@mishukzoo if you mean bolt hold open than no. most AK47's do not have bolt catch. but there are some variants that do. like some saiga's have them. remember just because it's not 7.62x39 or 5.45x39 doesn't mean that it's not an ak variant. the saiga 12g is an ak variant.

Nearly all gun stores have them. There is nothing in this vid that indicates its a automatic rifle. That's not really how Spetnaz do the transtion from there AK's to there pistols, what they do is crattle the AK when pull out there secondary weapons and the AK goes into the sling up pistion it would be to stupid the through it on there backs

@ViEtRiCeR You are doing the right thing about dropping the mags, because Russian style is simple: I don't care about the mags if there is some [censored word for bad person] shooting at me. Reloading and shooting him back is the priority.
Two comments though:
Your reloading is about x2 the actual time you should be doing this at. But it is only a matter of practice.
And the second is that your sling transition is not what I have learned: You never take your barrel off the adversary.
@ViEtRiCeR If you couldn't drop 'em on the floor they wouldn't be proper AK mags. With an AK mag you worry more about damaging the floor than damaging the feed lips. Of course airsofters whose mommies won't let them have real AK mags wouldn't know this.

3:25 this is able to be done right with training, but you're supposed to craddle it with your support hand, then you draw with your fire hand and at the same time as you are bringing up your secondary weapon the primary weapon is tossed over the head allowing the sling to hang the weapon off your shoulder.

I always see everyone with chest rigs like what you have, but they all hold less than 4 magazines (Like US Palms line). Whats the purpose of that? To me, it seems like four mags wont last you long in a extended combat scenario which would be the only reason you wear these vests (you expect to see conflict) as I assume no one can conceal carry these. Are these vests designed only for competition or is there something I am missing out on?
That press check would have ejected the round. You pulled the charging handle back too far. pull it back just enough to verify there's a round in the chamber.
@cobainscousin What is a parquet? Those mags are eastern bloc production so I'm pretty sure they're as real as they get. And I don't own any airsoft guns.
@ViEtRiCeR you should. if you had at least an airsoft rifle close to what you have, you could practice shooting human targets without going to prison each time. its what i do. and, the ammo is cheaper.

at the end of your vid, the second switch is done wrong. your cradle the mag of the gun with one arm and second arm gets secondary, once you are pointing secondary at target you can put ak to your back.

Nice. Though when you are checking the ejector slot, you should always do it with the firearm tilted towards the ground and not looking into the slot. That way any spare cartridges still inside will fall onto the floor and won't fly up into your face. Otherwise, very nice dude :)
Nice video. Was wondering how you know when to reload ak i.e. bolt doesn't hold open after last shot like it does on ar15 platform showing you are empty. Do you hear click and then reload but if so how do you know you are empty without checking chamber and simply don't have a poorly seated mag or dud primer?
@GregDavies5 Very good question. There are two schools of thought on how to handle an AK reload/malfunction. Some argue that the AK is reliable enough that a click means the rifle is empty 99.9% of the time. From there you would go straight into a reload and you would clear the type 1 malfunction anyway if there was one.
The other school of thought is that immediate action should be executed after every click, and after the second click, do a reload.

@GregDavies5 There are some mags that have a bolt hold open in that rises into the feedlip and blocks the bolt from continuing forward and leting you know that your empty.
You can also install a lrbho if yo really wanted to.

Would you ever consider doing this with a background for chroma key? Either blue or green, whichever colour isn't used in your clothes and gear? You could probably sell the highest quality version to an image library website, they use that stuff a lot to make games etc, and maybe leave a low res. version for the poor struggling students out there? ;-)
@chiguer100 u can tell it isnt airsoft cause when he pulls back the bolt you can see the gas piston coming out and the bolt goes all the way back to the mechanical limits of the weapon.

AK 47 Jams more often that other weapons, yes it is more accurate that other weapons but it is less maneuverable because of it's size and is harder to reload than shown in this video

I always see everyone with chest rigs like what you have, but they all hold less than 4 magazines (Like US Palms line). Whats the purpose of that? To me, it seems like four mags wont last you long in a extended combat scenario which would be the only reason you wear these vests (you expect to see conflict) as I assume no one can conceal carry these. Are these vests designed only for competition or is there something I am missing out on?

That press check would have ejected the round. You pulled the charging handle back too far. pull it back just enough to verify there's a round in the chamber.
That being said, your reloads were pretty good.

@cobainscousin What is a parquet? Those mags are eastern bloc production so I'm pretty sure they're as real as they get. And I don't own any airsoft guns.

@ViEtRiCeR you should. if you had at least an airsoft rifle close to what you have, you could practice shooting human targets without going to prison each time. its what i do. and, the ammo is cheaper.

at the end of your vid, the second switch is done wrong. your cradle the mag of the gun with one arm and second arm gets secondary, once you are pointing secondary at target you can put ak to your back.

Thanks for the fast response. By the same token, how would you know when to use a forward assist? Is it obvious when the bolt is not sent home or is it a bit of a non issue with the ak?

Nice. Though when you are checking the ejector slot, you should always do it with the firearm tilted towards the ground and not looking into the slot. That way any spare cartridges still inside will fall onto the floor and won't fly up into your face. Otherwise, very nice dude :)

Nice video. Was wondering how you know when to reload ak i.e. bolt doesn't hold open after last shot like it does on ar15 platform showing you are empty. Do you hear click and then reload but if so how do you know you are empty without checking chamber and simply don't have a poorly seated mag or dud primer?

@GregDavies5 Very good question. There are two schools of thought on how to handle an AK reload/malfunction. Some argue that the AK is reliable enough that a click means the rifle is empty 99.9% of the time. From there you would go straight into a reload and you would clear the type 1 malfunction anyway if there was one.
The other school of thought is that immediate action should be executed after every click, and after the second click, do a reload.

@GregDavies5 There are some mags that have a bolt hold open in that rises into the feedlip and blocks the bolt from continuing forward and leting you know that your empty.
You can also install a lrbho if yo really wanted to.

Would you ever consider doing this with a background for chroma key? Either blue or green, whichever colour isn't used in your clothes and gear? You could probably sell the highest quality version to an image library website, they use that stuff a lot to make games etc, and maybe leave a low res. version for the poor struggling students out there? ;-)

@chiguer100 u can tell it isnt airsoft cause when he pulls back the bolt you can see the gas piston coming out and the bolt goes all the way back to the mechanical limits of the weapon.

AK 47 Jams more often that other weapons, yes it is more accurate that other weapons but it is less maneuverable because of it's size and is harder to reload than shown in this video

I remember seeing a vid of a spetznaz doind the change to secondary,he didnt drop his primary,he instead hugged the rifle with his left arm going around the magazine then holding the buttstock,then with his right hand pulled out his pistol(aimed),then he flung his rifle to his back.
