  • Gimme Some More

  • the disklike button is bigger than justin biebers dick :D

  • This song drew me in right away. Today, the whole class was chatting away, as usual and then as soon as these opening credits started, it went silent.

  • Oh.. Saul Bass.

  • This is a film about a psychotic individual, the titles are a bunch of lines moving up and down. No relation what so ever. How is it so brilliant?

  • @drno62 That's your interpretation.. I suppose for you it'd be the fact that (to you) lines have nothing to do with a pyschotic individual.

For me, it's a great title sequence, and I can't put my finger on it. It's just like the Dr. No title sequence with dots.

  • @drno62 you should check out who made the psycho intro (saul bass) and also how this was different from other opening scenes. it was actually pretty revolutionary.

  • Every version of the Psycho prelude can't match Herrmann's. His take just has this immediacy, abruptness and sharp feeling that no version has been able to touch.

  • nice movie

  • My little sister: "This movie had very good music."

    X)

  • the graphic design was great but the music hit it out of the park....

  • yes!

    please upload!

  • At those opening chords or whatever they are, I feel like this movie's grabbed me by the collar and it's not going to let go until it's good and ready.

  • @jaytlr9 Bb minor/Major 7th chords, in case you wanted to know.

  • yea this was sampled for busta rhymes. so dope

  • haha just noticed that Busta Rhymes "gimme some more" uses the same background track as this :L

  • Wow, for 1960 these credits are pretty fantastic, and 51 years later they havent dated at all.

  • @morgansifer Mmhmm. Title sequences nowadays are all flashy CGI and uninspired.

  • If you feel like uploading it go for it!

  • Upload this MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Creative opening credits!

  • Greatest opening credits ever. (Like if you agree,)

  • @HayduMan1 I love Psycho and hitchcock, i try and include a little bit of hitchcock in the films i make, but the greatest opening credits ever is for catch me if you can

  • "Yeah As a shorty playing in the front yard of the crib Fell down, and I bumped my head...."

    Bus-A-Bus!!!

  • This music is SCARY

  • please do. i can't find it anywhere!

  • Nothing beats that - its a shame it didn't continue for about 20 more seconds. its how the title design and the camera shot moving to the blinds blend so beautifully.

  • Is it just me, or does the music sound almost similar to the Friday the 13th theme?

  • @killer92173 Probably because they ripped Herrmann off.

  • please upload this! =D

  • Pure perfection

  • hi yes i would like a copy of this thanks.cm69buddy

  • yes i would like this movie i cant get a copy of this. thanks cm 69 buddy

  • Upload the whole thing. The top comment says you should support it and buy it, but all those people you'd wanna support are probably dead now. This is a '60 film.

  • If nobody told you, and you were watching this film for the first time, up until you first saw Norman Bates, who did you think wasgoing to be the psycho of the title? Marion Crane? Or perhaps her boyfriend or even her boss? That's one of the reasons this film's so good, because there's even a good story before we meet Norman and "mother".

  • please upload it!

  • i still can't believe that this was based on the mental killer Ed Gein.

  • Saul Bass LOL

  • I never said this was jerry gold smith I was just saying I like Jerry goldsmith

  • @eddievanpenis

    It's supposed to.

  • Anyone else noticed that only the writing of "Psycho" in the beginning and

"Alfred Hitchcock" at the end gets distorted?

  • want the movie to, pretty please.

  • oooh busta rhymes sample at 0:33 - 0:39 :D gimme some more ?

gotta love old title tracks :)

  • Jerry Goldsmith was the man

  • @chism26 He was. However, this theme is by Bernard Herrmann. :)

  • Stunning credits- from the "Paramount Release" TV screen logo (since Hitch was doing his television show at the time and had that crew produce this film) to the apprehensive horizontal titles darting back and forth. I saw this in a classic movie house years ago, and when the names of "Saul Bass," "Bernard Herrmann," and, of course, the director appeared on screen, the place went wild. with applause. Cheers.

  • definitely upload!!!!!!!

  • @kingjohntheman cheap idiot

  • @360Rod0 wait, why do you care about protecting Paramount profits so much? Are you getting screwed in the ass by some media exec?

  • @kingjohntheman you have made it clear your quite narrow minded considering you make insults at someone who is obeying the law. Anyone who knows anything about this film is that Paramount doesn't earn any money from its release as its own by Universal Studios. Get your facts right and maybe start reading on the laws of copyright before you make assertions.

  • lol all these comments are nuts.

  • Don't upload it. It's not that hard to find and it's good enough that you should fork over the fifteen bucks and buy it. My library has like four copies.

  • @smallredrocks $5 at my videostore.

  • @smallredrocks Right! I got a tape in my local charity shop for 50pence/cents!

    ;-)

    --

  • upload it

  • Fuck yahoo!

    Yahoo fuck pornosite.

  • sle0fRed - - are you seriously for real? how about you shut the F*ck up? yeah? you dont no how many video stores and shops i have been to looking for this, learn a lesson if life, dont make assumptions!

  • @TaEmLa You're a liar, frankly. There's no way you've been to more than one place looking for this movie and not found it. That's ridiculous, and nobody's buying the story. Failing all else, it's on Netflix and Amazon. Just learn to live with the fact that you don't have the right to own things for free.

  • @TaEmLa you do not make a convincing argument. so shut the fuck up liar

  • sle0fRed - - are you seriously for real? how about you shut the F*ck up? yeah? you dont no how many video stores and shops i have been to looking for this, learn a lesson if life, dont make assumptions!

  • @TaEmLa learn to spell. By the way, this film isnt a rare film so finding it in the stores wont be hard.

  • Anyone else notice that Saul Bass's title was the only one that went in the opposite direction the other lines

  • @brandong123

    Thanks

  • Perhaps the biggest opening of a film's story It is revealing of what's to come ... It is REMARKABLE!

  • Busta rhyyyyyyyms nigaaaaaaaa

  • APOCALYPTICA playing this theme would be AWESOME

  • Slice and dice...

  • Upload it! Upload it upload it upload it!

  • Saul Bass was a genius.I wish Title design was as awe-inspiring today as it was during his time.

  • @sugreev2001 And it works so well because Bernard Herrmann was also a genius.

  • Great homeage to this film

Put psycho animal in the search on youtube and its the fifth video

  • i hate these titles. i feel stressed from the first second with the damn violins and whatnot.

i know that's the point, but god you dont even need to see the movie youre messed up before it starts - my jaw is totally clenched....

  • Counting book author Robert Bloch, I counted 33 names to make one of the greatest horror films of all time. Compare that the hundreds of technicians and computers needed to make junk like Transformers and Yogi Bear today.

  • @r5t6y7u8 Hitchcock made this with the crew from his TV show and about a million dollars. Even more impressive.

  • Hell yeah, Saul Bass! Pioneer of kinetic typography.

  • Gimme Some More of this Song...Get It?

  • This movie proved that a movie doesn't have to have a multi-million dollar budget to be great. I think this movie's budget was less than a million dollars.

  • JUST PERFECT !!!!

  • Does anyone know the font that Saul Bass used for the Psycho opening sequence?

  • @Filmdude2001

It looks like one of the Gill Sans family.

  • Possibly the greatest film ever made. Stunning from the first second to the last.

  • Come on it's obvious that "Psycho" is the greatest thriller ever made!

  • how would you feel if someone took your movie and had it avaible to download with you getting and respect or compinsations. even if the film is a masterpecie, you yourself will not be credited

  • There I said it and I think after 30 years no later the copyright should be lifted in lest its been renewed sence 30 years is a long time half of the people who made the movie would most likely be dead by then or close to it. There I stated my point.

  • @cartoonfan29 i disagree to both your points. With the first statement, films that are remade, if there for profit of anykind, they must pay certian fees for it to be done, fan films or parodies can get away but they cannot have certian items that tie it to the original source. to your second point, the copyright stands at 50years for a reason, and if the owners choose to renew the contract, its another 50years added. so frankly films that you may want up on youtube cannot be allowed

  • Fuck you youtube sence when is it a bad thing to post a movie so people can see it but every time someone post a movie it gets deleted due to copyright issue. I dont belive in copyrights for one reson they dont protect the movies at all I mean look at all these movies that have copyrights but still get remade and showed in other movies with out asking. But there is nothing wrong with showing a movie only time they can take the movie off youtube is if you take creddit for making the movie.

  • @cartoonfan29 copyright exsist for a reason, frankly what is so wrong with just buying or renting the dvd or bluray. it cost next to nothing, the quailty is milestones better than the youtube or any downloading site compression rates.

  • slice and dice...great graphics

  • The greatest opening in horror movie history. It lends the idea of the fractured and distorted personalities that will be portrayed throughout the film. Amazing. Hermann was a genius.

  • The greatest opening in horror movie history. It lends the idea of the fractured and distorted personalities that will be portrayed throughout the film. Amazing.

  • is this the pal verson as it seems speed up

cos the bluray version runs at 2.28

  • I want the embedded dick

  • wow the music sounds old but still awsome

  • Gah I just LOVE this song. I just finished Psycho in my tv/film lit class and it was sooo good. My jaw dropped at the last like 6 min of the movie haha. We're going 2 start prt 2 on Monday :)

  • the intro is very similar to vivaldi's winter

  • The splits in the intro refer to the split personality of a certain person....

  • Just watched this today in class. Glorious movie. Title sequence is epic. Music is masterful. Wow.

  • I love how the lines cutting across the screen represent the split personality of Norman Bates... beautiful film making !

  • just an average HITCHCOCK film, but more suspense!

  • this song is amazing! The intro is my favorite ever.

  • the song justs ends chills down your spine.....the master of suspense.

  • Hitchcock at his pinnacle. All filmed by a TV crew on a cheap budget. The sickest musical score ever in a horror movie. My older brother would go out of his way to make sure this movie was on when they would show it on late night commercial television just to scare the crap out of me. Fifty years later, still retains its impact.

  • Amazing. Downtown Phoenix in 1960. Scary to think that lived right on the corner of Fillmore and 1st Street. And then moved to Geary and Powell in San Francisco where the opening of The Birds takes place. Is there a connection here?

  • Bernard Herrmann did an excellent soundtrack!

  • Bernard Hermann rocks!

  • such a memorable opening sequence

  • I need this movie for my class assignment, so if you could upload it, it would help me heaps :)

  • Matt Bianco.

  • The grandfather of the slasher genre.

  • omg this is my favorite movie ever!!

  • The movie will be playing at the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco with the symphony doing the music live to the movie!

  • @bisnagaboy that sounds awesome

  • my grandmother said when she was a teenager and went to see this for the first time in the movie theaters people actually ran out of the theater from this music it was to much for them from the start lol!!!! AMAZING...of course its hitchcock =)

  • Imagine what this would have been like in a large movie theater - very "nerving" which I'm sure is the intention!

  • Please download this movie!!!!!!!!! I've been trying to search for it on youtube!!!

  • I've heard other versions of psycho opening and I hate it when it's really slow. This is the only one that's really good.

  • Me too!

  • @Ihope: Very good choice. Best part of the entire film, because it speaks volumes in more ways than one. Here's a hint: Look at the placement of the birds in each shot.

  • I love the music.

  • Please upload it!

  • @monkeyqueen0715 I Have! Go See now!

  • It would be awesome if you could upload this movie, or at least just the parlor scene when Norman gives Marion dinner right before he murders her. I am writing a paper on it

  • Hearing this music still gives me chills. :)

  • Psycho is not Hitchcock's best (that's Vertigo) but it surely is his most iconic work and perhaps the film with the most modern appeal.

  • the great, subtle way that the credits portray the split personality of bates is the thing that makes this movie even better than it already is. the credits are literally splitting just like norman's personality-and the movie is too, in a sense, since the first half about marian is barely important and the second is about norman . wow, this is just plain great.

  • @videorater98 Heh, did you also notice how Hitchcock's name also split?

  • LiNK_LiNK: THAT 70s SHoW !!!

  • The greatest openeing credits for the greatest horror movie in the hisitory of cinema.

  • just saw it at 'retrolove movies' creepy :S i dont know if ill be able to sleep tonight...

  • upload it PLEASE!!!!

  • this movie is all about MURDER!!!!!!!

  • I wish this recording were available commercially. The recordings that are available on the various vinyl/CD releases of the Psycho soundtrack are positively wimpy by comparison, played much more gently and at at a slower tempo, lacking the same aggression. This version is like being stabbed in the shower. I wonder what Herrmann told the string section to get that sound out of them. It sounds as if the bows are going to saw right through their instruments.

  • @thatentrenchingtool

I agree with you about the various re-recordings... the one by Herrmann in the 70s is definitely slower (which is odd because he was the composer, you'd think he would get it right...) and the one by Joel McNeely is the correct tempo but it lacks the ferocity of the original recording. I have often wondered why there was no official soundtrack release of Psycho.

  • 0h this is a CLASSIC! and i'm making like a toy movie of this it's gonna be a full movie swear 2 god in blk & wht and whoever gonna see will be sastisyed(is tht how u spell it)

  • The style and music of Psycho's openning seem ahead of it's time.

  • Can you upload the movie please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best horror film there will ever be!!!!!!!!! This version is way better than that shitty vince vaughn version

  • Its actualy pretty creepy! The violin just gives you the shivers doesn't it!

  • The off-beat pizzicato following the dotted rhythm is my favorite touch.

  • Do you mean at 1:26? I love that too!

  • Yes! It happens 3 other times as well. Also I think It's masterful how perfectly sinister the celli sound at 1:21 leading into that...and the violas at 1:18... I could just go on and on

  • Ms.Leigh looked sexy in those bras and halfslips.

  • Great opening by saul bass! they more or less copied this sequence for the 1998 remake of psycho! is nothing sacred?!

  • @SteevDragon67

thank you, i am also impressed that I know it ;)

  • Best film opening ever. The way those white lines fade out at the end to show Phoenix is creepy along with that high-pitched violin sound right before it ends. Excellent way to open a movie.

  • @SonnyJamesJefferson I actually like this theme better than the shower scene music, if only because the shower theme is so overused. They're still both great pieces of music, though.
