touche

  • Shadow was not a Ninja during his time as a train robber. He was not even known as Shadow. If anything, it would probably be more appropriate to label him as a thief or a brigand.

  • You're right, I was just being fecicious.

  • technically he WAS called shadow. that was the group name he and Baram used.

  • Strongbad, who argued that he wasn't called Shadow?

  • you. "He was not even known as Shadow."

  • I was referring to him personally. I'm not even sure what my original comment was in reference to, but I am aware of the name "Shadow" that Clyde and Baram had used for their team.

  • He never used Katana's.

    Only Dirks.

the Kodachi is basically a Dirk. And that was the only Japanese blade he ever used.

  • He almost only used Ninja Swords, or wakazachi's. Sasuke's Blade, Oborozuki, these are all crossed over Ninja swords from Final Fantasy.

    Cyan uses Katana's.

  • I played the original.

None of those names were ever used for Shadow's weapons.

In the original, Cyan's weapon limit was to the Knife*.

I know what I am talking about.

Yes, I would call it a Katana, but seriously, that's not what the original game says. :)

It's obvious that I don't really like the FF6 Advanced version. Yes, there were some good changes, but overall, they turned it into a japanophilia game.

And we all know that FF isn't about Japan cramming it's culture down people's throats.

  • I'm sorry for your retardedness then, but you would really trick yourself into believing that Cyan was fighting with KNIVES the whole time? He was obviously a Samurai, and he obviously used Katana, and even fans of the original could see that something was totally fucked up in the translation. I'm also sorry for you hating the Advanced version, simply because the nation that originally MADE the game, have like Two characters, which only vaguely refference their culture through their weapons.

  • It's a fantasy you ass terrorist. DID YOU NOT READ "Yes, I would call it a Katana, but seriously, that's not what the original game says. :)" Those so called "translation errors" and convenient changes were part of the game. "Son of a Submariner!" "He'd slit his mama's throat for a nickle" BOTH ARE CLASSIC Remove your idiotic response to me and take my sarcasm with a grain of salt. We both love FF6. Don't ruin it by being a jackass to fellow fans. ff7 fans already piss most people off.
  • Well, it's a difference of opinion then!

Personally I believed the Advanced remake made the game richer for the experience.

"He'd kill his best friend for the right price..." sounds more 'Edgar' to me than the other line.
