I was glad that chris and lorelai ended up together for awhile--they probably shouldn't have gotten married, but they always went back and forth. I really liked how she said something about how chris was always that possibility--I totally get that, which is probably why i like this scene so much. i like that it played out in a loving/caring sort of way and not an all out fight or something
was i the only one cheering at this point? >.> i'm a complete L/L fan, luke was ALWAYS there for both of them, chris always saw lorelai as an extra added bonus on top of rory. and he always let them down...
but i love lorelai, and i hate that she managed to get hurt again even though this scene is a good thing :(
i know no one else thinks this but i think lorelai needed to be married to chris. she always wondered what would happen if they got together and she'd thought luke wouldn't fight for her and chris was everything luke wasn't. but even when with chris she still wanted to be with luke. i love chris here it proves he really loves her by letting her go <3
@klarebear721 I love her with Chris more I didnt see Luke as a romantic interest. I just dont think they had chemistry on a roantic level. I loved them as friends and that is all.
Before I get flamed by intense java junkie fans let me say I love Lorelai and Luke. I believe 100% that Lorelai and Luke belong together. I love Luke. I love Lorelai. But... I don't understand why fans have to hate Christopher to love Luke. Chris started out immature but he grew a lot during the series. He may have let Rory down but he was good to G.G. and he created a good relationship with Rory in the end. I dont get why people hate on him so much. He didn't deserve to be so hurt.
Lorelai may not have loved Chris like she wanted, but Chris definetly proved his love by being so understanding in this scene; he cares about Lorelai's happiness too; in a different way than Luke maybe, but he deserves serious points here ^^ I ship Luke/Lorelai all the way, but I love Chris in this scene ^^
As we saw in the "its just like riding a bike" episode,Luke does what makes her "happy" because as he stated at the last episode, he likes to see her happy. He doesnt do those things because there is a reward in end.Lorelai couldnt see that till the end that luke doesnt need to yell outloud about how he feels about her, his actions explains it better then anything.Unlike Christopher who does exactly the opposite.it took 3 seasons for her to understand and embrace that.
it doesnt matter if Chris is the father of Rory, he and Lorelai never had a healthy relationship it always started with a hookup and then didnt go anywhere, thats why they never lasted they werent meant to be, Ill admit they do make a cute couple and it makes more sense since he is Rory's dad and Emily and Richard like him its just Lorelai and Chris arent meant to be. she makes more sense with Luke because there was more strong feelings and she did want to marry him
Everyone is having this debate about who was the better man: Chris or Luke? But I don't think its about that. I think its about who Lorelai loves. I think Lorelai always thought she should be with Chris b/c they were a perfect match but the feelings just weren't there like they were for Luke. Whether that's right or wrong I don't know but Luke is the man she loved. I also personally think Luke loved Lorelai. He was quiet and guarded but he showed his feelings in small ways everyday for years.
I will always ship Luke/Lor first; but I never understood why people hated Chris so much. I know he wasn't there for Rory, but why was that? Because Lorelai said no to him! Twice. And also, look how understanding he is in this episode. I think that's love. He may not be the one, but he was still reliable, if you gave him a chance.
Regarding our own preferences we decide who we like the best, either Luke or Chris. There's a big contrast.
I'd prefer a guy like Luke for Lorelei. He's a real man, but nevertheless the most caring about her and Rory, for 10 years or so he alway has been there, never asking for anything in return. There is no episode in which he acts in his own interest, sometimes he even helped without anyone knowing about it. There's no episode without Luke, but Chris appears rarely. Says everything.
I don't agree. Chris is perfect for her. Makes me sad. He doesn't love lorelai or understand her the way chris does, he just tolerates her. Chris is the one that's there for them. No luke is a jerk who doesn't care about anybody but an attractive woman
chris has for 20 years, he loves lorelai. It was their destiny. She just hooked up with luke after the fact. More like sex with an attractive woman, he just tolerates her crazy behavior.
He doesn't tolerate, he loves her and her crazy behavior, its his introverted and grumpy character that makes it seem as if he's "tolerating". How and when does Chris understands a thing during all episodes? He's always the one who leaves in the end while Luke stays.
You don't always show up, help, care, do anything possible for people who you only tolerate. Luke was more like a father than Chris.
I think it was stupid for them to break lorelai and chris up, they have alwyas been an amazing couple and have great chemistry. It would have been prefect if in the end after everything they had them stay together and have more kids. And also to have Rory and Dean get together. I hate that they had Luke and Lorelai hook up, because although he was there for the gilmore girls in the past he started to drift away cause for his stupid daughter. It seems I'm the only one upset about this breakup.

why do you think that? no she doesn't, not for life. Luke is a shallow jerk who lives uabove a diner and has no friends. They have nothing in common. Lorelai and chris were perfect. L/l just friends that became more but was a big mistake. Chris is understanding, luke is not
Chris is nice and comforting for Lorelai in this scene, but I agree with ggaddict1537. It's Luke that was always there for Lorelai and Rory, through and through, no matter what. He is such an amazing person! Lorelai and Luke forever <3
The only way he could've put Gigi through school and gone to France and made a restaurant open at 5 in the morning just for him and Lorelai was because he "got loaded" off his grandfather. Lorelai had nothing. She lived in a potting shed at the inn with Rory for 4 years before she could buy her house. Ok, I think I've made my point that Chris does not know how to be a dad.
If and when you read this, start from the 2 previous comments and work your way up.
I agree w/ ggaddic1537, Chris/Lorelai are nice together but Chris can only be a perfect lover not a dad, he's kind of immature. Luke was always there for the Gilmore girls.
He was a good dad. He's not that immature. Luke is a jerk. Luke is shallow and selfish. Luke just likes attractive women, he had to be nice, and they live in the same town. He has the diner. That is it. Chris was always there for them as well. He was there when it mattered.
@kindaichikijuto I disagree. Chris is a fine dad and even a great dad and was more of a dad to Rory than Luke in all the time on the show that we got a chance to see. I think Luke wasn't even dating Lorelai and didn't have any obligation or reason to be Rory's "dad" while Rory was growing up. He was a nice guy who cared about Rory but Chris didn't do much wrong. Although the writers were inconsistent and confusing sometimes Lorelai acted like Chris was never around but we didn't SEE that.
Luke made this clear in the 100th episode when he says to Chris, "Were you there when she had the chicken pox and could eat nothing but mashed potatoes for a week, or when she graduated high school, or when she started college?" And Chris just stood there, speechless because he wasn't there. He was never there. Luke was always there. That's just what it comes down to. Sure, Chris got a second chance with Gigi, but it's not the same.
Aww. I love this scene. But she's right, Chris has always been "a possibility" , never the one. I'm sorry to rain on your parade but I personally hate Chris. I mean he was always good to Lorelai and always made her happy in some way. But, he didn't know how to be a dad. Luke was always there for Lorelai and Rory. Luke has been much more of a father-figure to Rory than Chris ever was.

i was soo freaken sad christopher and lorelai soo belong together. her and luke never made the "right" couple when they were together. i was so sad when they decided to 1 break up christopher and lorelai and 2 when they made rory say no to logans proposal he was so right with her (srry know its like way off topic but its my opinion)
I also agree. So sad! I say jess not dean. So sad for them, but jess really cares for rory. I know some people hate jess. It's not cuz they have things in common. Or that milo/alexis dated. rory/jess are kind of like lorelai and chris, though chris comes from money and is blonde. Plus they drifted apart in s5, her and dean and the married thing
It's kind of wired when she says... "I want you to know, you are the man I want to want.... You have no idea how badly I wish"... It's like she really doesn't want to be in love with Luke.....?
No, its because Chris was her first love, he is the father of her only child and she knows that in an ideal world it would be perfect to make this little family with Rory and Rory's Dad. Just like her mother always wanted. But her feelings for Luke are too strong.
she didn't want to love Luke because he had hurt her but she couldn't help it she was crazy about him. sometimes it's scary to love someone how has hurt you and you do crazy things but that does not mean you stop loving that person it's just hard
I always rooted for Luke to win her but think about it this way, in ASP's last show, she had her last scenes being Lorelai and Luke breaking up and Lorai and Christopher getting together. Maybe the latter were meant to be? (Saying that, there's always gonna be something about Luke that makes people love him more)
Noooooooo i loved Chris And Lorelai! they worked so much better! I was at first rooting for Luke and Lorelai but then Chris just loved Lorelai so much and they were a perfect couple! Aww mann!
So sad... Lauren just breaks my heart in this scene! And I've always loved Lorelai/Chris more than Lorelai/Luke, even if I'm in the minority. I just see so much chemistry there.
Just my opinion: Lorelai/Chris rocks!! I hate that they never worked out =(
Chris and Lorelai should've ended up together! They were perfect...
I shipped Luke and Lorelai until they became a couple - but they had no couple chemistry (at least IMO), and were bad for each other... When Chris and Lorelai got back together... They were to me, and always will be: Perfect.
I'm sorry to put yet another pro-Luke comment on your vid when clearly you love Chris, but I think that the whole marrying Chris thing was a terrible idea - though I wasn't pleased about the end of season 6, either. Because Lorelai put off the wedding until she delt with her kid and then Luke doesn't get time to find his way with his? Sorry, I'm bitter. Look, I didn't hate Chris, but he and Lorelai were never right, and they wasted the last season on them. Just my opion, though.
It was predictable! She's soooooooo in love with Luke, they're meant to be!!! The title of the episode says everything: Farewell my pet! (I think it's pretty clear that I hate Chris to death =P)...This was absolutely the worst season of the show...I mean, did the authors watch the same show we all watched the previous 6 seasons(maybe 5 and a half)? I mean, what happened to the immature Christopher, to the demoniac GG and most of all to Lorelai? ASP's Lorelai would have never behaved like this...
Wow that was some impressive acting on Lauren Graham's part. I actually teared up, something that never happens when I watch GG. It's a great show but not a tearjerker (at least not for me).
This scene pulls all the ties together. The relationship Loreali/Chris was always rather undefined, somewhat blurry, because the audience never knew how strong Loreali's feelings towards Chris actually were. But here, here they are talking about it and she is so heartbroken because now she is definitely putting an end to any possible relationship in the future with Chris. No maybe-getting-back-together, no affair, nothing. It's a really special key scene and important to the end of the series.
omg this scene has some really great acting. they look so heartbroken i think they are really putting a lot of effort in to that scene.i think lorelai always wanted to be with christopher jsut beacuse he was rory's dad but this scene is her finally realizing that she should've opened her eyes along time ago because luke has been there wating for her this whole time, and she finally realizes that luke would never leave her the way christopher did because he really loves her
As much as I don't like Lorelai and Chris together, Lauren Graham just breaks my heart in this scene. How David is keeping it together I have no idea.
yea i always knew she wanted to be with Chris but it took her awhile to realize that thats not who is right for her anymore, what they had was in the past Luke is right for her now
awe, that's so sad. when she says "you have no idea how badly i wish" it's so telling how sad she is she isn't with Luke. she loves him, but at this point feels it's not a possibility. she's hurting, and wishes there was a way out of it.
i never really liked chris with lorelai. but i always kind of had the feeling that lorelai and luke could never be together until she had some kind of closure. she needed to know that she and chris were for sure never going to work. not because of bad timing but because they just don't work.
so needless to say i was happy about the break up. go lorelai and luke!
This is really one of the saddest moments in Gilmore girls...I just can't describe how much I admire her! Lauren Graham is the best actress o earth!! Go on like this, Lauren!
Even though i didnt like the fact that chris and lorelai were together, i thought that this clip was very sad. all that lorelai admitted to chris was true. chris has always been this relationship that was on the back burner that she wanted to wait until it got hot. yeah it would be nice of rory to have both of her parents together, but too much time has passed and i rly didnt see how they were 2 rekindle all that time missed in just one season of them being married.
Ahh sad! But I'm a java junkie the whole way, so I'm really happy that they broke up, but still such a sad scene! But I think it's good that they ended like friends.
And as "vrefee" says , I agree! It's unbeliveble that Lauren didn't win an Emmy! Just look at this scene as all the other great scenes in GG, SHE'S TOTALLY AMAZING!
i cried so hard, even though i hate chris. i think it was lauren's incredible acting. i can't believe that she didn't get an emmy for that preformance.
why did it take marriage to realize that they weren't meant for each other?!?!?! Why couldn't they realize it BEFORE??? At least she DID end up with Luke...i didn't care that Luke and Lorelai weren't married I just wanted them to be together and they wee!
It's unbelievable Lauren Graham didn't win an Emmy! She did such an amazing job all throughout Gilmore Girls - I seriously don't know why she didn't get it... Wonderful scene though - I'm a Luke-Fan. ;)
im not a chris lover - i love laurelai for luke butno one gives him a chance he would have been there - he tried to be there from the very beginning and laurelai shoved avry1 away i dnt blame her becoz i would have but chris has always been there he just wasnt let 'in'. jeez
ew. i can't stand chris lovers. he was never there for rory, he walked out on lorelai, horrible father, and COMPLETELY self centered. chris loved lorelai, she didn't love him back. end of story. the relationship is over and luke and lorelai are meant to be.
its fucking bullshit- luke is just an oversensitive diner owner who has liked lorelai for ages but ti took ages for him to do something about it chris has always had the guts to go for lorelai shes all he ever wanted. He wanted her while he was with another women she was the first one he turned to when cherie was pregnant and left him and they will alwyas be there for each other. lorelai was a cow for leading him on that way!
I truly disagree. Luke was always there for Rory and Lorelai way more than Chris. So what if it took a while for them to be together. They just didn't want to ruin their friendship if one didn't like the other.
i agree with you it took time but in the end it was worth it, they were always there for each other and in the end they both knew they loved each other
omg i love gilmore girls but this is just heart wrenching i feel so sorry for chris jeez get it right people- no one will ever be good enough for lorelai but chris was the one. he was always there for and still is and he sits there while she's breaking up with him and tells her that he understands and its all right
who died?!?! australia doesn't screen gilmore girls anymore so im relient on youtube for season 7 cause that obviously isn't out on dvd yet. oh my god i need to know!
i love chris he made mistakes in the past but he loves lorelai and to all of you who think she is perfect for luke just coz chris made mistakes in the past.. what are u perfect? he made mistakes but he does love her and i wouldnt wish to anybody to be in his situation.

Because Lorelai put off the wedding until she delt with her kid and then Luke doesn't get time to find his way with his? Sorry, I'm bitter. Look, I didn't hate Chris, but he and Lorelai were never right, and they wasted the last season on them. Just my opion, though.
sweetiepie1019 3 years ago
It was predictable! She's soooooooo in love with Luke, they're meant to be!!! The title of the episode says everything: Farewell my pet! (I think it's pretty clear that I hate Chris to death =P)...This was absolutely the worst season of the show...I mean, did the authors watch the same show we all watched the previous 6 seasons(maybe 5 and a half)? I mean, what happened to the immature Christopher, to the demoniac GG and most of all to Lorelai? ASP's Lorelai would have never behaved like this...
CaterinaCaffeina 3 years ago
Wow that was some impressive acting on Lauren Graham's part. I actually teared up, something that never happens when I watch GG. It's a great show but not a tearjerker (at least not for me).

This scene pulls all the ties together. The relationship Loreali/Chris was always rather undefined, somewhat blurry, because the audience never knew how strong Loreali's feelings towards Chris actually were. But here, here they are talking about it and she is so heartbroken because now she is definitely putting an end to any possible relationship in the future with Chris. No maybe-getting-back-together, no affair, nothing. It's a really special key scene and important to the end of the series.
uemialice 3 years ago 2
omg this scene has some really great acting. they look so heartbroken i think they are really putting a lot of effort in to that scene.i think lorelai always wanted to be with christopher jsut beacuse he was rory's dad but this scene is her finally realizing that she should've opened her eyes along time ago because luke has been there wating for her this whole time, and she finally realizes that luke would never leave her the way christopher did because he really loves her
morgang13 3 years ago 6
omgsh that made me cry. its always does.
i loveeee chris and lorelai together!!
but i also like her and luke, either one is wonderful with her. i dont think one is better then the other.

As much as I don't like Lorelai and Chris together, Lauren Graham just breaks my heart in this scene. How David is keeping it together I have no idea.
wickedcat29 3 years ago
yea i always knew she wanted to be with Chris but it took her awhile to realize that thats not who is right for her anymore, what they had was in the past Luke is right for her now
jorge11234ever 3 years ago
awe, that's so sad. when she says "you have no idea how badly i wish" it's so telling how sad she is she isn't with Luke. she loves him, but at this point feels it's not a possibility. she's hurting, and wishes there was a way out of it.

i never really liked chris with lorelai. but i always kind of had the feeling that lorelai and luke could never be together until she had some kind of closure. she needed to know that she and chris were for sure never going to work. not because of bad timing but because they just don't work.
so needless to say i was happy about the break up. go lorelai and luke!

This is sad scene and I cried, but still I root for Luke and Lorelai so it's kinda happy scene.

Just look at this scene as all the other great scenes in GG, SHE'S TOTALLY AMAZING!
javajunkie4ever 4 years ago 2
i cried so hard, even though i hate chris. i think it was lauren's incredible acting. i can't believe that she didn't get an emmy for that preformance.
evilbunny007 4 years ago
ooohhhh, this is soooo feaking tearjerker!!! can't stop crying especially in the last part... they both deserve to be happy... (((SIGHS))))
snowangel078 4 years ago
The C/L fans had to know they would break up eventually! At least that's what I think. Luke is so much better for Lorelai.
HappilyEverNow07 4 years ago 2
why did it take marriage to realize that they weren't meant for each other?!?!?!

Wonderful scene though - I'm a Luke-Fan. ;)

im not a chris lover - i love laurelai for luke butno one gives him a chance he would have been there - he tried to be there from the very beginning and laurelai shoved avry1 away i dnt blame her becoz i would have but chris has always been there he just wasnt let 'in'. jeez
SweetKissesSo 4 years ago
ew. i can't stand chris lovers. he was never there for rory, he walked out on lorelai, horrible father, and COMPLETELY self centered. chris loved lorelai, she didn't love him back. end of story. the relationship is over and luke and lorelai are meant to be.
evilbunny007 4 years ago
its fucking bullshit- luke is just an oversensitive diner owner who has liked lorelai for ages but ti took ages for him to do something about it chris has always had the guts to go for lorelai shes all he ever wanted. He wanted her while he was with another women she was the first one he turned to when cherie was pregnant and left him and they will alwyas be there for each other. lorelai was a cow for leading him on that way!

♥Luke and Lorelai forever!!!
girly86girl 4 years ago
I truly disagree. Luke was always there for Rory and Lorelai way more than Chris. So what if it took a while for them to be together. They just didn't want to ruin their friendship if one didn't like the other.
KaliNicoleN 3 years ago 2
i agree with you it took time but in the end it was worth it, they were always there for each other and in the end they both knew they loved each other
morgang13 3 years ago 3
omg i love gilmore girls but this is just heart wrenching i feel so sorry for chris jeez get it right people- no one will ever be good enough for lorelai but chris was the one. he was always there for and still is and he sits there while she's breaking up with him and tells her that he understands and its all right

Sad scene.
Lorelai deserves so much better than Chris.
Come on people, you know im right.
Any true fan will agree,
That Chris doesn't deserve Lor
Luke does
And always will.
I can't wait for Lor and Luke to be back together
Because thats how it should be.
End of story.
DeeDeeRamona 5 years ago
a true Gilmore Girls' fan would know that Luke && Lorelai belong together.
and with Chris.
I started to like him. And then he and Lorelai slept together.
and that blew my feelings for him.
I have always been a 100% Luke/Lorelai fan.
and nothing will change that.
They belong together.
and I can't wait for them to get back together.
