  • Looks like majority of these came from ideas from Last Exile.

  • @Jaket2000

I can't speak for the various artists, Jaket2000. It wouldn't surprise me if the anime inspired a few of them.

  • @Payne43 yeah, but I like the concept of retro-futuristic genera in totality. Though I still wonder where my sentient robot/280ZX is at or my own personal space needle.

  • so.....beatiful......(sheds tear)

  • Lol totally disagree that Dieselpunk is the next step for Steam or Cyberpunk. Diesel is supposed to be the new name for Rockabilly. You're claiming all three genres into one. Both Steam and cyberpunk have seperate followings. Who am i to suggest this? Well 0_x....

  • @comwedge I've been very involved in Dieselpunk and have never seen anything that would say that Diesel is a new name for Rockabilly. Rockabilly was an early form of Rock in Roll through the fusion of swing music with country (what was then called "hillbilly") and is more appropriately associated with the 1950s. Diesel covers the era of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s so it pre-dates Rockabilly and Rock in Roll.

  • @comwedge I Agree with you on this, no transitions between the 3 here, though im into classic and retro cars and personaly own a 49, thats just about all i like of dieselpunk, the look of some of the cars, i much prefer the relm of steampunk

  • @comwedge well in a steampuk earth the next step of fashion and engeenering would have to be dieselpunk and eventually cyberpunk... they are different in style but they share the same context.

  • Woah, what is this song?!

  • @ThePippers The song is Minnie the Moocher. It was originally recorded by Cab Calloway in 1931. The version for the video was recorded by Wolfgang Parker. It's from his Petty Standards CD.

  • Excellent question, trumbachd1. I'm not sure that there's a solid answer. I understand most Steampunks claim the Edwardian Era up to WWI. One alternative answer is that it's a transitional no-man's land (to borrow a WWI term) that, depending on what attributes one wants to emphasize, it can be either Steampunk or Dieselpunk.

  • but:

where does the Edwardian Era (1901-1910) fit in?

would Art, Fashion and Science Fiction based on Edwardian sources be better grouped in with Steampunk or dieselpunk?

  • I agree that Dieselpunk is the logical step from Steampunk and ultimately Cyberpunk.

  • dieselpunk is the next plausible step after steampunk, and then probably windpunk, followed by cyberpunk.

  • @geckorus10 Nuclear Punk?

  • ohhh a rock version of cab calloways minnie the moocher :D damn ^^

  • A fantastic collection, I follow a few of these artists on DeviantArt. In addition, I don't suppose you could inform me as to who performed this cover?

  • Thanks newcagliostro!

  • hello i've found your video very interesting and used it to illustrate my blog article "what is steampunk"
