Because they fight in an octogon for sport, does not mean that if they get jumped in an alley they would kick the guy's a**. Because when they get poked in they eye, or kicked in the groin, they won't be able to back up and call for a time out.

By far this was the once scene that I would constantly rewind on the video tape back in the day! Yes without a doubt that is a dummy being kicked. A kick that hard and in that area (specifically the temple) would kill anyone that got hit by it and if it somehow didn't kill you, you would have to live the rest of your life with serious brain damage!

most people don't know this but sometimes they had to have bruce lee slow his kicks so you could acutally see it. If you fought him (and of course the would be a terriable idea) you be on the ground before you even knew what happened, he was ridiculously fast and I guarentee if he was in his 30's fighting in the UFC he would be #1. Check out how he trained, bruce lee was fucking intense.

Sorry to correct you, but Helio Gracie was actually doing MMA (mixed martial arts) in brazil in the 50's. Helios fought many full contact anything goes (grappling or standing) fights before bruce lee came up with Jeet Koon Do.

You forget that Jackie Chan was a part of the stunt crew for Enter the Dragon. Jackie did take a hit from Bruce on this movie and had his jaw broken, so he probably was in no mood to risk another injury.

As I said, none of the stuntmen wanted to take the kick, so they used the dummy.

I've been a martial artist for about 17 years now, as well as an avid watcher of martial arts movies, and I must say that this particular kick of Mr Lee's here (from Enter the Dragon) has been the one kick in movie history that has always stuck with me. Something about the camera angle allows you to perceive the sheer force and fury he was able to harness. Classic movie.
