@liveeviltrypios Tough choice but from everything I have read and heard Axon does track better but you need to drive some type of external sound module or plugins via laptop where the Roland does give you their sounds right out of the box.
if you are using the sounds just from the synth, go for the GR20........if you will use the MIDI out, using the keyboardsounds of antoher keyboard, or some soundmodule....go for the AXON.....axon has the better tracking, roland the better sounds :) if you didnt get just ask me again.....
Hello! great video thanks :) im a sibelius user and im considering buying the axon 50 instead.... do i need the axon 100 for sibelius use? ive been told that axon is faster than gi-20 for notation but im on budget...
Hi, from what I understand you can use either the 50 or 100. the 50 is more suited for home studio use and the 100 is for a live rig but both work equally well.
The 100 does not have USB out is one of the big differences but all you need is something like the M Audio Uno 1-In/1-Out USB Bus-Powered MIDI Interface and you will be just fine.
thnx for the MAUDIO idea buddy....i think ill go for that one.....but hey....some ppl complained the axon with USB had some problems with noise... :S do you personllay have it ???
@albanianvirtuoso What I have heard if anything is there may be some noise with the AX50??? One other guy mentioned that but I have the 100 so there is no USB but the M Audio Uno 1 seems to be pretty quiet.
After listening to samples in other places, yes, the Axon is capable of driving some nice sounding VST's. EZGTR, if I were you, I'd re-do this with some better quality samples :-)
if you are for rack stuff go for the motif..ive tried it via midi with a gr20 ....the motif is better thn the roland fantom..i swear.....if u want to blow way everybody with inteligence, go for the WALDORF BLOFELD its a small synthezier module, it kicks ass so bad...its amazing my friend, just amazing...and its so cheap.....you will use that stuff for sounds and not for prograimming like a keyboardist, so save the mony, like i did :D
hi dan, ehm...do you have a tab for this? i want practice other thing cause i´m near to master the canon in d (from beginning to end of chorus)...so, if you have a tab or an ebook, plz reply...
Well as far as I have been told! I have never played through the Roland but from what many of the MIDI guitar pros are saying on the AXON forum is that yes the Roland is extremely quick within itself but the AXON's magic is when you talk to external synths or computers.
I am a bit new to the MIDI game so granted I am no authority but learning as I go...
Wow, Dan, how many channels you have actually ? :)
I think the real speed should not be determined by the built-in sounds, but through MIDI Out, because with built-in sounds, there's no need for converting the tracked pitch into MIDI data first, which of course is much faster than with converting.
Yes, i agree, i too heard AXON way faster than Roland in regards to data that sent to MIDI Out. Roland is known to measure the note period, while AXON works by learning from the attack of the note.
That is true, the AXON has a forward looking technology they call the "Neural Net" which detects pick transients adn the end result is quite amazing to say the least.
Imagine the speed advantage over the 'period' method.. with pick transients detection it can recognize notes as soon as your pick / finger touches the string :) , while with 'period measurement' the note must at least complete a cycle before it can be recognized by measuring the period time..
Yes You may be right, bur for me playing classical guitar and luthe, i sounds not all so right ... but I understand the temptation of playing like that Hahahaha! Keep going on! Best regards from Norway Frank!
I know what you mean but I do find it very fun to live inside the world of a keyboard player for a little bit and getting the guitar to sound like a synth.
I was never really impressed with MIDI guitar for the longest of times due to poor tracking but must admit the Axon has enamored me.
Yes that seems to be the chatter, nothing new there really... the built in sounds are pretty general and for the purpose of this demo I am showcasing what the unit has although the beauty of it is you can trigger your VST's in your computer or your favorite external rack mount sound modules which I plan on doing in future videos...
Yes these are just the general MIDI sounds that the unit offers but you certainly can access VST's and premium sound modules through the MIDI cable. This demo deal exclusively with a selection of sounds straight from the AXON's built-in soundboard.
Hey Dan, this is a kewl presentation, and you always perform well. However I'm not crazy about the preset sounds. Kind of a general midi non-descript kind of thing. How is the editing with this unit. Can you upload your own samples or are you stuck with the on board ROM. At this price point I assume the latter. Is it expandable?
As well if your gtr has a midi out, the VSTi that are available now are far superior in sound quality but do carry a higher price as a result.
Where can I buy this product?

are these AXON ax-100 internal sounds only?
t0nkpi1s 1 year ago
@t0nkpi1s Yes in this case it is - I am demo'ing only the built in General Midi sounds here but the real power is triggering external sounds.

It's all good, the main point of the video was to stay "in the box" but in future videos I will be driving Soft Synths/Virtual Instruments.
I am still looking at some outboard gear like the Motif Rack or a few of the Rolands.
Thanks
