  • Hi LizzyVVV - I have yet to try to control the kit or record through the USB connection. I have been using audio out only so I am unfamiliar with the Computer controls. Sorry I could not be more helpful here.

  • when i plug in my yamaha dtx950 into my laptop.. it says i dont have a executive control system.. how did you do it?

  • Great Kit,pads are super.

  • I had also asked another youtuber who was playing on a DTX Extreme III if the sound of addictve drums was much better than the module. He said it was MUCH MUCH better. So I thought I'd just check randomly. Here's one eg.

The DTX Extreme III module has been upgraded. It is exactly like the one with the 950k

I think I'm going to get the 550k with 3 DTX toms which will take the price to approx $2600. Then get addictive and get the best of h/w and sound for my budget.

  • Oh. One more question. How loud is the kick drum. I live in an apartment and I'm aware of the tennis ball platform solution. The smaller KP that comes with the DTX550K seemed much quieter than the one you have. Lucky you, that you have a place where noise is not an issue to neighbours.

  • @Bervick I definitely admit that I am lucky! This is the first time that I have been able to play into the night and not disturb my family! The kick seems to be a little louder that the silicone pads but not too much so. I have been thinking about posting a demonstration of the capabilities so perhaps that will be a part of it. Check back in a few weeks! Thanks again!

  • Nice drumming skills you got there Mark. I read another comment of yours on another vid. Since you rated this set highly, what is YOUR personal opinion on sound quality compared to the Roland TD20, TD12 and the Yamaha Dtxtreme III (900 XL) which is discontinued. The module is the same as yours, I believe. But the new silicone pads cost WAY more. Other than feel, can you comment on the sound quality difference with all those sets I mention. Thanks.

  • @Bervick Thank you very much for the compliment! I have tried Roland kits before and while I thought that the feel of the mesh heads was better than the hard rubber pads of most kits, I was not overly impressed with the sounds. Same for the Dtxtreme line (II i think). The sounds on this unit are REALLY impressive through headphones and over a good PA (I used the kit at a 1600 seat theater with great results). Out of the 50 pre programmed kits I have found that I tend to stick with about 8-10.

  • @MFSDrums have you ever tried the 2box drumit 5?
