  • I love her singing improv more than other times. She also sang over the rainbow at another event and it is quite impressive! Long live KISSTIN

  • @Shamsithaca She also sang at John Spencer's funeral.

  • Well, that was just freakin awesome.

  • They wasn't a group touring they was in the show for a Christmas episode

  • @elijahrocks101 The song is called "Night and Day," written by one of my all time favorite great American composers, Mr. Cole Porter. :) BTW, the person who commented below you is also me from my other channel AlexHeartsPorter. I bet you can see how much I love his music now... Check him out if you haven't heard of him before! I have lots of great videos of people singing his songs on my AlexHeartsPorter channel.

  • What Song Are They Singing I Love It!!

  • I think she messed up the words once...

  • @Gleek592 Thanks. It seems most of the time when someone has ANY sort of comment about a big star or artist someone sees it as negative and they just say crap like, "well let's see you do it better" or "I don't see your video posted anywhere". Makes me sick.

  • @Gleek592 It's right at the 22 sec mark. Not so much a "gasp" as a really noticeable "push" at the end of the word. Maybe on Broadway they can get away with it, but it's generally not good vocal technique. I know she's one of the best-not saying she isn't. Just thought it was a little odd.

  • Why does she gasp at the end of "day" and "me"??? It sounds really bad.

  • Too short! Not her... I mean this clip. She's adorable!

  • thank you so much for posting this. I am in love with this moment and so happy to have glimpses of the arts being enjoyed by young people. What a rewarding moment.

  • she is an AMERICAN TREASURE!

  • its so beautiful!!! go kristin!!

  • CAQ

  • One of the things YouTube does so wonderfully is a diaspora of joyous moments, and the love of music, the harmony of souls so evident here, is part of what lifts mankind clear of a perpetual humdrum existence. Your generosity in sharing is remarkable.

  • @Alcagaur Wow, well said!

  • that sounds amazing!!!! you got all your group kristin!!!

  • That songs is Cole Porter's, right?

Which was sung by John Barrowman.

  • @hugh0221 righto!

  • she is sooo tiny

  • the choir sounds amazing

  • I was wondering why Kristen was on set since the episode with the Whiffenpoofs was in season 5 and Annabeth wasn't a character until season 6. Then I realized that she was probably on set because of Aaron Sorkin.

  • What does Sorkin have to do with Kristin?

  • it's my understanding they once dated during his stint working on "the west wing"...sorkin's "Harriet" character in that Studio 60 show was loosely based on Kristin

  • @jcotter80 He had already left the show when they started dating I believe. I read her book and it touched on this, but it's been awhile, so I could be a little off. I know for sure he was done writing for the show, but I don't know if he was done working with them completely or not.

  • You're right. Aaron Sorkin had left the show by the time they started dating. He left after the fourth season. Kristin Joined the show in the 6th season. I think they met aroune the time she started on the show from what I remember reading.

  • Sorkin finished after season 4 though. I guess this wasn't the whiffenpoofs?

  • Yeah I think its people form the crew. Oh and thank you for the info, I didn't know they dated. I did know Harriet was based on Kristen though.

  • I vocal group just visiting the set and taking a tour of it.

  • i'm confused, does she just have a man harem of pasty acappella singing interns follow her every where she goes?

  • Haha, no... this was a school choir visiting the set of The West Wing and she agreed to do a little improv with them :)

  • @marianaraay thats nice of her. i love her

  • Lolz! I don't exactly doubt it

  • It wouldn't surprise me in the least! :P

  • @cannonheads And, if she does, how do I go about getting one of those?

  • amazing.

  • omg, at 1:16 I wonder if those boys were shitting themselves that Kristin just decided to sing to them, lol, priceless.

  • its amazing that they pulled this off improv. SHE IS BRILLIANT!!!!

  • wow!

  • The song is from "The Gay Divorce", a 1940's film

  • Night and Day sung by Deanna Durbin in a movie if I remember correctly. Kristin Chenoweth would find a way to make it funny... :)

  • She is so great

  • Fabulous!

  • lol, so random! shes amazing, and theyre amazing :-P

  • She sang at John Specer's funeral. What a great voice.

  • Night and Day written by Cole Porter in the 1930's.

  • what is this song??

  • WOW I love Kristine Chenoweth and WOW The Ensamble!!!

  • I think because she has classical vocal training she can sing just about anything. So many pop singers are useless when it comes to other styles, but she can move from opera to jazz to pop without any trouble. And, she's cute as a button, to boot!

  • That sounded like Sheen laughing at the beginning..

  • Yeah I think it was him

  • i think she should do an album of like classic(50's) pop

  • I never thought any one would make this song better than John Barrowman's rendition. I have been proven wrong, so very, very wrong.

  • lol, 1:07 is priceless. that's hard core.

  • Uh...have you ever heard her sing coluratura? You don't get much better than that. She can seriously move.

  • shes great at jazz also!

  • hehe the guy laughing sounds like he could be a sesame street character

  • It is still hard to believe that voice is in that tiny body. Love her.

  • She's best when she's going old school like that.

  • okay so who are the guys singing?

  • A school choir that was touring the set of the show... and when Kristin found out they could all sing she sung this with them :)

  • @marianaraay Not just any school choir- if I'm not mistaken, that's the Yale Alley Cats.

  • @Brajerlok "Alley Cats"? I thought it was the Whiffenpoofs?

  • the guys laughing are annoying.

  • kristin has such a pretty voice, even when goofing around! i love her!

    -sulie

  • you can hear them saying WOW in the back ground

  • This woman is the reason Studio 60 was created.

    Imagine that.

Love does funny things to people, no matter how brilliant they are. I feel sorry for the pawns in Mr. Sorkin's musings.

  • She is? I didn't know that! How did that happen? =)

  • she wasn't the reason it was created, but the character Harriet Hayes is based on her.

  • Lmao, when she started to scat i just wet myself haha thankyou so much for the post!

  • They sound SO GOOD!

  • I would love for her to record this song.

  • AHAHAHAHAHA!!! Leave it to Kristin.

  • This is like gold dust!

  • Lovely!

  • i love how such a big voice comes out of somebody so small!! shes a beacon to short people everywhere =P

  • right there with ya! I'm about Kristin's height (4 foot 10 to 4 foot 11

  • Hey! Me too! And I'm a coloratura like her, too!

  • That's good. but kristin is, as good as a singer that she is, is not a coloratura.

  • holy crap.... i'm sorry but you clearly don't know what you're talking about... Kristin Chenoweth DEFINITELY is a coloratura. And a damn good one at that. She just also happens to have an amazing and well developed lower range as well. But trust me, she most certainly IS a coloratura.

  • what's a coloratura?

  • A soprano who can go very high with a very dark, dramatic and loud tone

  • Ta!

  • Not nessesaraly! It just means you have a very light tone up there. it doesn't need to be dark or dramatic, just clear.

  • @klaxtriz

... and then there's Charice (Pempengo) and Jackie (Evancho)

  • @klaxtriz I swear, i read your comment and I thought you called her bacon (which would have been cool too, since bacon is awesome)

  • and i'm scatting here, cause I don't know the words.

lamo! oh, and scatting is really hard to do. impressive.

  • Kristin !!! Yay Shes amazing :D I love her :D :D :D

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

so cute and funny!! amazing voice by the way! -sulie

  • kristin is so funny! and she sing good. -sulie

  • What a hoot. She's SOOOO talented!

  • Hahhahahasa! Hilarious!

  • I love it! I was laughing its so cool!

  • that ended too soon :)

  • cheno rocks

  • We did this song in marching band one year!

  • She is hilarious and a brill singer!!!:P

  • where did they find that impromptu back up choir??

  • This was a college accapella group that was touring the set.

  • thanks.

  • Very Nice

  • lol this is so fun. What brought about the random singing on set?

  • This was a college accapella group that was touring the set.
